Actually the Christmas fares to LA are the lowest in a long time .. amazing what a little currency depression will do !!

    • what dates? from where?

      • +3

24-25 Dec from The North Pole

  • School holidays for Easter 2020 are still expensive

    • +1

I managed to get flights for 930

Flights are cheaper but the aud is so weak now

      1 AUD = 69c USD
      ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Is this an insanely good price or do these come up fairly regularly? Not really ready to book yet but don't wont to miss out.

    • +3

Good price, they do come up every couple of months or so from memory though

  • Waiting on Perth flights to LA

  • How much does it cost to trek down to LA from SF to visit Disneyland and then head back?

    • Depends how you do it. By bus, can be as low as $1 each way.

      • Preferably flying. Travelling with someone who has back problems.

        • Check Google Flights and Southwest Airlines then. Prices will be affected by when you choose to fly, how far ahead you book tickets, etc.

        • +1

You should look at less than $100 each way. I've done it with Alaska Airlines for about $60 and it was fine. As long as you book about a month out then you will get a decent airfare.

    • +1

You can check on the internet how much the flight is. The closest airport to Disneyland is John Wayne Orange County Airport (SNA). There's plenty of direct flights from San Fransicso to SNA.

    • I recommend Southwest if you want to fly. Knotts Berry Farm and Universal are well worth a visit too.

Hey everyone, I'm looking at travelling to LA in Sept next year. Is there an ideal time to book flights to get the best prices or is it random?

    • I'm in the same boat and would like to know this too.

      • +2

You will find that cheaper flights don't become available until around 5-6 months out. I'd suggest for this time period you wait until around February and you are likely to see a similar fare as this one become available.

  • Has anyone actually used any of the booking websites offering these competitive prices?
I note that for many of these deals, the airline themselves are several hundred dollars more expensive, but the competitive prices are offered by some of the airline ticket "reseller" sites such as "fly365" and "BYOjet".

Some brief online searches seem to suggest these airline ticket resellers are dodgy and have a habbit of not always honoring the flight details supplied (i.e. change dates/times) or just cancel the tickets all together.

    Thoughts? experiences?

How is it possible they can offer ticket prices so much cheaper than the airlines?

    • No idea how they can get them cheaper. Some 3rd partys are difficult to contact in case you have an issue.

Although I did call virgin asking for a price match on this point.
They said they can only price match domestic flights and they suggested to get travel insurance should you have any issues.

    • 90% of my flights are booked with 3rd party OTAs. I have never had problems. If you are firm on dates, then it's a great way to save money. Booking with airline offers best service and most flexible change fees (as OTA fees stack on top of airline fees). BYOJet (now merging with aunty betty) is owned by FC so pretty financially stable. Other OTAs may pose somewhat higher risk (but still very very low) as the company can always go under.

My preference of OTAs in order

      Auntbetty/BYOjet
      Skiddoo
      iFly.net
      Fly365

While not always indicative, I've stayed away from lower starred ones from skyscanner, eDreams, mytrip etc.

      • That's interesting. Thanks for your thoughts and feedback.

How many times have you used these OTA's freestyle16?

        • +1

many times… lost count.. but from 2018 and 2019, at least 10 times

      • I read some bad feedback of aunt Betty. how are you feeling with them? are they trusted website?

        • I just said… lol.
every site has bad feedback. it's like ebay sellers from china. u get enough ppl leaving reviews, a % will be bad.

    • I have used auntbetty, byojet and fly365 a few times before. No issues at all and very happy with the prices.

In fact, fly365 was very responsive to my flight change queries. Pleasantly surprised.

    • I just booked with BYOjet last night to LAX in Mar/April/ $831 each. Received COnfirmation which checks out on Virgin's website almost straight away. Individual e tickets came through a few hours later.

I've also used Edreams last year going to SFO and Vietnam. Never had an issue.

      YMMV of course…

  • Meals included, except their meals are scheisse

  • Booked Aug 2020 with Virgin for $900 from Brisbane. Good deal. Won't be cheaper.

  • after search comes out with aunt Betty website. it is a trusted website? any booked with them?

    • 100% legit.

  • Just booked these using BYOjet!

    • they charge $39.11booking fee is that correct?

      • Not that I noticed, unless it was included in the ticket price. $877 per ticket in May from BNE.

  • BYOjet owned by Flight Centre so you'll be alright. Just don't make changes they'll charge through the nose

  • I don't get it.. whenever I click the link it just shows me a bunch of expensive flights. Am I supposed to do something in order to get those prices you've shown??
