Hmm what’s the cheapest thing one could buy?

    • +45

40c lollipop iirc but looking at your username it wouldn't matter anyway :)

      • +24

        40c is still full price

      • +3

Yes 40c is still full price!

        • +1

So why do you want a free drink?

      • +1

        Lollipop is 20c today FYI

    • +4

I hope their workers don't get paid $7.11/hr today

      • +7

Don't want them to get a pay rise aye?

      • -1

It's standard operating procedure for the largest businesses to defraud thousands of their employees without penalty. That's what yo get when you elect corporate tools that created an oligarchy.

    IN 8 DAYS 7-Eleven Day (7th November)

I redeemed this on 11th July in the U.S. Well worth the trip…

    • I’m sure you guys have better deals then us!

  • +9

You had me in the first half, then I ready purchase required

    • NO SLURPEE BUCKETS!?

      • +1

That's BYO cup day, they do that early in the year

  • Why only Slurpee comes in large size and the coffees are just regular????

    • +8

      sugar is cheaper than coffee

    • +7

because they need to pay proper wages now

    • +1

      they're both $1 item

    • Coffee can get expensive depending on the beans used. Best industry price for roasted is about $6/kg with a 20-22g shot being average. So 30c a shot roughly. Sugar can be a tenth of that. Hence why a large slurpee and not a large coffee as well.

      • -4

Coffee can get expensive depending on the beans used

seriously?? we are talking about 7/11 coffee beans here!

I doubt the cost of 1 shot is roughly 30c, it could be just worth of 5c.

        • -1

          Bullshit…

The only way they could get it that cheap is if they sourced, imported, roasted and distributed the beans to the stores themselves… Even then it would be a pretty shit standard cup!

I know we are talking about 7-Eleven here but I know some people who spend $200+ on a kg bag…

You clearly know jack shit about coffee so leave it up to those with training before making yourself look like a fool

@kronicmacstigator: wow didn't expect such an emotional reply just because of 7/11 coffee topic lol!!

Ok then coffee expert…I'll give you a + to cheer up your day!

            • @Taro Milk Tea: It's not a 7/11 coffee topic though LOL!

Coffee is coffee is coffee… varieties change. 7/11 don't suddenly have their own farms in the middle of Columbia…

They buy it from the same places everyone else does!

          • -2

you know some people who spent $200+/kg on coffee? are you single? can we be friend to start with?

            • @tempura: I'm single but I wouldn't dream of spending more than $20/KG… maybe $30/KG if it was top notch decaf

    • +3

      DID U REPORT HIM

      • +13

        Did you DEPORT him?

      • +5

Yep, going to sue them in small claims court for loss of dignity and damages of 0.50c

  • Is Myki top up valid?

    • +1

      ask Mikey

    • Yeah

    • +2

really? myki top up is considered a "purchase"??

      • -1

        Really?

      • If they get commission for the transaction from myki, then it should count.

    • Yes it is.

  • Any more discounts?

  • +13

    $1 value.
    The crowd goes mild.

  • +4

I haven't had a free coffee melt in a long time

  • Didn't it used to be a slurpee in any sized* container for $1 or something?

    • +2

      Think that's a summer promo

  • +6

    Missing those free coffees 😭

  • Not as good as the old deal :(

  • Kind of bending the rules (and the law) on this one but I sometimes consume the ice cream in the melt by itself and then fill it to the brim with coffee if I absolutely must get one (as opposed to brewing at home)

    • +4

Don't you get funny looks standing in the middle of the store eating ice cream?

      • Only if you buy the long popsicle kind and deep throat it…

  • +1

From my experience 2 years ago Opal top-up counted as "purchase", so I made 5 top-ups for $10 so I can get 5 slurpees.
Wonder if I can do the same this year, hopefuly someone can confirm it still works!

    • +1

Seriously I get it's OzBargain but why would you bother putting in this much effort

      • +11

        You underestimate OzBargain culture

        • +2

its really helped me save and mold my mindset to buy only sale items on coles/woolies and other things.

on the other hand, it has forced me to buy stuff at sales which I would not have purchased otherwise

          Like the PXC-550 -.-

  • Is refilling fuel counted as purchase? Nvm, just read the link and it does

    • Split the fuel into minimum purchases

  • +1

Purchased a 1 dollar coffee and got the other 1 dollar for free. Effectively a 2 dollar coffee for 1 dollar but with more wastage (cups)

    • -1

More like a $4 coffee (the $3 ones still not being as much as two regular).

      • Really? I'm going to test this out today with 2 regular long-blacks in a $3 cup…

  • +1

I remember the days when it was just walk in and get a free slurpee WITHOUT having to buy anything.

  • Will this work with one of the coupons in the app?

    • Just tried, no.

      • why? T&C only exclude tabacoo

    • yes i did claim one. although the staff wasnt happy

  • Just fill up one picosecond squirt of petrol to meet minimum purchase.

    • I think there is some minimum fuel dispense amount.

  • +2

I got 2 regular coffee free. I bought 2x 7-11 Gift cards and she was happy to offer me two free coffee with a beautiful smile.

    • Username checks out

  • Whew, I thought I had heard (and read on OzB) every excuse possible by the cashier but I just got a fresh one!:

Me: Can I have a free slurpee with my fuel purchase please?
Cashier: No, sorry sir, the promotion is over
    It was exactly 22:28 7/11/2019
M: But today is not over yet.
C: Yes but it's almost finished, it's almost 11pm so it means promotion is over now.
M: Look on the app, says available on 7/11/2019, time is not mentioned in there.
C: OK, OK sir, you can go get your free slurpee.

Good thing I never try to get any freebies from the app anymore, I guess they always come up with some new excuse.
