Coffee can get expensive depending on the beans used. Best industry price for roasted is about $6/kg with a 20-22g shot being average. So 30c a shot roughly. Sugar can be a tenth of that. Hence why a large slurpee and not a large coffee as well.

Kind of bending the rules (and the law) on this one but I sometimes consume the ice cream in the melt by itself and then fill it to the brim with coffee if I absolutely must get one (as opposed to brewing at home)

From my experience 2 years ago Opal top-up counted as "purchase", so I made 5 top-ups for $10 so I can get 5 slurpees.

its really helped me save and mold my mindset to buy only sale items on coles/woolies and other things.
