It has primarily been MSI Pro M2 of late.

  • Awesome prices on those complete PC's OP.

I'm just upgrading a few components in my good old Thermaltake Oversear medium case alongside my EVGA PSU and other trusty components as below and I'll have to cough up at least $1,145:

    1- AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
    2- Asus TUF X570-Plus WiFi
    3- Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 32Gb (2x16Gb) 3200Mhz, CL16
    4- Silicon Power NVMe M.2 Gen3 x4 1Tb

Wireless-AC 9260… interesting choice from Asus. I guess it is much better than MSI's cost cutting choice.
Have to hand it to Asus, they do use their brain. Forget USB 3.1 gen 1 ports, just put as many USB 3.1 gen 2 ports on board (rather than on headers - because good luck finding cases with USB 3.1 gen 2 ports). 8 SATA3 ports to let the user choose.

  • Op any ITX deals?

    • I know you're asking BA but from our side ITX won't be featured this year.

  • Thinking of pulling the trigger for this one and doing upgrades on the RAM to 16GB 3200MHz +$59 and 240 GB SSD NVMe +$79.

What brands are typically used for the upgraded RAM and SSD NVMe above? Also, how many display ports are available with the GTX 1660 included? Because I need at least 3 screen setups.

    Thank you!

    • 16GB RAM upgrades have been Team T Force for quite a while with good results. NVMe has been Kingston and Lexar. The majority of 1660s have 1 each of DVI, DP and HDMI.

  • Hi Luke!

Been lurking OzBargain for a while and have consistently seen your deals popping up. My 8 year old PC has recently died and I'm genuinely interested in picking up this one up. As I am absolutely clueless when it comes to hardware I just had a few questions if you could help me with that would help me pull the trigger.

    1) I'm hearing some concerns with RAM. I've salvaged some RAM sticks from my old PC, could I use then with this model or should I look to upgrade?

    2) My old hard-drive with all content such as photos which I'm trying to retrieve is still in my old PC, do you know if I could somehow attach this old hard drive to this model here.

Sorry I know I'm not providing alot of specifics here, just wanted to get a general idea.

    Thanks!

    • 1) Which kind of concerns are you hearing? If regarding speed, Ryzen CPUs do perform better at higher speeds. The performance gain between 2400MHz and 3200MHz is somewhere around 5-7% I believe so it's more about extracting the max out of the CPU rather than 2400MHz won't work or anything like that.

      2) It would depend on the Hard Drive's connections, but if it can be powered with a SATA power connector and SATA data cable it would be fine

      Cheers
      Luke

    • 1) You cannot re-use your old RAM modules because an 8 year old PC would either use DDR2 or DDR3 RAM modules. Ryzen 3xxx series uses DDR4. Also, the motherboard here supports only 2 modules thus there is no spare slots (also, for Ryzen, 4 DIMMs are challenging).

      2) If your hard drive is SATA, then you can. If it is IDE, you need a converter. Another option is to get an USB 3 enclosure, but will be hard for IDE.

Ask a tech savvy friend to help you decide.

  • Any chance we can get a deal with an rx5700? I've been waiting for an r73700x/5700 deal. The upgrade in the options seem quite steep with a +$500 premium to upgrade to the rx which makes it more expensive than previous offerings if we do the upgrade route.
