    1080 pixels high… ugh…
I hope whatever arse-muncher thought it would be a good idea to neuter PC screens to match DVD aspect ratio falls down some very steep steps…

    • +2

      Yeah. I miss 1920x1200.

EDIT That said, considering it includes delivery and a 3 year warranty, it's good value and like it or not, 1080p is the standard now.

Yes, cant agree more… bring back the square monitors.

    • +2

Totally agree. Getting the same height out of my 24" as I did out of my old 19" which was 1.25:1. Can they also throw the person down those same steps who decided they should sell tv's that are 16x9, and then start making movies that are 2.4:1?

      • +4

Movies have always been made 2.4:1

      • +2

16:9 was chosen because it was between 2.37:1 and 1.33.

tv was 1.33, movies were mostly 2.37. 16:9 displayed both at a good compromise.

    • +1

16:9 seems to be more supported than 16:10 in older games and such, but I agree I prefer 16:10.

That doesn't make this any less of a good deal.

    • I'm waiting for retina display dot pitch on a big monitor.

4000x3000 at 24" would be as good as paper

Dell take ages to deliver stuff. Might be months until you get it.

    • +7

I have always found their delivery times to be exceptional.
Any stock they have to hand (ie in Australia) is usually delivered next day.

Ordering a computer / laptop usually takes 1-3 weeks.

      • +1

Same here. Delivery fast for me!

Also re quality question above… got 2 24" monitors 18 months ago.. excellent. Warranty is good anyway.

          You bought ST2420L? $239 now.

  • Which monitor is better? That one or the ST2320L for the same price (and has HDMI input)?

    • Not sure which one is better image quality wise. While they are currently at the same discounted price, the E2311H is $80 off, compared to $30 off for the ST2320L.

      • +2

When I click the first one it goes straight to purchase, I can't seem to find the 'similar' specs for the first one.

  • Ahh… was going to ask about the 2320L too….

    • Snip

      Posted in the main thread.

  • Wow! Great deal for a dell.

  • Decent monitor for some 3x eyefinity?

  • The ST2320L will take 3-4 weeks to ship.

The E2311H is a business model so it has a cleaner look but it's missing HDMI compatibility, that is all.

    See a comparison here: http://www.all-monitors.com/compares/dell_e2311h_vs_dell_st2…

I would say go for the E2311H. (If you want it within a week.)

    • So everything is the same between the 2 models, but the ST (economic) has an HDMI output whereas the E (business) does not. Which makes me wonder why the E was $50 more expensive in the first place (they are now the same price).

  • Thanks — I have been looking for a 23 / 24 inch for a couple of weeks! Attempted to use MoneyBackCo — but when I did I could not find the monitor for the discounted price… the price was $269 or something similar…

    • Since this is a business monitor, it's only available from the small business section of Dell, which means you'll have to choose the "Dell Small Business" merchant on MoneyBackCo.

      • Looked like it worked anyways! :)

  • Ordered a(n) E2311H.

  • From my experience, Dell standard monitors always seem to have a bright/dead pixel. I believe the ultrasharp don't have them as frequently as the cheaper ones do.

  • The Dell website is so frustratingly difficult to get any information from. Can anyone tell me where to find out just which inputs this monitor has?

    • Go here and click Tech Specs.

      It lists:
      CONNECTIVITY
      Video Graphics Array (VGA)
Digital Video Interface (DVI-D) with HDCP

If that doesn't answer any questions you have, ask specifics.

  • nice

    • +1

Why the neg vote then? I assume this is a mistake, so revoking.

  • this a good monitor?

    • yes, read through comments above for reasons why.

  • Ordered on Friday, got a call today, monitor will be delivered on Tuesday. (3 day shipping.)

    • Delivered, monitor is fairly decent, the contrast is good and the colours are vibrant.

I'm having a little trouble configuring the brightness properly though, even with brightness set to 0% and contrast set in the 30's the screen is very bright.

      Anyone else got theirs yet?

  • deal extended to august 4!
