just bought Nikon D3100 14MP Digital SLR with 18-55VR + 55-200VR Twin Lens Kit at BIGW for $777 that JB is selling for $987 and jaw dropping $1149 at Harvey Norman.so i think this is very good price for entry slr and also have very good reviews around the world so i wish to share with fellow ozbargainers for this..happy shopping. ok here the receipt especially for Tuanxiu1983 and simonnn requested nicely unlike some rude people here asked for receipt not even say please .i will have to think twice to post any bargain in the future as a busy person i simply have no reason to deal with rude people but thank you to all nice people in ozbargainers.good luck with your price matching and have a good day.http://upload.ozbargain.com/2011/07/22/6356_img001.jpg

    Not a bad deal for Australia, kluger.

    But importing the same camera from bhphotovideo with 5-business-day UPS delivery puts it as USD $703.21, which is approximately $650 Australian dollars.

    You pay about $127 more for GST and I guess the convenience of Australian warranty. Quite good for those not comfortable with importing items, regardless.

    Was looking for a very cheap D3100 or a reasonably priced D5100.

    This is definitely worth the purchase - just wondering if its going to be available at the Big W in Melbourne CBD.

    Uploading the copy of the receipt would be really really helpful for price matching purposes!!

      Thanks Kluger. The next closest BigW is over 100k's away. It's no biggie anyway - went to Joyce Mayne yesterday and the sales person quietly let us know they were having 25 per cent off their cameras today, so a nice Lumix followed me home instead. :)

      Sadly it's the only store with the sale - would have been a nice first bargain post.

    I tried my local store in Mt Hutton NSW. No deal. They had it for $998 but they wouldn't price match with a Melbourne Store.

      I called altona meadows and they confirmed the $777. But they weren't able to confirm if is is a local or Oz wide price.

      But JbHi has the same kit for $888 today. I've just called and they are going to see about price matching altona, waiting on a call back from the sales person to confirm.

    Just Rang up the Altona Meadows shop, which is mentioned in the receipt. They are out of stock and the lady asked me to call back on Monday to check if they are expecting more stock at this price.

    Bummer, because I just live meters from this shop :-( Should have gone there earlier :-)

    Will update if the stock comes back here again, I am guessing other people won't do a price match if Big W don't have stock but still worth a try elsewhere.

    Just called Parkmore store who have stock of the camera, however they are not willing to pricematch as Altona is now out of stock :( Thought it would be different considering they are the same store!

      Posting one offs or the like are not "bargains", but they love em here for some reason.
      I have found many red hot one off's but would not abuse this site by posting them.
      The $2 ladder recently was a classic example.

        Yes, this was the QV store yesterday at around 3pm.

        The girl in the digital photo center called up the Altona shop, then she confirmed with 2 of her managers before she was able to offer me the camera at this price.

    Called Geelong this morning. $998, tried Werribee, $998. Called Altona Meadows, at about 8.30, one left and she put it aside. Very Very Impressed. Best Deal Ever! For me!

    I asked at Big W Box Hill (VIC) and they said this price is from a sale a couple weeks ago.
    It explains why the OP managed to get it while others haven't, as that Big W may have delayed updates to their system.

    Nonetheless, it's an excellent deal, and I'm trying to find a place to get it for that price!
    And congratulations to those who managed to pick it up for that price!

      Big W in Mirrabooka, Perth have said that they can't match the Altona Meadows price. The reason they gave (after calling the Altona Meadows store) was that it was a special price and price matched to local competition. "Local comp" didn't sell it that cheap, hence they couldn't give the same deal.

      So I gave up on them and went to a local JB HiFi with the OP's receipt. Bingo :)

    alright, so I went to JB Hi Fi, Chatswood, showed a print out of Kluger's receipt and voila JB said they would price match! I sure was one happy customer. The only chink, in the heat of the moment I bought a 8GB Sandisk SDHC card (30 MB/sec), for 59$. I am a bit of a rookie when it comes to photography, people suggest 15 MB/sec is good enough. I plan to return the card and goto Target instead to buy a 35$, 15MB/sec card.

        yeah, jb has the single lens for 777 and the twin for 999 and tomorrow between 6 and 9 pm they will be a further 15% off, making them 660 and 849.

      no, why didnt you just buy it from jb when they had the 15% off night the other day? I already posted about it above. and most people on the jb thread said they managed to get it down closer to the bigw price anyway on that night!
