    depends really….Gear Watch is really tuned for Samsung users they start from $489 for the 42mm BT

      Been using my gear S2 classic on iPhone and pixel for years. Nothing to do with being tuned for Samsung at all.

      I bought watch active for my wife for $211, got leather bands for $30 off Amazon. I bought gear S3 frontier for $199 last Xmas for my old man.

        oh well the Gear Watch Active is cheaper and Gear S3 is pre Gear Watch lol. But now that you have elaborated i get what you mean. You mean't Samsung Smartwatch in general not Gear Watch specifically.

        I also used the Gear Frontier S3 with my iphone and thought it was pretty good. But once i paired her up with the S8 (and now S10+) i gained it's full functionality…so my comment is in fact based on personal usage & experience.

          @ExtraSalt: Yes it changed since then. Even my S2 classic works fully on iPhone. But yes needed the Samsung phone app for calls etc back then too prior to the updates

  Thanks OP, my Huawei Watch 1 is starting to be a little temperamental. This is the right sort of money to spend on a watch that has a limited life and should make a nice replacement. Here's hoping NFC works well for contactless payments.

  I'd advise against buying this watch.

  Had this watch and it lags like hell. Also the screen only runs at 45Hz not 60Hz like other previous WearOS watches, so with the 512MB RAM the animations just jerk and judder. Luckily I sold mine off a few months ago and didn't lose that much dough on it

    Ditto. i've returned mine 3 times….. finally asked them to give me the newer 2019 model. will see how that goes…
