Hi Guys

Just got my energy bill, and found out that my electricity rate has gone off to more than 1000 dollar quarterly!

I kinda expect higher bill due to higher number of peak hour usage but never expect it to this high.

Can you please let me know if you guys are getting better pricing than what i have and with which provider?

My current rate is as below.

peak hour rate is $0.5929000 per kWh, 0.47432 after discount
shoulder is $0.3102000 per kWh 0.24816 after discount
off peak is $0.1892000 per kWh 0.1892000 after discount
suppy charge is $1.060400 per day 0.84832 after discount
20% discount for paying in time.

btw i'm in Sydney

    wattever.com.au and do your own research

    none of those rates look that out of the ordinary for my area so you must be using a heap of electricity to get a $1000 bill (though you dont save if thats a month, quarter, yearly, decade etc etc)

    I pay about $0.28 per kwh, but that's completely irrelevant to you of your aren't in Qld.

    that seems very high for QLD.

    This is the AGL offer for Brisbane for example

    T11 = $0.22583 /kWh
    T31 = $0.16258 /kWh
    T33 = $0.18337 /kWh
    Supply charge = $0.93896 /day

    I quickly checked two other states (NSW & VIC), and they are not much different.

    $0.138 per klh control load 1 for hot water
    $0.84 per day supply charge

        doesn't look like the plan we have is on there, as we just continue on from we signed up a couple of years ago and have maintained the same rates

        Tango/Pacific Hydro was doing 16c a few years back, with 2 years locked-in so some people are still paying that. Their currently offered rate is more like ~19.5c depending on your distributor.

    In NSW with AGL.

    Electricity: 25.61c kWh
    Supply charge: 81.45c per day.

    Your pricing looks similar to ours when we were with Origin. Even with their 20% "pay on time" discount it was still more expensive than standard rates with other suppliers.

    I'm guessing SA. I'm in the same boat but your peak hour charge is quite high. my peak is roughly the same or less than your discount rate.

      The reason these sites exist is because people do not understand what they're buying.

      I've been dumbstruck watching the morons in NSW and QLD see the rest of the country suffer an economic and social disaster because of privatisation … and then watching them vote to privatise the grid because the charlatans they voted for told them it would be cheaper … and then watching the 200% price increase in three years after privatisation.

      Naturally they continue to vote for the charlatans because they cannot lose enough money to not do that apparently.

        Why only NSW and QLD? What about VIC where the public were conned into paying for smart meters that could be used to charge them higher rates?

      newcastle is way more than that for supply charge (especially if you want solar FIT)

      old grandfathered plan with Amaysim 40% off the whole bills, many people above forget to mention their discount is off USAGE only, this is off USAGE and Supply

        How did you get the lock-in of rates with Amaysim?

        I was on their 40% discount and after 6 months they increased the rates a crazy amount.

    What is your actual usage?

    Is it just you or a family?

    Pool? Lots of AC? Electric hot water? indoor hydroponics? lots of 50w downlights?

    I'd be looking at where you are using the electricity rather than the rate.
