I buy these Penfolds ranges fairly regularly and I've not seen it below $25 this year. Most definitely going up every year (they have shareholders to please)

I wouldn't buy at $38 per bottle though. My range would be between $28-$32. Which is what I've been paying for them this year.

      • Every year is different and they are sold young. The 2010 is often $50+ because they are so much better after a few years. It's hard to price…

        • Exactly my point, they're sold young, for what.. profits ;)

I have a wholesale list so I'm going based on my experience and knowledge. Often wholesale list is actually more expensive unless you're buying it the Ozb way. I'm very transparent with my wine reps so if they can't do it better or come close I'll be looking elsewhere.

I've not had to buy Penfolds direct for many years now, often stocking up when I can. 2010 was a great year for wine in SA. Wines in this calibre are generally purchased by those who have a good understanding of wine. There are plenty of great wines out there for under this price point. Way too many, hard part is sifting through all the crap. Penfolds have marketed themselves well outside Australia and admittedly they still make consistently good wines. The vintages will determine the price.

Just bought 6 bottles for $90 last month of the Woolworths offer

    • That would have been the Penefolds ones …

Got onto a similar deal several years ago when the bottles were $16 each. Nice set of glasses, if they are similar.

The best was the wine fridge for $150 deal, including delivery.

    • agreed. I think I managed to get a few wine fridges during that period. Great Christmas gifts for the families!

Also nabbed a couple of the larger wine fridges with a promo they ran after the success of the $150 deal.

  • Your maths is wrong. It works out to be $38.90 a bottle. So by my reckoning you're paying about $70 for the 2 glasses. About an extra $10 a bottle to cover the glasses.
