  ANA are currently in the process of partnering with Virgin, I believe this should be in place by late March. Hopefully it's a proper partnership including points/credits on ANA flight numbers.

  These flights are all from April onwards so hopefully anyone that books can add their VA number to their booking closer to the date.

    That'd be amazing. I believe Virgin is also securing a slot in Tokyo Haneda, so it's looking like good times ahead for Velocity members and Japan fans.

      Yeah VA are going to do BNE-HND. ANA already do SYD-HND and PER-HND, reports say ANA will be adding a new Australian city which is rumoured to be MEL-HND. Once the partnership goes ahead it will be great to be able to get VA benefits to Tokyo from almost all major Australian cities!

    It varies depending on where you plan on viewing them. For example, in the far south they might start in early March as things warm up, last year Tokyo started March 27, and Sapporo in the north on April 25. So from Tokyo if you're flying in April, you may need to head north - but these are estimates only and they do vary from year to year, depending on seasonally cold/warm variations.

    If it's your primary reason for visiting, definitely recommend some research on the most beautiful towns and when the forecasts are for this year.

      Yes, I think it would be my primary reason for visiting. Is it a bit risky booking so far in advance not knowing when they will bloom do you think?

  Best to book direct for less hassle.
