      Still active.
OP - if you aren't wanting to use your existing ph number or burner number get a Free Telstra Sim and port using that as the Kogan deal requires you to port

  • Thanks guys! Could not find it anywhere!

  • Next question.

Anyone cycling through all the 90 day/28 day/30 day/etc day mobile plan deals successfully?

Because I would do it if I had a good enough memory and not forget to switch over but that would just give me too much anxiety and stress so I gave up and just went with $12.50/month prepaid with Boost Mobile which has been fantastic for me.. the 80gb 12 month bank is probably the best thing ever as I can use as much or as little as I want over the 12 month period as needs change daily/weekly/monthly.

I don't admit to be an expert on this but I've been interested in doing the same for a while. I was a long term Kogan user coming off 4 x 12 month prepaid plans. Thought I was doing ok paying ~$20 a month. I ported to Catch when there was a 90 day 54gb $15 with $10 cashback deal. Then I ported back to Kogan on a $14.90 90 day 20gb per 30 days plan. So the new goal is to spend max $5 a month and only do 90 day or longer plans. I know I could get it even cheaper/free if I tried but not for 90 day plans, which is the sweet spot for the admin hassle of sorting out both the Mrs and I.

      • Fair enough.

That sounds like a good interim compromise.

$5/month is definitely better than $12.50/month.

I am basically paying $90 a year for the convenience of not hot swapping my mobile providers every 3 months which kind of sucks honestly.

        • Yep the Catch deal ended up being $1.66 per month net of cashback and the Kogan deal was bought with 10% off gift cards so ended up being $4.50 per month. Also you're right, the stress of looking up and hoping there is a deal every 30 days is not desirable.

          • @spiff: how much data you use a month?

            • @follow: When I was on Kogan's 12 month prepaid plans I was on 40gb a month. But since transitioning to 90 day cycles I've had to limit myself to 18gb a month then now 20gb a month.

18gb was a bit of a struggle. 20gb should be ok.

              • @spiff: Damn I am stuck to 80 GB over 12 months so if I was a robot it works out to be about 6.67 GB per month if shared evenly but I am as chaotic as the world we live in so I average about 3 to 12 GB a month and still feel myself being a bit conservative holding back sometimes.

At the start I was super conservative trying not to even go above 1 GB but now that I am working and under more stress I watch a lot more YouTube on the go, listen to music a lot and use google maps like constantly.. I might actually need more data for next time around realistically which I can afford now thanks to employment boo yeah… I love my job and it loves me (I hope) :)

                • @AlienC: Have you thought about YouTube premium and downloading music offline?

                  • @sharka: Yes and I do that but that requires to know what I want before I want it and when your mind is racing sometimes that is not possible until you know what you want.

But then I do download it for the next time my mind wants it.

And Google Play Music is better for data I find unless I need to watch Alizee for some motivation and encouragement ;)

But yes to answer your question I use the download offline feature generously.

    • Because I would do it if I had a good enough memory and not forget to switch over

Google calendar is really good for this, and you can set up a pop-reminder on your phone.

      • I have decided to basically use my time and effort elsewhere mainly finding games lol and also looking for another job or side jobs.. but yeah I should really give this a go and try it as the savings would be amazing.

  • my Telstra contract ends next month. If I buy now, how long can I sit on the voucher without activating it? Thank you

      early March

  • Just ported out from Telstra to this plan a week ago. Gonna keep my eye on what JB Hifi deals come through for a port in to Telstra. Spewing that i missed the Galaxy s10e deal from the end of October.
