    • special coz they want to get rid of their old 25 stocks :)

25 items in stock only though

      • +3

That, and you get a FREE screen protector…

It's all about that protection now days… :-P

  • Actually it wasn't the same price last week - the price was decreased on Friday late night for the weekend.

The Archos Tab 70 is a great unit for those who are after a tablet PC with a small budget.

  • +4

So last friday isn't last week, we get it.

    specs for those that care…

    http://www.archos.com/products/ta/archos_70it/specs.html?cou…

    Android 2.2 :\

  • @ jv:

The new price also happens to be the full price that you'll pay if you happen to fall within the GST Tax free rule - that is if you spend less than $1000 AUD - you wont pay GST.

You can do the math on the savings. It's actually a very good deal.

The price was actually $308 AUD X GST, which was already pretty competitive and this didn't include a screen protector.

We thought that it would be nice to offer a promo for one of our popular products :-)

If you don't like this product - tell us which product you do like / would like us to run a promo for and I'll see what I can do!

    • Archos 101 16gb. Make it around $250-$270 mark.

      • Hey Wildstone - ah would love to!

        If only.

Unfort we'll not be able to get close to that price :(

Honestly though, if there are products that you guys want to see promos for let me know and I'll take them all into consideration to see what I can come up with when I'm doing my planning for new promos.

    • 7" P1000 Samsung Galaxy ;-)

      • Nice choice senectus :-)

        • I know… does that mean you'll do a price match for the Telstra $299 sale of the P1000 ? :-P

    • +1

So lets get this straight. You are NOT an Australian retailer, all you have is an Australian website with a VOIP number? How else can you sell it GST free under $1000 which is the import price where GST isnt paid. Or have I got this wrong?

Can you please supply via the Talk with a moderator forum your ABN please.

        Hi there ozpete,

        Thanks for your note.

I'm an Aussie by the way and proud of it, working for a UK based company, living in HK :-)

Expansys is not pretending to be an Australian company - we've not said that we are - have we?

If we have said that we are an Aussie company, then that would be uncool + I'd have to apologise for that. That's something that I'd take really seriously actually being a green + gold kinda chick myself.

So please let me know please ozpete, so that I can get to the bottom of that + sort it - thanks!

You can read about our parent company here (NOT Australian) if you want http://www.expansys.plc.uk/ *actually our annual figures just came out - so we're pretty excited really as we've had a ripper of a year!

Anyway, back to your question regarding Expansys NOT being an Australian retailer + how else can we sell it GST free under $1000 - there's a tax break available for Aussie buyers who buy from NON Aussie companies - well, we didn't make this up if that's what you're thinking! We are merely following suit + this is to your benefit isn't it as far as getting a good deal is concerned?

If you search for 'Australia's $1000 tax-free threshhold' you'll see that it's all over the net + you should be able to find the information that you need.

With all due respect, all we did was post a deal that we thought some of you may like, so from 1 Aussie to another - enjoy.

If you have any more questions - I'll be here waiting.

        Thanks!

Ah so you ship the items from hong kong? Your website "http://www.expansys.com.au/" and the Australian flag in the top right hand corner company makes it appear to be an Australian company.

  • @ Blackwalnut - nice name.

Actually you got me there - let me clarify, we loaded the new pricing really late on Friday night, but unfortunately, we couldnt load the deal here in Ozbargains until today due to Ózbargains's standard lock out period for loading new deals.

    Hope this makes sense.

    • hey is this the 8GB model or the hard drive model?

      • +1

Hi again senectus - it's the 8GB model. I'm going to ask our product team to put that into the title on our website now for you :-) It's the same as the other Archos 70 loaded on our website - the only difference is that this product comes as a bundle with the screen protector. Hope this helps.

        • +1

Hi senectus - the product page title has been updated to include [8GB] for you - this should be visible in about 30 mins from now approximately - hope this helps :-)

  • -1

    1) It's not a PC.
    2) It's almost the same price as what the Archos 101 goes for. Even without comparing to other comparable tablets on the market, as a 1-to-1 by the same manufacturer that's a pretty shitty deal.

    • Hi FerretallicA, well, if you can find it for a better price + are in the market for one - then I recommend that you grab one :-)

  • -2

Wheres the bargain in this? This is Ozbargain not ozfreeadvertising!

    • hi laser, good point + noted. Please revert back to the original posting. Sorry everyone laser has made a good point - No more banter then. lets stick to the deal for now. We are new here and want to play by the rules. Thanks.

I would like to remove my negative vote, but cant remove it myself. Could a Mod please remove if its not too much trouble, thanks.

        • +1

you can remove it. go up to above the tablet photo where it says "view" and "vote"
click on vote, score down to yyour name and click on the minus symbol to get rid of the neg.

        • Thanks laser, that's really kind of you - greatly appreciated.
Hope that you have a great night!

        • Thanks altomic I was able to remove my neg with your instructions

  • +1

If you post it on Friday, I will buy it:(
But I got the T tab on the weekend!! OMG

    • hi elf888 - don't worry about that - I'm sure that you'll love your T tab - all the best with your T tab! Enjoy :-)

  • +1

I bought this item for around $300 a few months back. I bought it mainly for its light weight and codec support. It is a little underpowered and the screen is meh, but while I'm awaiting a 7inch Android 3.1 tab, it does the job.

And you can download Movies straight to the Archos and output via the mini HDMIto a TV, or stream Movies from your NAS. Beats my iPad in that respect.

    • thanks for your feedback re this product mooribbit :-)

  • Hey Senectus re your comment "does that mean you'll do a price match for the Telstra $299 sale of the P1000 ? :-P '
I'm not aware of that deal but we don't sell our items on a plan so if this is a plan deal we're really not comparing apples for apples here. We sell outright only - no lock ins to contracts apply, that's it, it's how we role. Thanks. Hope this helps.

    • nah, no contract…
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/43047

Alternatively, the ZTE V9 Plus would be equally as good for me :-)

      • +1

mmm senectus that seems to be a really good deal for the Gal Tab there - I only looked at the listed price though so I'm not sure about the itty gritties of that right now honestly + it's late here now so I must be off soon. Just wanted to reply to u before I head off. re the ZTE V9 - I'm honestly not familiar with that unit so I'll need to check it out - I'm not sure that we're carrying those (?) Need to check.

I'm going to try to remember to take a look at our price tomorrow when I'm back at the office for you.

Got to love a good deal!

Have a good night champion :-)

        • Just to point out.. the ZTE I'm looking at is the ZTE V9+ (plus) which is quite different to the ZTE V9

Otherwise I look forward to what you can do for us.. and appreciate you extremely friendly demeanour

        • Another one to keep an eye out for.. the http://www.phonearena.com/news/7-inch-Huawei-MediaPad-announ… Huawei MediaPad is due out Q3 apparently.. This thing blows away the Galaxy Tab 7" P1000

          Well worth looking into.

  • +2

I upvote this deal is because the rep is being responsible and friendly!
Looking forward to your future bargains!

  • Thanks very much CuteChocobo that's really sweet :-) have a great night!

  • Anyone else notice the "free" screen protector is 9c more than without it - little difference - but clearly not free.

    • +2

      Hi omniX32,

      Thanks for pointing that out.

I assure you that this is an oversight and it's happened due to the fact that we are a global company and our dollar is pegged to the UK Pound (where our parent company resides - Expansys PLC - check them out if you wish :-) so the currency fluctuates somewhat, meaning that the pricing of our other items on our site generally change daily.

On Friday when we came up with this promotional price, we didn't put a price fix on the other (non bundled) product pricings because honestly, we didn't think that it would matter!

So I apologise for the 9 cent difference in the total price of the bundle that you've picked up on.

      Honestly though, IT'S 9 CENTS!!!

It's not like we'd make a killing on that 9 cents - imagine this -> 25 units x 9 cents = that's like $2.25 AUD! Could one even buy a McDonalds Happy Meal with that these days?

I will happily change the posting to read "Android Internet Tablet [8GB] ONLY $222.36 AUD w/ Screen Protector for 9 cents if you like?

      Will that help?

  • PS I don't eat McDonalds

    • Well thanks for that jv,

We are a huge global company - we're not going to be perfect all of the time when we are dealing with such large global distribution - unlike your good self ofcourse. I'm sure that you've never made a mistake, or rocked up to work late :-)

Expansys is able to offer such good pricing because of our large global volume trade - really we are trying our hardest to drive the best possible deals possible for our buyers always, whilst trying to maintain a sense of customer satisfaction. This is never going to be easy - no matter the business that one is in, as I'm sure you can appreciate. Such is big business, but even still, most of the time we get it right :-)

Whilst we don't claim to be perfect, we are trying really hard to improve our customer service and overall experience for customers and most of our customers are happy - otherwise they wouldn't come back to buy again! Right?

Unfortunately, not all of us are going to be satisfied all of the time - such is life I'm afraid. We can only do our best!

I've been in business for a long time now and have to say that it's a real shame how such a small percentage of the good stuff gets posted, whilst the gear that we manage to muck up get posted in every nook + cranny, then rubbed in over and over.

Have a lovely day and thanks again for reminding us of previous hic-cups in our business - please do feel very welcome to write further negative posts - it helps us to improve our business + I'm into that.
