tried this years ago, just keep watch on your credit card statements after you cancel, the a**holes tried charging me two years in a row

    • +7

I have the same issue with them, I cancelled almost a few days of signing up with 28 degree credit card offer, and cancel it, about a year later they start charging my credit card, and I got in contact with them, and they said they cancelled it, and then a year later, they did it again, so I have to deal with them for 2years.
Even if it's FREE, not worth it.

      • You can subscribe via PayPal and cancel the same way.

  • I use Australia Post's Shopmate service. It's not as good as buying directly from Amazon but reliable.

  • +3

I had an ok experience with them. They are not worse or better than other forward shippers. They are reliable in the sense that parcels are delivered timely, faster than buying/shipping nationally inside Aust, and parcels don't get lost (had my fair share of issues with Aust Post and Sendle). It's good for buying from EBay.com and stores that ship only in the US. Nowadays, with GST being automatically charged by MyUS (GST on the total price of the goods and shipping!), I can buy similar items in Aust for same or less (through EBay/Amazon/OB deals). Also if the US sellers did not include invoices with the items, MyUS will charge GST base on the retail price of the goods, even if you buy it used/refurbished. Then it is your onus to contact them and provide proof of purchase. Plus you carry the risk that if the item is not as described or has a faulty part, it's your own cost to send it back.

    • Also if the US sellers did not include invoices with the items, MyUS will charge GST base on the retail price of the goods, even if you buy it used/refurbished.

you can edit the values. sometimes it will be approved automatically, sometimes they'll ask you to upload a merchant invoice or paypal receipt. i've entered lower values and it usually goes through.

    • So we're buying stuff in the USA, having the seller send it to a MyUS address - so we haven't paid any GST… But MyUS then charges us the GST. Is that how it works? (We only pay GST once, not twice, right?)

      • Yes, myUS collects GST for the Aust Gov if total cost is $1000 or under (just like EBay).

        • Thanks. Just signed up at Planet Express a few minutes ago actually. I emailed them and they said they don't pay GST because their volumes are still low. Then I read some online forum/s of people saying they weren't charged GST when those pages arrived either.

If anyone is still reading this thread, you can get one month of premium using the code 'workingtogether'. i.e. You sign up, deposit $5 USD in, complete your personal details, then it allows you to upgrade to premium using that code (if you want consolidation).

I have referral code now. I don't think the person signing up earns anything which is stingy! But if anyone is feeling generous enough to make Planet Express send $5 USD my way, PM me for that referral link.

  • Is there a UK version

    • Reship has a uk address but there's only one shipping option and it's very expensive

I've just cancelled my premium account of two years linked to my Amex card. Fingers crossed they don't attempt to charge it. Think I'll change my payment method to one of my empty Coles gift MasterCards just to be sure

    • +1

Good idea. Also changed payment method.

      • Or give a soon to expire credit card

  • I use Planet Express and their system is not linked to the credit card directly, you have to add a deposit first, so they cannot charge you without noticing. I think Planet Express is definitely worth your attention guys.

    • Very interesting. Unless there's hidden costs I'm not seeing. Your PMs are turned off. Since you have experience with them, can you please check a calculation for me, and tell me if I have it right?

I have an ebay US package to send here. It weighs at most, 0.155 kg.

The "One Package Plan" seems to give a price of…

      Country: Australia
      State: NSW
      City: Sydney
      Zip code: 2000
      Weight: 0.155 kg
      Length: 27 cm
      Width: 1 cm
      Height: 21.5 cm
      Value: 10.95 USD

I get: Economy $3.53 USD, plus Mail out/handling fee of $2 USD. For a total of: $5.53 USD.

Is this the total cost, or are there hidden fees I'm missing? (Seems to good to be true.)

      • I am sorry for the late reply. I've used your package details and I've got the following rates:

        $31,85 DHL
        $31,17 FedEx Economy
        $34,02 FedEx Priority
        $26,89 Aramex
        $3,53 Planet Mail Economy
        $3,95 Planet Mail Express
        $17,82 USPS ePacket
        $27,83 USPS Express

Rates are calculated with their calculator: https://planetexpress.com/postage-calculator/

Don't forget to add the $2 handling fee.

Yep, I've signed up for the month trial. Ordering items right now actually. :-)

  • On this page: https://www.myus.com/blog/free-membership-promo-nov-19/ - what do they mean by this: "3. Submit your ship request by DATE, to ensure your shipment is processed in time."?

They store packages for 30 days so you can consolidate them into one. So there's a large chunk of info missing at this step. Surely they're not saying when a package arrives at their facility, you must select a date by which they WILL reship it to Australia by… Because you have no idea when the other packages will arrive - and those need to be combined into one - so you can't "submit a ship request by DATE" until all of them have arrived.

I wouldn't bother with this mob. Go with stackry, such a good service

    • Using my example above…

      • Stackry's cheapest method is $26.46 USD.
      • The ebay listing is $18.13 Shipping + $6.87 GST = $25 USD. (Or $3 USA-to-USA to a reshipper's address.)
      • I emailed Planet Express and they confirm their price = $5.53 USD.

Making Stackry the most expensive, and Planet Express the cheapest by far.

      • +1

I am just speaking from experience, I have had good service and experiences from stackry having used them multiple times. I don't mind paying more when buying expensive electrical items for POM. I generally don't pick the absolute cheapest shipping option anyway, I pick one of the fastest. The planet express shipping cost seems almost too cheap?

        • Yeah it does doesn't it.

I emailed them and either they're really lazy typers, or their English isn't great. The second one is often a warning sign of possible trouble ahead.

  • Hi All,

Ashley from MyUS here. Just wanted to answer a couple of questions:
@gregmonarch - regarding the DATE - that was an error in our blog! It has been updated now, but essentially we are also offering 20% off shipments until the end of the year, if you sign up for the one year free membership by December 4th. That sentence now reads submit your ship requests by December 29 to ensure you receive the 20% shipping discount (and to ensure your package is processed in time). You can of course submit a ship request at a later date without a 20% discount, and you do not have to specify what date you will do so, just submit the ship request whenever you are ready!

You are free to cancel your membership at any time, however if you do not cancel your membership prior to the one year period, you will be rolled onto a paid annual plan.

Regarding GST - it is now the law (since July last year) that any retailer/shipping service shipping goods to Australia that are worth under $1,000 must charge 10% GST on their invoice. This amount is then paid by the retailer/shipping service to the Australian Government. @Gregmonarch - you will only pay GST once.

    @gregmonarch regarding your example shipment:
    With MyUS, costs:
    - 10% GST
    - Our slowest shipping service = USPS (7-14 days) at $16.99, or our fast service is through DHL Express (1-4 days) at $26.94. You could save 20% on this by signing up prior to Dec 4 and shipping prior to the end of the year.

    Thanks!

    • Missed this before - thanks.
