  • How is this different from the previous deal? Where is the previous deal I can't find it?

    EDIT - I see instead of just refering to all refurb laptops you are focusing on this one.

    • The previous posting was removed by Ozbargain because it wasn't about a specific product. We have 12 new refurb laptop models just arrived today, with many of each in stock.

    Doesnt seem like a good deal, when you can get this, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/49552

    • +1, better specs, better price and new…

      • Yea, the hp laptop has better cpu, faster and more ram, better graphics, usb 3.0, weighs less, bigger hard drive, $140 cheaper and it's not refurbished.

        This toshiba does have backlit keyboard, good speakers, tv tuner.

  • Least you are learning from your first post, bring on the next new post.

  • GUYS you missed the MAIN POINT SHEESH…. !

    This Toshi is a QUAD CORE with 8 threads running at 1.73 -2.93(boost).
    The HP is a DUAL CORE with 4 threads running at 2.7-3.4(boost).

    DO THE MATHS: Total Threaded Speeds
    Toshi: 13.84 - 23.44GHz (6MB Cache)(OLD)(45nm)
    HP: 10.8 - 13.6GHz (4MB Cache)(New)(35nm)

    TOSHI KILLS THE HP (Turbo), If your a CAD designer, Video Encoder or use Multi-threaded programs !

    • 23.44GHz…? lol. It doesn't work like that.

      Lets allow a (generous) 30% gain for HT…
      i7's clock to their lowest speed when running all cores, so…
      1.73x4x1.3 = 9GHz for the i7 quad.
      2.7x2x1.3 = 7.2GHz for the i7 dual.

  • Avoid - Qosmios are known world wide for display failures. Toshiba recently took a MONTH to get a warranty repair done on one for an elderly friend of mine. Garbage, just like the Dell 1720s.

    • For several years they did have issues with motherboards and onboard video card failure that would effect almost all this line of machines.

      Mostly though they extended the warranties on them as they were well known to fail.

      Beautifull machine though pity it actually has to be used lol and you cant just look at it :)

      Whats wrong with Dell 1720's

      I have an Inspiron 1720 still going strong - never overheated in 3 years

      • I'm glad to hear it. Other users, including a client of mine, have had very different experiences. It's a global problem with this model as well. At first the power supply seems to fail. It gets replaced, but then the next one seems to fail as well - the light goes out as soon as it's connected with the laptop. There's a motherboard fault. Dell have known about it since within the first year of production but the fault was still left uncorrected and Dell will not replace the boards outside of the 12 month warranty.
