  • It's been this price very often on the ebay site as dell has 20 percent off very often

  • It’s been as low as $431 a few times, and also they’re phasing it out for a new model soon. Cheap as chips for a 240hz panel!

  • Why does Dell use TN display on so many of their models

    • -1

There are no 240hz IPS panels yet

      • Incorrect. In fact, Dell even sell one:

        https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/alienware-27-gaming-monitor-…

There'll be a 25" model soon enough as well, but I'd honestly just eye off any 240Hz TN with the updated panel, or cross my fingers for a 240Hz VA panel that is able to do a decent 200Hz (there's one 27" FHD one right now, but other panel variants on the way, I'm not very hopeful though).

The only 240Hz TN that meets that spec right now in Australia is the MSI Oculux NXG252R, and it's just too expensive for what it is. The response times are almost there for IPS, but TN has come so far recently that I think most people would prefer that for 240Hz, and then look at VA for 144Hz (again, updated panels, probably with strobing/BFI).

  • Can any one comment on what would be the best video card to pair with the AW2518HF to get the most out of it?

    Thnx

    • What games do you play?

      • It's for my son. He plays a wide range of things, but the majority of the time it's fortnite. I dare say it will be mostly FPS's. However i ended up buying one of these https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/499390 ,so i imagine it will be a great match and hopefully pushes the monitor to its limits. I got the monitor for 314 refurbed couldn't resist at that price point. Originally my plan was to get a box around the $1000 mark but that deal seemed to be worth the extra money.

I will definitely be using it for my gaming once he is sleeping!

        • That's a ripper system with a great monitor. Good choice mate

        • It's only a 1080p monitor, so that system shouldn't have any trouble getting decent FPS at that resolution. Just lookup on YouTube "2080 super 1080p" and see what FPS people are getting in the kind of games you'd be playing. If it's over 144fps, then this monitor is definitely worth it for very smooth gameplay.
