    How is delivery so cheap!

    • +1

I don't know.. I searched a bunch of remote places and it was always $7.95

      • +3

Regardless, i'd jump at this if my mrs allowed it, had to settle with a soundbar with her…

        • +1

That sounds about right. It is a pretty ugly set, though.

  • +1

still need a receiver to go with this right?

    • +2

      correct

      • any recommendations on receiver to go with this?

        • +2

          Denon AVR-X1500H
          Yamaha RX-V685

Really anything around the $800-1000 mark. There's no bad buys in AV receivers.

        • I've been using this Marantz one

It's been pretty rock solid and I run it through Yamaha speakers with pretty good results. Tight bass, decent mid range.
It ran a lot better through my old Mission front and rears, but that's a story for another day.

The centre channel did take a bit of fiddling, but I think that's probably because I still have the Mission centre speaker.

If you don't need 7.2 channels, then the 5.2 is a bit cheaper too

May be a bit of overkill for this speaker package though.

          • @Tiggrrrrr: I would avoid the slim models. They will have cut corners somewhere in the power amplification department to make it that small.

I don't think it's over kill. Good quality amplification is good for any speakers. Even better when you ultimately upgrade down the line.

            • @tp0: Normally I'd agree, but this is rock solid, despite being slimline.
Just make sure you have adequate cooling as I leave mine on 24/7

        • Maybe something by Yamaha.
You can get an extra 20% off using code TODDSBF for the RX-V485 or HTR-5072.
(Free shipping to east coast only)

Another deal here if you want to compare the prices.

    • +1

You could pair it with this.

      https://www.digitalcinema.com.au/harman-kardon-avr-151s-5-1-…

Not a bad receiver for $99

      • That's a phenomenal price.
If I was in NSW I'd be at the store now. lol.

        • For $700 (these speakers and that receiver)- boom you would have a good setup.

        • +1

they do delivery for $30 to VIC, just chat them

  • beside the lack of subwoofer, anyone if this was a better specs speaker than the Jamo one a few years back? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/88465

    • +1

Haha, I actually bought the Jamo set from that deal, and still going strong today. One of my best OzBaragain purchases for sure! I matched it with a Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver and Wharfedale SW-150 subwoofer and it sounds pretty awesome for movies, and quite decent for music too. To be honest, there is enough bass from the speakers, so I often leave the sub off. Not sure how this Yamaha set compares but it looks to be a similar spec.

      • mine is still in box. but i also did buy the same subwoofer as well from jbhifi. yes that was a great deal.

  • +2

I have these they're great would recommend!

  • +2

Looks like the same price but free delivery (with code FREEDELIVERYONLINE) at Joyce Mayne
    https://www.joycemayne.com.au/yamaha-ns51-series-5-1-channel…

  • Does anyone know the exact speakers in this? As in the product codes for each?

    • +1

      I'm thinking the speakers are:
      Yamaha NS-P51
      Yamaha NS-F51
      Yamaha NS-SW100

Have managed to confirm that these are the speakers with it

  • Would these be any good as karaoke speakers (turning off the 5.1 function)?

Am currently using PC speaker - logitech z906 and am looking to build a karaoke setup with a mixer + microphones + laptop

  • Damn I'm looking for just a decent powered subwoofer for hopefully ~$300 or less but most deals that come up are for a whole set which I don't need.

  • Anyone have the physical dimensions of the speakers? Need to check they fit or if i need a new entertainment unit as well.

    Thanks!

    • +3

Speaker dimensions in mm. (Width, depth, height)

      Floor:

      160 D
      135 H

      355 H

      Surrounds:
      150 W
      145 D
      255 H

      • Legend thanks

  • Man it's really hard to commit to these without giving them a go. I bought a $600 Pioneer 5.1 system from JB like 8 years ago that I'm still using. There is an extremely good chance this Yamaha system will be considerably better yeah?

    • +1

Hard to say. Pioneer varies from cheapy HTIAB up to some mid tier stuff.

  • Would this be a good setup for purely playing music or would there be better options for around a similar price?
Not really interested in hooking up the TV etc to it, would prefer no wires for that.

    • Depends on the type of music you enjoy. If you enjoy treble heavy music like jazz or acoustic you may be fine with a higher end 2.0 setup. If you enjoy anything with bass, IMO this is a cracking deal. I had one of the old versions of this second hand and I think it's a brilliant entry level home theatre or music system. I bought this deal to use as a secondary system.

      • +1

        Good to know, ta.
All sorts of music but mainly electronic and rock/grunge/metal… although I'm growing out of listening to metal.

        • I love my home theatre and mainly listen to electronic music. I say go for it!

  • +1

Any suggestions of the best stands for the rear speakers?

  • Does the pack come with speaker wire?

    • +2

I purchased this pack yesterday and yes it does.

  • can someone advise when this price is valid till ??
