Full credit to doublezero1 and thriftee for their comments in the Target deal which is now only available 'in store'.

Amazon have matched Target's price for this set, not sure how long Amazon will keep the price.

With cash rewards and shopback it will end up being similar priced with the $10 Target newsletter discount.

If you had an AMEX and saved the spend $100 and save $20 offer, you'll end up only paying $153 which is an absolute bargain for this set.

  • Wow.. I think this is the lowest it's been?

    • +1

Before today the cheapest from memory was about $206 from David Jones

      • Yeah.. I got it on that offer.. Bummed that it's another $33 off.. LOL..

        • +1

Haha I think I bought it for $216 the previous year through David Jones. For this price had to buy a second one, least I can keep one sealed and one to assemble and relive my youth.

Just need to explain it to the missus somehow… :D

@Shads: Or you build both and show both on display (transformed and untransformed)

      • I bought from Lego online shop for $202 with free Christmas tree set just a few days ago. This deal is definitely the lowest in history.

  • Won't get any cheaper than this with the Target $10/$15 stack

  • This model is awesome. I change it from Cats to Robot and back every few months. I wish they would do another one like this.

    • I think they will , surely it doesn't have to be submitted on the ideas page .

You could buy a second one so you'd always have both modes for display.

    • Yeah it's awesome.. except voltron doesn't stand correctly… still good

  • This is a great price. I just need to convince my self that it was okay to pay $280 for it last year.

You had one year joy ahead

      • Yep that’s what I’m telling my self.

Buy this one and then you've saved money on both as an average. Winning!

      • This is the OzBargain way. I have been thinking about it.

  • Target website showing "Online Only". I am confused.
Was planning to David Jones for a price match???

    • Buy from Amazon

      • Now it is totally sold out in Target (online and in-store).
I guess I have to go to Amazon…

    • Target deal is sold out unless you happened to be able to find it in store. Not sure if DJ will price match Amazon but always worth asking.
But I would just buy it from Amazon to save any hassles, also as Target has sold out Amazon may jack the price back up again at any time.

Awesome. Thanks OP. Turns out that I had a $10 Amazon credit, and also used 7% Shopback for this.

Will cost me about $153 vs the RRP of $289! I thought I'd miss out on this set, but it looks like Christmas came early.

    • Not sure if shopback / CR still have the same fine print for Amazon, but in the past you wouldn’t receive cashback if you used store credit as part of your purchase. Hope you still get it though.

      • Fair point. Thanks for the heads up.

        • I think they may have since fixed this to still include CB on money portion. Hope you get it.

Cannot add to card, item probably sold out?
    EDIT back up to $270

  • Remember there are also discounted target gift cards available which should work out cheaper if you stack with newsletter voucher

  • price changed ~~~

    • Thanks! I've marked this as expired.

  • price back up…. dang!

  • Things always on sale while people are working. Well, obviously not everyone. Just me.

You mean you don't check OzB every 5 mins? shame on you

  • anyone have any leads on a display case for this? something thats reasonably priced ie. not the ridiculous $70-100 perspex packs i see via ebay etc

    • Maybe a display cabin for more future legos?
