omg the normal price of these are $35??

    • +12

at the end of the day, they still just thongs!

      target sells'em for like $5.

      • +2

agree. bought a pair of these scummers last year and they lasted one month. the fronts on them ripped where the hole is

  • +8

ive never seen Havaianas over $25 a pair…where the hell did they pull $35 each from

    • +4

      Must be gold plated…

    • +3

the ones with the "metallic" writing are about $35. but those aren't part of this deal, so the $70 is BS.

      • just checked and the $70 includes their usual shipping cost which is free with this deal so $30 which to be honest is about right….. anyway just bought 2 why not!!!

        • ok, well fair enough i guess.

      • +13

It's a bargain though if you want this brand…

      • +3

You seems to neg every deal that gets posted here.

This is a good price for this particular product, if you don't want to buy them move on.

      • +1

I payed 25 bucks for a pair so this is a bargain for me. In the meantime you can wait around for Big W to have those 1 dollar sales, which is also a bargain. But apples and oranges.

        • +2

To be fair, it's more like Fujis and Granny Smiths.

    • you should see how much Havvies sell in places like Singapore…I saw a pair for $80ish SGD!

  • +17

    $35 for thongs? Geez…

    • Can anyone tell me why these things are so expensive?

      They even look cheap…

The real question is, are they double pluggers?

      • +2

I don't know about double pluggers. Havaianas have been the most durable and comfortable (not too soft, not too hard) thongs I've ever worn. They are suitable to go from beach to day wear without looking scrappy. Never buy a cheap pair of thongs again after owning Havaianas. Find something good and stick with it.

I do prefer the metallic ones though (not on sale here).

        • I've gone through heaps of thongs, cheap and expensive. I still prefer the white and black double pluger thongs with the little dragons on the black strap.

  • considering.. but there is such a limited range, brown and blue for blokes…. then again it is cheap…

  • +1

At first I thought this was a good deal, but the 6 colours available on the OzThongs site are very limited and well, kinda ugly so doesn't really make the deal as good as it first seems.

  • +4

Designs seem meh. If your'e in Adelaide, check out the Sports & Liquidation sale at the Adelaide Showgrounds. Better Havi designs for $10 a pair, well when I went there a few weeks ago, sale goes to 14th August so should be plenty left.

  • +1

where these thongs came from, they cost 50c to make, $35 my ***

    • Want me to call your bluff?

      • yes please

        • +6

I think you think I was replying to you about the
          Manufacturing cost still…

        • +1

Had to think about that for a sec.

          I think that's excellent value for a donkey ;)

        • I think that you think i think u were replying to me about the manufacturing cost, oh yes i did…

      • +1

surely they can't cost that much, it's just plastic with holes punched in and more plastic. But maybe $20 for the ink used to print Havaiana.

  • +4

My last pair cost me $30 from a surf store (oh the price we pay for comfy shoes/thongs!!), but i guess if you haven't worn a pair before, you don't really understand what they are really like. WAY better than $2 thongs from the Warehouse etc…!

    • +7

but if you get 15 of the cheaper thongs, you can make you know, one giant thong?

      • +1

giant thong means giant feet. and you know what that means ;)

        • +3

it means you are an "islander" from NZ or Samoa? :)

    • +5

best comfy thongs i bought were from BigW, $3 and still going strong after 3 years or so.
However not as "cool" as havaianas.

But nobody pinches mine when i leave them on the beach though……..

  • I bought an awesome pair of thongs from sams warehouse.
they were not the hard "foam" type thongs but more of a spongey type. only $2.
    awesomely comfortable.

    • I bought 3 pairs when Rivers had the $2 thong sale - they were the "awesomely comfy spongey types" you described.

My mate bought a pair of havijayjays (or whatever they're called) around the same time and talked up his $30 thongs.

I must say, his still look like thongs. All 3 of mine now look like dog chews. No, we don't have a dog.

  • -3

    lol at $35 rrp..

I have never paid over $20 for a havainas. and on sale they are about $10-$15.

  • -2

not a good deal to me…

  • I still think it expensive though.
    Thank the post anyway.

  • was looking for the thing that set these apart from other thongs… doesn't look like anything much really!

  • +1

These are the best thongs ever…my last pair lasted me for a year and I put them through hell (1 month during rainy season in Thailand/2 months in London/road trip across the USA). I also stacked my scooter in Thailand and I swear these thongs saved me from ripping my big toe off. BEST. EVER.

  • good deal! is this for sydney as well or just melbourne? they are like $30 per pair now average..

    • It says free delivery aus wide.

  • +1

Awesome deal I missed this one so thanks!

  • +1

i never see havi's on sale, so this is a pretty good deal!

  • i just bought the voucher, and they only have black, blue & pink. they also dont have the size that i want them in!

    • The voucher is good until Nov, but I really should've checked sizes before I bought it :\

      • How do u check sizes? I just bought 3 pairs! I figured great xmas gifts but what colour will they send me?

  • my eyes apparently have tricked me again, few hours ago I thought it was a pair of them for $24, meh, but then I looked at it again it's actually 2 pairs!
    thanks OP!

    • +1

      Hence the title ;-)

  • +1

How do I check stock size etc before buying this voucher? great deal if I can get the sizes I want.

    • need to know the same!

  • -2

these suck. what a ripoff. bought a pair last year and they lasted one month. the front piece ripped on them. kmart ones last 4 times as long

    • +2

You don't need to repeat yourself.

    • +1

you must have effed up feet or something because Havies makes the best thongs ive ever worn seriously. the brand might my stylish bit it certainly DOES NOT LACK in quality. ive had my havies for 3 years now, good as new !

  • +2

Havaianas are the ultimate in marketting.

"hey look, heres some thongs worth $2… I think I will write the word Havaiana on them and sell them for $35 a pair."

Honestly, if you are stupid enough to pay full price for these, you deserve to pay their prices.

    • -1

      LOL! idiot

  • +1

Funny how those who haven't bought them bag them and those who have bought them adore them.

Anyway just wondering where could I get these for $10-$15 that people have been claiming these go on sale for, also when are these sales? If the next one is at end of summer I might prefer this deal :)

    • +1

Wonder no longer - $10 a pair at Powerbuys. Have been for at least a couple of months. $10 shipping per order though, so only better value if you are going to order more than a couple of pairs. Not sure if you can pickup from the Retravison store that runs powerbuys. Here is the link: http://www.powerbuys.com.au/havaiana-beach-thongs.html

In terms of branded goods in my personal experience, there are two kinds of branded goods (generally, exceptions being the ultraluxe).

There are branded goods which justify their price mostly with regards to a better quality material, workmanship, detailing, etc., and there are branded goods that just purely rely on marketing.

While I do see this as a definite bargain, I personally wouldn't take up the offer for the latter categorical reason.

    :D

  • I've owned heaps of these and nothing else comes close for comfort or durability. RRP of $70 for 2, yeah right! More like low 20's. Also, I find the fit/size can be variable between styles.

  • -1

Guys, you get what you pay for, stop ask stupid question. Why a Porsche costs far more than a Hyundai??

    • +7

      Ridiculous analogy.

  • Don't really wear thongs. They hurt the webbing between my toes. But if you want them for the brand, go ahead.

  • +1

These are longer lasting than kmart or cheapie thongs.

Cheap thongs tend to flatten quickly. I've had a pair of hav's for 3yrs and they still feel like new.

  • Uhhh wait up, how do you pick colours/sizes and where do you use the voucher?!

  • +2

so most people here buy those $5 thongs from kmart? wow, what a surprise!

  • I love Havvies but don't like the very limited designs they have on the site so didn't buy.

    "Share for a Free Deal
After you buy the deal, you'll get a unique link to share. If three people buy the deal using your link, then your deal is free."

Good deal for you OP? ;)

  • Thanks for sharing! :)

  • +1

Has anyone else seen this in their voucher:

"This voucher will become active on 08/09/2011. Your payment will be processed at that time."

Does this mean they cant be redeemed until September? i dont recall seeing anything like that in the conditions.

    • Yeah same here, what the heck?

      • Ohhh WTF! they cant be serious!

        • +1

I've raised a ticket to find out what the story is. I'm sort of hoping that the date format is US, and it's actually 9 August, which is still pretty average considering there was no mention in the conditions.

    • i've also raised a ticket regarding this. i'll post the response here if i get one.

    • I have ordered my thongs, and the dates are all in American, so i'm assuming this, but will wait till i get my 'postage' confirmation email…

      • How'd you actually order your thongs Bec?

        • +1

Just followed what the instructions said (from Jump On It):
          • Visit www.jumponit.ozthongs.com.au to place you(r) order
          • Select your style, colour and size (there are now 9 colours, up from 6)
          • Proceed to your shopping cart
          • Enter <code> into the discount/coupon code field
          • Proceed to checkout

          Done!

Just logged in to see my update, all dates are in US (says i placed my order 8/4/11 - which was on Thursday, so the 4th)

        • +1

I appreciate the help Bec, but a couple things are going wrong:

-I don't see a code area to enter a voucher into during checkout?
-I bought the coupon, but haven't even received a code yet? Here's what I see at the moment: http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/3891/screenshot20110806at…

-My payment hasn't even processed through my bank account? Why do I have to wait a month for this? I'm pretty confused at the moment.

    • same here..exact same date showed on mine. annoying, have the vouchers but can't use it….

  • GOD DAMN THESE ONE DAY DEALS!…I felt like something fishy was going on!

Everyone should spam and raise tickets.

  • If you cannot order until September 9, this should be detailed in the deal BEFORE PURCHASE.

    Very dodgy.

  • @ Paradox (and anyone else who may have probs):
    http://s166.photobucket.com/albums/u108/justwigitfashions/Mi…

    • Thing is, our orders are still pending and we don't have the coupons under my purchases/my coupons. We probably have to wait until next month…

      • Wonder why that is, that i have the code already (the following day after i made the purchase) and you dont have yours (and mine has also been charged on my credit card). My friend at work also had her code and bought them on Friday..?

        • Apparently, there's still one more day left with the offer and "Your payment will be processed within 1 business day", so hopefully I'll get the code by tomorrow :)

  • I can't believe how many have been sold - currently 8,326 on LivingSocial, and 11,463 on Jump On It = 19,789 purchases, that means 39,578 pairs of thongs, also 79,156 single thongs, lol. Thats a heck of a lot of rubber!

  • Just got my coupon via email and ordered. Only to realise the coupon was the code under my vouchers at LivingSocial. Oh well, it's done now.

  • Just ordered and put in my code, was showing total as ~$55 though. Hopefully they don't charge me any more :|

  • Finally able to order a couple days ago, but the status of the order is still at 'pending' with OzThongs, anyone actually received their thongs yet?

    • +1

Mines the same….sounds like they have over extended themselves to say the least:

      http://www.facebook.com/pages/OzThongs/157425247621972

I've requested a refund as it doesn't look good

      • Oh that eased me off a bit, thanks for the link. Quite a joke of a promotion if they weren't prepared for some many orders to stream through, seems like a lot of people are in the same situation as us.

  • this really sux.! i made orders at ozthongs 3 times… 1st time.. account got deleted 2days later.. 2nd time.. recreated account and order again.. 2 days later log in and in order history there is nothing.. 3rd time… is the same..! CANNOT ORDER @ OZTHONGS .. how can i get a refund? this really sux.. they don't even email and tell u the order got cancelled or account was deleted.. has anyone got their thongs yet? or is their order shipped?

  • I have also requested to cancel my purchase as well (through Jump On It), the deal would have been great if it stopped after a thousand or there-abouts, but they sold about 40,000 thongs and the company cannot keep up with this demand (about 6 weeks waiting). So just cancel it if you don't want to wait!

  • Was actually going to cancel mine, but have decided to stick around and see how it goes, as the company is trying to do the right thing with sending out the thongs, but they really should have had a limit to how many should have been sold. We will see!

  • lol Looks like they're doing the deal again. http://livingsocial.com/deals/113337-two-pairs-of-havaianas-…

  • They seem to be providing updates via their fb page…but no reply to emails or phonecalls. Such a load of crap to save a few bucks on thongs! Once bitten…
