CPU/GPU Bundle: AMD Ryzen 5 3500X & MSI RTX 2080 Super Ventus OC Bundle: $1199 Delivered ($1170 + $29 Delivery) @ Techfast

Have talked Luke into a better price for the 3500x/2080s CPU/GPU bundle. You're looking at $969 + $200 (GPU/CPU) with shipping. Pretty easily beats the deals from non eBay stores and competes with the eBay deals for equivalent hardware. Bundle places the 2080s at one of the best prices right now and the 3500x at equivalent pricing to the 2600 (lose SMT for significantly better single threaded performance) and the best deal on the 9400f (which this seems to beat, and has a far better upgrade path to)

Don't get to caught up on the branding with these. Ryzens zen 2 parts single threaded performance bump is pretty negligible across the board (that is 3500x through 3950x), the only extras you'll really get with higher tier zen parts are better cooling (not relevant for this vs 3600) and higher core counts/SMT. SMT is largely irreverent in games right now though, so better off pocketing the extra cash over the 3600.
Unfortunately very little in the way of reviews on this, but here's Toms Hardware's "review" on it for some look into the chip vs the 3600 and 9400f.

Finally, as per BA in the original post

  • Any details on other specs?
    Can Luke provide some info?

    • +2

Howdy, which specs did you need info on?

      • Which cooler does the 3500x come with and is the GPU in retail box?

        • Pretty sure it'll be the Wraith Stealth for the CPU

        • As far as I'm aware it's the same included with the 2600 and 2600 (so the wraith stealth).

This sure does bring back memories, Howdy Luke and Ninja warrior :)
Can't believe it's already been 1 year since i bought my first Techfast system. My GPU and CPU is still going strong to this day

      • Thought it was for a full computer, my bad

    • +1

This is just the GPU and CPU. Will edit to clarify

  • Anyone have an idea on building the mini-ITX with luke's hardware?

    • Cougar QBX or Silverstone SG13 (I'm planning on putting my build on shelf next to TV)
      SFX power supply
      MSI AM4 Mini-ITX B450I GAMING PLUS AC DDR4 Motherboard
      16GB (2x8GB 3200MHZ DDR4)
      Corsair AIO cooler

  • Any chance on getting a 3500x/1660 combo?

  • Currently planning on running a 3700x and 2080 super combo. Would the 3700x be overkill? Outside of gaming I don't really do anything heavy.

    • +3

Probably. The 3500x or 3600 have pretty similar performance as per Techspot/Hardware Unboxed's review on them. The big draw is the extra cores.

Wouldn't be to worried about "future proofing". The cash saved ($250 - $300) will likely get you superior single threaded performance next year, possibly even with 8 cores. AMD don't seem to be slowing down with their progression and, as far as I can tell, AM4 has at least 1 more gen in it (ryzen 4000 that is).

      • Thank you, great answer!

  • Just wondering whether this could be done for the Ryzen 7 3700X or 3800X? I'd be really interested in a deal for those.

  • It's crazy to think that for $270 more you get a case/motherboard/ram/hard drive/power supply/labour:
