Google Pixel 4 XL 64GB $1077, 128GB $1219 @ Harvey Norman

470

Great price for the Pixel 4 XL 64GB and 128GB respectively. I believe these are the best prices I've seen for the XL model of the Pixel 4.

($1023.15 / $1158.05 @ Officeworks with Price Beat)

hate to say it.. not impressed with the Pixel 4

    • Interesting. I'm looking at picking up the 4 XL (current 2 XL user) what aren't you happy with?

      • +1

        Most low battery life

        • My 4xl battery life is fine. Most days go to bed and still have 60%+.

        @AdamFury
I have the 2xl and was intending to upgrade, but there's a few things that made me reconsider.

        1. No fingerprint scanner. Apparently you can unlock the phone even with your eyes shut, which is quite scary.

        2. No 4k 60fps in video. All flagships have this except Google.

        3. Battery life not the best.

Hopefully pixel 5 or Samsung s11 will be a good upgrade.

Also no expandable storage with low storage options was another factor that put me off! (128GB is not enough!!)

          • @alexisagun8: What are people putting on their phones that makes 128gb not enough?

            • +1

@universe: Eight years of photos in my case but most of them are on the cloud thanks to switching Pixels (had Pixel 2 64GB which was reaching capacity, then replaced by another one when first one died. Second Pixel 2 is now about to be replaced by my Pixel 4 128GB)

            • +1

@universe: Some apps can get quite large, like facebook, snapchat, instagram all get to 1GB+ with the way they cashe data for future faster load times. Also tons of high res photos & videos (I edit holiday footage from my holidays and export the final cut back to my phone).
Also huge on music & downloading my Spotify favourites in highest fidelity onto my phone for offline / not needing data usage :)

If all the leaks are anything to go by, the Samsung S11 is going to be absolutely insane.

        • +1

I was in the same situation as you and I was really tossing between staying with pixel or going samsung or oneplus. Decided to go with note 10 for $850 and I am happy with it so far. I loved my pixel but biggest problem was battery! I think there's no compromise in recent samsung phones at the moment..

        • +1

About 4k60fps, it doesn't really bother me. I got goPro7B and still use fullhd with 128gb memory, found no need of 4K for general use.

          Miss the fingerprint a bit.

Battery life is quite a personal issue, my p4xl stay 4h sot and still got 44% today (mostly web surfing and chatting, gmap, some forums, read news on wifi and 4g) in the other days it can live through my day easily. And yes it's just average battery compared to others but not really bad. So why do you need 'best battery'?

People always compare p4xl with iPhone 11PM, which is a heavier, bulkier, and nearly x1.5 the price @64Gb - Au1279 vs 1899, event the smaller iphone 11 pro cost ~17xx.

Most of customer just asking for something they rarely use and expect the thing they will buy is the best with cheapest price. It's a dream never come true!
Anw, find the one it suite u and your pocket then it is 'perfect', not the best of everything!

          • @JinK: You can get the S10 for less and it has more features and better battery life and more storage.

            • @onlinepred: Sure, specially if you can get Note 10 256gb ~ $850, it's crazy price.

Anw i got my p4xl before all the sale came online, with just 949 bucks. Not a bad deal 4 me.

Yeah the Note 10 and S10 ranges are pretty much better in every single way (and you can get for cheaper). Only if pure Android is a must get the Pixel, even then Samsung UI is becoming very good and you can customise heaps with launchers and all.

I just cant get over the big bezels on the pixel… My S8 had smaller bezels….

Google are going to be releasing an update which will fix the unlocking with eyes closed issue from what I've read.

The other things missing are :

          • Limited onboard storage options
          • No unlimited Google Photos storage
          • No ultra wide lens
      • +2

Mainly because there are actually no real improvements from Pixel 3 aside from the Camera, and even with the Camera upgrade, it is not as good as other flagship mobile phones on the same price range. Yes it is a great phone but for the price you pay it isn't that great. Other's have also stated that yes the battery life on the Pixel 4 is lower than the Pixel 3 which is another drawback.
IMO, why make a new product that have less or worse features than the previous model? fingerprint scanner, battery life/performance yet costs more.

Yep, no #teampixel for me this year.

Was tempted by the 3a XL on sale at the moment then I remembered:

      • Pixels (all android phones really) get janky after some time
      • No iMessage and android messaging is a cluster &%*$
      • Battery life is meh when new; will be even worse after some time

      Definitely #teamiphone11 this year.

  • Happy with my Pixel 3 - 64gb (yay for the unlimited full quality Google Photo uploads). Got it during the Harvey Norman Pixel 3 bundling with Google Home Max.

    • +1

Pretty happy with mine too. Miss quite a lot of stuff coming from a Samsung s8 though. The battery life is absolutely unacceptable if you have bad reception. The phone will drain itself like no tomorrow

  • I want a 128Gb white XL - but they appear to be out of stock in all stores. The HN website will let you order one anyhow - but my understanding is these orders are fulfilled out of the stores anyhow - so im a little skeptical about if these will be sent quickly.

    • I can't speak for HN but when I visited all 4 JB Sydney stores last Friday for the white P4 128Gb, none of them had stock (none since mid Nov they said) and none were committed to accept any order. They would however accept order for black. At the risk that the white would take forever to reach JB, I simply ordered via Google direct (last Fri) to take advantage of the $220 credit and the phone was delivered today. I hope HN will deliver yours soon

      • Ah cool. The JB guy had to get one transferred from the Bathurst store for me, should arrive this week. Looks like they massively underprovisioned this particular spec which must be the most popular.

I'm mostly fine with my 4xl, like most things better than my Pixel 2.

Really really really missing my finger print scanner though, that was just so convenient. Ended up turning off face unlock because it just kept unlocking even just walking past the phone, back to ye-old swipe code.

Other than that, no real complaints, upgraded due to Pixel 2 battery finally dying after 2 years.

    • +2

There's an option in settings to not automatically unlock with face unlock, you just need to swipe on the screen instead. Quite convenient I have found.

      • Ohhh, awesome, thanks Ill try it out

  • Pixel 4XL owner here. Came from a 2XL.

I have found the battery life to be adequate - it isn't amazing, but it isn't the absolute worst you'll find. I'd say it is pretty on par with what my 2XL was like at launch.

Lack of a fingerprint scanner isn't too bad, the face unlock ends up being super convenient and even works in bed/dark!

The Soli chip is a bit gimmicky, but being able to swipe to the next or previous song while driving is a godsend, saves you pulling over to change songs.

Overall, a good modest upgrade from my 2XL and any similar-era phone.

    • I have found the battery life to be adequate

When that battery starts to age over the next 12 months, it will go from adequate to F😤😤😤😤😤😤KKK really fast.

  • Expired
    4XL 128GB $1429 (HN) and $1427 (OW)

  • Ordered this deal and got confirmation but nothing since, No pickup or correspondence (even after sending inquiries)

Anyone had issues who ordered this deal?

    • Nope. Ordered my Pixel 4 128GB on the 29th from Liverpool NSW early morning and it was ready to collect in two hours.

What store did you pick and was it in stock at the time you placed the order?

    • I ordered pixel 4xl 128gb White, and got an email saying backed order after Cyber Monday, then yesterday I finally successfully contacted them and had been told that it is out of stock, and they don't know how long could get supply, ask me either wait or get refund. If I know they are out of stock on Black Friday, I will definately choose Google's $220 gift card. soooooooooo upset!!!!! never shop online from HN!!

  • Has anyone else got problems with their 4xl overheating?
Dunno if mine is a lemon or it is just not suitable to be used in Australian summer.

    • Nope. How do you know yours is overheating? Is it just getting hot from playing games then it reboots? Just get it fixed under warranty if it is.

  • I keep getting notifications saying that my phone has overheated and might not work properly. It is happening when using Google maps and taking photos. My partners 2xl is working fine while performing these tasks.
