A Warning about FTC Computers - Based on My Experience

I thought it may not be a bad idea for this forum post given how often FTC Computers deals are posted on this site. Admin feel free to delete not allowed.

I bought 2080 ti graphics card from FTC Computers ebay store based on the fact I see their deals posted here all the time. The listing said orders are sent via auspost 1 day after payment.

I am now 5 days after payment and 4 days since they marked my package as shipped. When I check the shipping it say scheduled for pick up tomorrow!

I went back to the deals and found that a whole heap of OzBargainers have experience this poor business.

I have tried to contact them, but like other users here, no luck.

I thought it was only fair to post a topic for people considering buying from this business, that their FoS with their delivery times. And they may want to factor it in.

Hopefully this post will pop when people search FTC Computers. Feel free to add your stories if you also feel for their BS.

I am also having the same issue with this mob. Item was marked as sent on Sunday 1st Dec but there is no tracking info provided. When I contacted them, I was told the courier is busy and the item has not been picked up. I reckon there is no stock.

    • +2

I would report it to eBay like others

      • Surprisingly, I received it today. Startrack delivered it to the wrong place 100m down the road from where I am. Not sure what kind of feedback I should give.

        • +1

Truthful feedback. Just make sure the courier feedback isn't counted in that (bar giving the courier name if you think it's important) if they gave the right details.

  • My tracking is still showing as scheduled for pick up.

  • +2

wow, I almost bought the video card from these guys because they were the cheapest at the time, lucky I made the right choice. Some times cheapest ain't worth the trouble.

  • ask ebay for a refund

  • +1

Thanks for the warning. I'll avoid them.
Edit: Looks like they're (profanity) people in other deals too: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/498829

I received my card after pestering them. For some reason I cant call them as it doesn't go through (I'm assuming they've blocked my number after I was able to call them previously) so I threatened ebay action if I didn't receive my item by the due date (last week).

Amazingly they sent the item from QLD to NSW in 26 hours and I received my item. The box was covered in dents but the card itself was fine.

Do NOT use these clowns as sendle is terrible and these people are shady af.

    • What product did you order and when did you order it?

I see the OzBargainers have already started:
    https://bit.ly/2Rpo2qE

    I think I already read:

Insanely long shipping time bought a rtx 2070 off ebay
7 days later the only progress for my package is that it received a package number. What? Not even shipped out yet!

    and

    in a thread somewhere lol

    • Can one of the neggers explain, rather than leaving me to be as my username says :(

  • Thanks for the warning ill avoid them

  • If it's any consolation, they claim that the final batch will be shipped this arvo…

    • +1

I just lodged a complaint. It's transitioning from arvo into evening very soon.

    • What did you order? I bought a 2080s and got the same message. It feels like they're just dolling out generic excuses.

    • Mine just got shipped about 30 minutes ago. Ordered a 2070 Super on Monday.

  • Just for some background in the PC stores in OZ

lots of computer stores are drop shippers.

What this means is they list products which are "IN STOCK" at the supplier.

They then take your order and order it at their drop ship supplier.

    Unfortunately, two things

    1. These suppliers don't ship everyday.
    2. This causes stock levels to be wrong cause it only reduces when the item is prepared for shipping by the supplier.

I ordered from another well known computer store. My order has been listed as "Ready for Dispatch" for 3 days.

    It's sad but fairly common.

  • I bought a monitor off their affiliate Panda PC via eBay not too long ago and their service was very fast. From Brisbane to Melbourne metro over night the only drama was that they didn’t supply an invoice as described in their listing and it took me a week of sending a few eBay messages to get an invoice.

  • Damn guess I was lucky, bought a CPU and it arrived on time thankfully. Invoice was in the box as well. Used standard delivery

    • What model card?

      • Was a CPU - Intel i9

  • +1

Yay, second forum post to make OzB front page. Sorry off topic, but I need a win right now.

    • +1

If only it was front page before I bought from them.

    • +2

curtturtle you saved me from buying from them. I almost bit on their Gigabyte RX 5700 XT Gaming OC deal. Glad I saw your post.

  • seems like they are a small business with an issue handling orders/managing their stock. i think just add 1 week on top of your expected delivery imo.

i purchased a card and got it within a week, so no issue on my front

    • We are now at a week and they haven't even posted the items. It is clear they don't actually have the stock and are waiting for deliveries themselves. The worst is that they won't answer people or keep us informed.

      • -2

while this is probably the case and not a good business practice, i dont think u should be concerned about not getting the item.

hopefully the savings offsets the delay

  • Thats a shame, i ordered a monitor from them that arrived dead, they had a new one sent the next day.

  • +1

I was looking at purchasing something through them too and asked them a question on ebay. I never got a response so I never purchased the item as I know their after sales support would then be non existent if the item ever turned up DOA.

I hate how some of these sellers blatantly ignore you. Worst customer service.

  • -1

Damn. Am I the only one thinking people are over reacting a bit because there's a delay in shipping or you will get your stock but the store has a bit of trouble getting extra stock in to fulfill the order volume?

I don't think stores like that would keep 100x 2080ti in stock in anticipation for ebay sales that might generate enough volume.

in regards to the 1 day shipping info on ebay, ebay suck in allowing sellers to give better indications of shipping time and won't allow any customisation.

    • +1

It is simple. If you sell out, say out of stock. Not falsely represent stock and delivery times. I would have ordered elsewhere if I knew the delay was so long.

    • +1

I wouldn't mind so much if they told me straight upfront or had better communication than requiring me to chase them up.

Ultimately, I'm saving $100+ on card but it's taking an extra 2 weeks or so before I can actually use it and a lot of stress trying to work out where it is.

  • Another msg from them last night said that they've shipped out all cards.

I had two 2070S cards on order (a Gigabyte one and a MSI one because the price fell to a point where it was pretty much the same as the Gigabyte one).

The Gigabyte was ordered before Black Friday and it's tracking still isn't updating.

The MSI one was ordered on Black Friday and due for collection on the 6th. Sendle has now updated the tracking to show that it is at the depot. Estimated delivery time is 10th to 12th of Dec to Sydney.

    • +1

I got a Gigabyte one and tracking isn't updating as well.

    • +1

Nope looks like some cards left to be shipped on Monday.
      Lied to again…

      • +1

        Did they inform you otherwise?

        • +1

          That's what they said.

          • +1

@Ctn: This is what they told me:

"hi, there was a shipment delay from the supplier, we have the shipment now and packing team is working non-stop, we will contact you shortly if the order is not sent out by today, allow 24 hours for courier to update the tracking , item is scheduled to leave by 5.30 pm today

the cards are all sent out today"

            • +1

@lolcoaster: I got the exact same message, but didn't get picked up.

  • Hmm bought a monitor from them, does anyone know the courier DD Express which seems to be listed on the tracking info when they sent out my item.
Is there a phone number or contact details for these couriers in Sydney?

  • I ordered a Razer Blade 15 from FTC and it didn't have tracking info, I asked for one and received a tracking number which was based with TNT.

I ordered and paid on Monday the 2nd and it got delivered on the 5th, I can't say I personally had any issues with their eBay store

  • -4

Everyone expecting delivery to door within 3 days like every store can be as quick as amazon /s

  • My short experience with them…. ordered a monitor off ebay (awesome price with code), changed my mind next day. Found their number (on ebay. When you select contact seller, it says they have a mobile number….was the same as store front but i didn't know they were bricks and motar till after). Rang, picked up first time and happily cancelled my order.
    Just my 2c.

    • Given it seems that the problem lies with them not actually holding the stock that their selling. I am sure that canceling a sale would be easy for them to do. I am happy it worked out for you though.

  • +1

Hmm I bought a z390 motherboard and 2070 super off FTC, supposed to be delivered 5/12, haven't received yet. It was marked a shipped the next day but it has no tracking number…

    • I asked for tracking number and they actually said to me that it is coming direct from supplier.
hi, this package is directly send from the supplier's warehouse, we are still waiting for them to provide or update the tracking numbers, we will get the tracking and update promptly. allow us 12 hours to complete this task. thanks.

Haven't got a tracking number yet.

  • Out on courier for delivery this morning according to Sendle.

  • +1

Received the 2070S this morning. 9 days after purchasing.

The graphics card box has a few dings, no bubble wrap/padding used at all. Just placed in a plain plastic satchel. No sign of a tax invoice either, which is needed to claim the free SSD from Gigabyte.

Overall, a neutral experience with FTC. The graphics card itself is fine, but slow postage, not packaged well, and no tax invoice provided with the card.

    • Did your tracking ever update? Do you know when it was sent?

      • It was updated on Saturday as being picked up by the courier, one week after I bought it.

    • I live about 15 minute drive from where it's being posted on, bought on the same date as you and it hasn't even been picked up by Sendle yet!

  • I'll add my experience with them to this. Overall, so far while it hasn't been the best store I've purchased from (and i'd probably avoid them in the future), I'm not as upset about it as some of the other guys on here.
I ordered a MSI 2080Ti on Saturday 30 Nov and paid for express post (this was before i realized how bad they are with shipping).
My order finally shipped on Friday 6th of December with Aus post, my tracking details provided are through Aus Post express, and eBay's postage tracking is all working as it should, so maybe i dodged a bullet by using express post.

I was definitely annoyed that they took a week to ship it, but the seller replied to all my messages (sent through eBay) within an hour of me sending them. I got the same crap about delays due to couriers as everyone else did, but they did at least give me an ETA which they stuck to.
Overall, while the process took a lot longer than i would have liked, they haven't actually been as bad for me as others are saying, and no other stores could touch their pricing, so they were my only choice.

Oh and one other thing, I haven't actually received my card yet, but it hit Perth today so ill either have it today or tomorrow. I hope the item is new and undamaged, otherwise i take back anything i said about them not being so bad :) Is there any way for me to tell whether the card is Aussie stock and not a grey import?

    • I'm in WA as well and paid for Express Post - I ordered on Nov 29th and looks like mine shipped the same time as yours. Aus Post are saying that it missed the cut off on Thursday last week because it was dropped to them at 5.01pm…

They have been pretty responsive on eBay but the physical store can't help with eBay orders at all so there's not much value in hassling them.

Anyway, the story I came to tell was about a mate who placed the same order (MSI 2080Ti) a couple of minutes after me and his order arrived in Perth on Friday but it was for a 2070 Super rather than a 2080Ti and they're being difficult about a refund at the moment.

      • +1

oh god, if that happens im going straight to paypal and getting my money back

they can send a courier to my house to pick it up, im not going to lift a finger if they screw me even more…

      • @jozdemir Did you end up getting yours yet? Wasn't a 2070S I hope….

        • It did actually, finally turned up just after 4pm. Luckily it was the right card! Works fine too and the box wasn't too banged up. All they did was put a bit of black wrap around it though, no padding etc.

My mate ended up processing the return through PayPal and told FTC when it was getting sent rather than getting them to agree. They sent a short response saying they would credit once they received the incorrectly supplied 2070.

  • lol what now…

    09 Dec
    12:46pm
In Transit Parcel at depot and ready for delivery in the next available cycle

    09 Dec
    07:21am
Out for Delivery Parcel onboard courier vehicle for delivery

    • Did you end up getting it?

      Packed well?

      • lol not today

        Hopefully tomorrow…

        • Did you ever receive the parcel?

I have the exact same situation, but its been about a week now since then

  • These yahoos should be banned from selling on Ebay with this many issues

    • only a few more people report them to ebay and they'll lose their seller account

      • But how will it affect my current order? Do they get banned after all orders have been processed?

      • I just don't want to get them banned before I receive my order, only to then find out I'm further knee deep in shit… sigh

        • +1

At the worst if the store gets banned you will receive a refund.

  • Just more of their BS. Said that it was sent Friday at 5:45 now saying that most was sent Friday and the rest to be shipped today.

New message from: ftc_computers (3,640Red Star)
hi, there were some problems with tracking update, allow 12 hours more for tracking to be updated, support has already be notified of tracking issues, also 1000s of orders were picked up on friday 6pm, 100s of remaining orders will be out by today, sorry for the delay, expect delivery 2 to 3 days from today, thanks

My tracking still says it is awaiting pick up

    ftc_computers:
    Hi, mate

It was collected yesterday by couriersplease at 5:44pm.

It might due to system update delay that the tracking is not showing up.

Thank you very much for your patience.

    • Got the same reply, but parcel has now been picked up by sendl!

      • Mine still says pick up scheduled. Sigh

        • Same here. Got the same reply but tracking still says pick up scheduled

  • Mine just popped as on board for delivery

    • Congrats :)

      • +1

Hasn't actually arrived yet. And I will still be interested to see if it is AU stock and it comes with an invoice

        • Hey mate, I'm in the same boat. mine is being delivered today. I'm really hoping its Aussie stock, comes with an invoice, is packed well, and most of all i hope i get what i ordered (jozdemir above was saying he knows some one who was sent a 2070S instead).

Any idea how we can confirm it is Aussie stock and not a grey import?

          • @DanielP2: No packing, just a basic black wrap and there was a paper invoice in there. Happy to check whatever might help to see if it's Aussie stock

          • @DanielP2: Not sure yet how to check if it is Aussie stock yet. Maybe run the UPC code on it or even just check the model no. sometimes different regions change the last digit.

            • @curtturtle: Best way would be to call the manufacturer's tech support and they can check the serial number.

It looks like FTC are dropshipping some orders so its unlikely they're listed as an authorised reseller. But if you want to go a step further, the manufacturer might tell you which distributor its come from and you can check if the distributor is authorised in Australia too.

Just adding my experience with FTC.

I purchased a GPU on 30th of November, estimated delivery was 5th of December. I knew since this was a busy period with the black friday sales that i'd have to wait longer than the advertised arrival time.

The package courier they used was sendle, on the sendle website they listed the pickup date as the 5th of December. On the 9th of December i got an update from sendle that "It looks like this parcel was not picked up on the scheduled date. We are sending a dedicated pickup driver to collect the parcel at no extra cost." Fair enough i suppose but now i received an update today stating "Parcel transferred to a third party to complete delivery" and that since its with a third party it may not receive any further tracking updates.

Overall my experience with sendle and FTC hasnt been too pleasant but as long as everything arrives in one piece ill be happy enough.

I ordered the 3800x during Black Friday sale. Just called them to ask some technical questions. The first call, no one picked it up. Called again, it said "the number is no longer in service". Terrified now

    • That's all I have gotten all week. Send them a message through ebay and begin the waiting game

      • You may be better off asking a technical question on the OzB forum and getting better advice.

        • I thought it is better to check with them since I wasn't sure about the component model.

  • +1

    Finally got (one of) mine!

    https://imgur.com/16t4Jgs

Wrapped in black plastic. Box underneath appears to be fine.

The Gigabyte one I ordered is still missing. I've put int a complaint to ebay.

  • It finally came. no safe packaging. But I guess that is FTCs quality of service.

    • Which model did you order?

  • 2080ti

  • Finally got my 2080ti today. It was left on the driveway seeings it was marked as not needing a signature. Luckily it was still there when I got home. Absolutely no packaging to speak of and the box is pretty badly beaten up. Hopefully the card still works because i do not want to have to deal with them for warranty. I would never recommend buying from this joke of a company unless they sort out their service. U really do get what u pay for.

  • Would like to share my experience.
I too like a lot of people bought a GPU from FTC on Black Friday.
I also bought a CPU from Computer Alliance on Black Friday.

They both arrived today. So anyone who is reporting FTC "drop shipping" as the reason for the slow delivery time should also report Computer Alliance. I don't think that is what is happening. Probably slow delivery is due to mass amounts of orders during the Black Friday weekend.

The experience for Computer Alliance was 100% better than FTC though.
    - The estimated delivery date for CA was 5-12 Dec and 5-6 Dec for FTC (misleading delivery date)
    - Parcel Packaging for CA was package with some padding. FTC.. no padding. Thank goodness the GPU have a sturdy box.
    - Tax invoice for CA came in package. No tax invoice in FTC (!@#!!%)
    - I happened to be home so I collected them from the courier.

Overall - was the FTC GPU cheaper than competitors? Yeah..
Did it come in a reasonable time? I guess.. same as other competitors
Safely delivered? The GPU yes. The GPU box - not so much

So if cost is all that is important to you. You do get what you paid for.
Well.. except - I'm not sure how I will get my tax invoice for my gigabyte GPU to claim my SSD.

    Guess more patience is required.

    • The lack of communication and the constant it will be sent today. Contact them the next day and get told it would be sent today. Is the problem. CA may have sent yours earlier and it go held up by the courier. FTC didn't send ours for 10 days. So not couriers holding it up.

    • hey I asked for a tax invoice and they emailed me it straight away.
Still waiting for my delivery though LOL

  • +1

Anyone else still being jerked around? I ordered a GPU on the 29th. The new TNT Express tracking number shows nothing.

    • Oh mate ffs I am sorry to hear. I would be doing what others have done and open an ebay complaint on them. I found they got their asses into gear once I did that.

      • Is that the "My item hasn't arrived" option, or something else?

        • Yes. It will open a dispute. You can still select "I want my item" but it starts the process of getting ebay involved. I also went one step further and contacted ebay support and lodged and official complaint for their false delivery claims. They were quite helpful.
