A Warning about FTC Computers - Based on My Experience

I thought it may not be a bad idea for this forum post given how often FTC Computers deals are posted on this site. Admin feel free to delete not allowed.

I bought 2080 ti graphics card from FTC Computers ebay store based on the fact I see their deals posted here all the time. The listing said orders are sent via auspost 1 day after payment.

I am now 5 days after payment and 4 days since they marked my package as shipped. When I check the shipping it say scheduled for pick up tomorrow!

I went back to the deals and found that a whole heap of OzBargainers have experience this poor business.

I have tried to contact them, but like other users here, no luck.

I thought it was only fair to post a topic for people considering buying from this business, that their FoS with their delivery times. And they may want to factor it in.

Hopefully this post will pop when people search FTC Computers. Feel free to add your stories if you also feel for their BS.

    • Are you using the https://www.tntexpress.com.au/interaction/Trackntrace.aspx site?

I put in an ebay complaint about my first order going missing on the 9th and they managed to ship one out via Tnt on the 10th and it arrived in Sydney today on the 12th (which I promptly refused delivery lol).

      • Yep that's the one. Now it's showing up as out for delivery today, as of a few hours ago.

        Why did you refuse delivery?

  • It looks like majority of the negative feedback about FTC computers are just recently and have to do with delivery delays etc. Looks like FTC have been a business for quite some time now, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Note: I placed an order on black friday weekend and order haven't been picked up yet on sendle. Understand they probably have tons of PCs to built. I wish they were a bit more upfront about the delays though.. fingers cross my PC arrives soon in one piece.

    • There have been quite a few posts like this over the past couple of years on here. I hope your PC comes to.

    • Look into their reselling crypto mining GPUs misrepresented as brand new, and sockpuppeting here on OzB. They don’t deserve any benefit of the doubt because there isn’t any doubt anymore

  • I just got confirmation that the graphics card I got is AU stock

    • How did you get it? Contacting the manufacturer?

      • Yes. I contacted MSI over FB. They gave me an email to send my serial and invoice too. And they confirmed it.

  • So ive ordered a Monitor from them on the 30th and was given a Sendle tracking number 2 days later, with an expected delivery date of the 6-7th. When i never got a notification for click and collect i contact them over the weekend as the tracking info said parcel was not picked up. FTC continued to blame issues with Sendle over the next week.

I went to check tracking today and the removed the tracking number and removed the posted status from my ebay order. Ive just sent an email for a proper update and whether or not they have the item in stock and said if they do not come up with a solution i will get my money back via Paypal. I also linked them this post and for them to prove this post wrong

    Will see what happens

  • They now have more than 10% of their feedback as neutral or negative. eBay will punish them for that one. I wouldn't be surprised if their store it gone after the new year.

    • yes I have left neutral feedback for a GPU that took 9 days to arrive. I will be giving negative feedback for the RAM which I ordered 13 days ago and has only just shipped yesterday despite messaging me and telling me it was picked up on the 9th.

He apparently upgraded it to the RGB sort but I could not care less about that.

I also agree that majority of this feedback occurs during peak busy sales periods - would probably pay a couple dollars more and get consistent shipping experience next time… or ironically MSY pricing was a dollar more - not sure how I missed that.. :-/

Interestingly my other black friday purhcases were also using Sendle.

    • The negative feedback would probably be a lot higher if more people knew that sellers cannot leave anything other than positive feedback for buyers. People are scared that if they leave neutral or negative then they will get it in return (which is why ebay stopped sellers ability to give negative/neutral feedback a number of years ago).

I ordered a 16gb DDR4 Corsair Kit on the 30th of November. Delivery Expected 5th-6th of Dec. I did what everyone else appears to have done and give a day or two (or three) for the Black Friday swamp. It's now the 14th of December and I have no new tracking info other than the utter BS that it was 'posted' on the 30th of Nov. I started reading the negative comments only a day or two ago. I'm kicking myself, this isn't worth the $30 I saved..This is way too much of a headache, I am seriously doubting that I will even get the correct Ram Kit..ugh. I really felt bad for the guy who paid for a 2080ti and got a 2080 Super instead…oouch. But it appears that even he has gotten his actual card now. 2 weeks after 'POSTED' and nothing. I regret not opening a complaint with ebay sooner as it is now the weekend. My one and only experience with ebay stepping in got the seller off his arse quick smart so I am hoping I can fast track it considering how much time has elapsed after est delivery.

Is anyone else still waiting for stuff from Black Friday? feelsbad if it's just me >:(

It will be interesting to see what response I get (presuming I get one). This is beyond excuses at this point. Long time lurker but I think it's a sad day that I registered just to post in this thread.

    • Just start an eBay "item not received" complaint.

      • I already have, I said "I regret not opening a complaint with ebay sooner" since they say they won't step in until the 19th. I am yet to receive a response from ftc, but it is the weekend now..but I feel all I am giving them is time, heh..

  • Adding my experience here. Overall POSITIVE experience, although not the most polished or slick service.

I bought a MSI 2070 super trio from their ebay store about a week ago (about 8 December), along with other PC components from various other ebay stores. On the 11 December (about 3 days later) I get a text from "Com1 international" saying they were delivering the order that same day. A quick googling shows that Com1 international are a wholesaler.

So I assume FTC Computers got the wholesaler to directly deliver to me to cut out any shipping delays. I never formally got any "package sent" notification from ebay which is why I started this post by saying it wasn't the most slick customer experience.

But overall they were very prompt in delivering my product and because it was straight from the wholesaler even the box was pristine.

So they are capable then? Which just means that they've been either slack, dodgey and/or incompetent with everyone else's orders?

  • 16 Dec

    Return
Parcel returning to sender - delivery could not be completed

    ARE YOU F8*KING kidding me??

    • Noooooo!!! Call the courier and ask why?

      • Left out the house number or unit number?

  • Wish I saw this before I ordered my 3900X last week… FML

Just got my computer today. Ordered on 2nd Dec. I ordered the 3800x with 1660s Black Friday deal. The brand of GPU, power, RAM and hard drive wasn`t specified when I order.

    GPU - Galax
    power - Gigabyte G750H
    RAM - G Skill Ripjaws
    Hard drive - Lexar

So far, things work well. Cable management is OK, the front is clear but needs some work on the rear side, nothing serious though.

Will let you guys know if anything goes wrong.

The GPU I got with these guys has failed after about 20 days. I'll be sending it back through the Ebay return process and crossing my fingers I can get this sorted in a timely fashion.

    • mind sharing what gpu and brand is that?

      • The Gigabyte 2070 Super from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/498642. I should correct the record, it failed after 20 days since arriving, but only 6 days of use. The reason I had to wait two weeks to start using it was because of other new parts arriving slow from FTC.

        • in another thread, a Gigabyte 2070s got fried somehow, make me wonder is FTC up to something fishy (considering 20% off at the time) or Gigabyte card is being crappy?

        • How did it fail, was the card used/new?

        • I went looking for anyone else reporting quick failures on GPUs from FTC but couldn't find anything. There is a thread about them selling used cards as new though, which is disturbing.

The card comes in packaging that is easy to tamper with. The only tamper proof packaging is 'gigabyte' branded tape on the anti-static bag. However, unboxing videos show this is normal apparently. I also looked for signs of previous use but it appeared brand new.

My 2070 Super failed after working great in gaming for around 8 hours, and being used about 6 days. Weirdly, I saw no sign anything was wrong until failure. I walked away from the computer, leaving it on the desktop, when I came back the computer was off and wouldn't POST with GPU code errors. I have another computer to test with, and could nail the problem down to the GPU.

          • @tray: Which model 2070 super?
            - Windforce
            - Windforce 3X
            - Gaming OC
            - Gaming OC 3X

Was the anti static packaging new looking or heavily creased?

If it doesn't work in another computer, bad luck :(

        • GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER WindForce OC

          The anti-static bag looked new.

If I don't hear of similar failures I'll just put it down to bad luck on my part.

And if anyone knows how the ebay returns process works I would be eager to hear. I would like a replacement on the spot, failing that, a refund. I would prefer to avoid RMA since that could take months with FTC.

@tray: Best of luck getting a replacement from FTC in a timely manner.

    • I want to follow up on my experience for anyone reading about FTC Computers in the future.

The ebay plus return process with FTC went well, I got a money refund without any phone calls or communication with FTC/Ebay required. It was relatively quick. I was then able to get a 2070 Super from Umart and its been working well.

I'd like to add my experience in dealing with FTC computers to spare others the frustration - On Dec 9, I purchased a cpu from this store through Ebay. Several days passed and the item was still not marked as posted. I sent a query through Ebay and was told they had no stock and were waiting for a new delivery. On Dec 13, the item was marked as posted on Ebay, but when I checked the delivery status through Aust Post there was no scan events for the parcel. After repeated attempts at contacting them, today on 23 Dec (2 days before xmas!), they respond to say that they are unable to get new stock and have cancelled my order. These guys have ZERO respect for their customers and do whatever it takes to keep you hanging on (they will blatantly lie and tell you that the item has been posted). They do not deserve your business. Please be warned and spread the word on their appalling service!

  • They don't seem to care about getting their own items back either.

Ordered a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Gaming OC on the 26th. Got told repeatedly that it was on the way even though nothing changed on the Sendle tracker other than to say that it wasn't picked up as arranged. Eventually put in a request for an refund via ebay due to product not received which I heard nothing about for two days until they suddenly told me that they shipped a new one via TNT Express. Told them that I didn't want it anymore especially since I'd already acquired another 2070 Super (from them as well lol - luckily I did get this one) so they told me to refuse delivery which I did.

Now it's just sitting at TNT's depot according to the tracker for more than a week. ebay also initially refused to process my refund until they received their item back so I had to call up and complain.

    • Wow, you've got some balls ordering from them again after they did that to you the first time. I'm now prepared to pay 30% extra just to avoid them.

      • Was a simpler time when I had a bit more trust in them lol. Basically I bought the Gigabyte one and then the MSI fell to a similar price.

This thread is now the second link when you google "ftc computers"
Discussion is ongoing in this thread Anyone know what happened to FTC computer on eBay?

  • I ordered a desktop PC on Jan. 10th from their website, and I still don't have it.
So here I am almost 2 months later… nothing.

I have just emailed them, telling them to cancel my order and refund my money.
I hope they can, at least, do that.

    Not happy!

    • Christ that is a long time. Even stores that are up front about being slower on desktop builds are quicker than that. I would be on them daily for a refund.

    • FYI, FTC Computers has actually shut down and gone into receivership. So I doubt your computer will be getting shipped any time soon. If possible, I'd try and initiate a chargeback with your bank, or a PayPal dispute, depending on how you paid. Good luck!

  • Hey guys,
I bought a MSI gaming X 5700xt card from them last year via ebay and it has issues. What invoice I need to show to MSI as the shop is closed now?
    Is ebay order details valid?

    Thanks
    G

    • +1

You should be able to show MSI the ebay or paypal receipt.

      • Thanks. Will do. their support advised they dont support overseas stock and not sure how I can prove that. I know it is local, but with store closed not sure what else we could do.

        • I thought they still have a physical presence in Queensland.
Also, RMAs should be taken directly to the manufacturer instead of the retailer, ebay and paypal is valid.
They should've sent you an invoice by email when you made the purchase as well to prove it's local stock (Their address is on it)
          Reviving a dead thread xD

        • MSI can tell the stock location based on the serial. I got them to confirm my card was AU stock when I bought it by emailing MSI about it.
