    • Many of us know of it.

But most importantly, what do you recommend in place of this product?

  • should i get this or wait for the UE megaboom 3 to lower in price?

    • +4

This is you want sound quality. Megaboom if you want durability and toughness with pretty decent sound quality.

  • Gift box is showing out of stock for me, so price will be $143.96

    • +1

      No deal, silent protest

      • +1

        Noise cancelling engaged!

  • +4

I managed to get a Home Speaker 300 for $220 which is by far the lowest I’ve ever seen them. The 20% code seems to be 20% of the RRP even if the product is on sale.

    • -4

      That's what she says.

      • ?

@benjaminv: I get the phrase. I don’t get how anything I said was an innuendo.

            • -1

              @ldt: My bad and apology.
I just wondered how would the 20% discount was calculated based on "original" price instead of current listing. It however did work as you spotted.

    • That's what i'm looking at getting too it's a bargain :)

    • got it too - good call

  • +1

    Good price.
But tough to buy an electronic product released almost four years ago…

Mini III is on the way ?

    • +3

This is the 2019 version with USB-C charging.

But this doesn't come with the dock or the power brick.

      • Was about to pull the trigger because of the dock (panning to use with the PC), then read your comment about no dock.

Monitor has USB-C, I wonder if it can power the speaker and send audio. (It can power a laptop and receive video from laptop.)

Monitor does have audio out, to go to speaker AUX (monitor gets audio from PC through Display Port).

        • The USB-C port on this speaker is for charging only.

Audio has to be over Bluetooth or 3.5mm AUX input.

I use mine as a pc speaker over Bluetooth and seems to work well.

          • @fastnet: Thanks, that’s good to know. Do you charge the speaker 247? My concern is the battery’s longevity.

            • @browser: Battery life is quite good on this.

I don't use mine a whole lot and only charge around once a week.

          • @fastnet: must be some audio lag when watching videos? BT 4.2?

            • @Jackkkkkk: Actually haven't noticed any audio latency issues with video playback. Seems to be in-sync.

  • Can you use the Sound Link II as regular computer speaker? Thought it looks good under the monitor and save desk space, I expect the sound quality should be much better than cheap sound bars.

    • +1

No you cannot. it will be too good for daily computer beepings.

    • +1

Check out the Creative Katana if you're looking at soundbars… quality piece of kit!

    • Of course you can, connect by BT for sure. Probably has passthrough jack?

  • +7

Do I need this given the fact that my 5 year old Sony SRS-X5 portable BT speaker is still running as perfectly as it was on day 1?
    No, I don't need it.

But do I want this considering the price, size, sound quality and ultra-portability?
    Hellz yeah I do!

Bought and paid for - thanks op!!!

Once I get to Review (last step), the discount is getting reduced to $39.99. Anyone else experiencing it ? Wonder if it's because the gift box is not in stock anymore so it's somehow bumping up the price?

    • Was trying to pay using the credit card option before (not sure if that was causing the discount to reduce to $39.99). Paid via PayPal and got the right discount of $55.99. Thanks a lot, OP!

    • Worked ok for me just now

    • +1

The review page jumps back up, but processes as correct price.

  • Is this a must buy? I'm in the market for a speaker, no idea what's around :/

I wish I had an AMEX, god damm waiting 18 months inbetween!

    • The Soundlink Mini II is great. I've had one for two years and absolutely no regrets about the purchase.

I was thinking the other week the only thing it lacks is Google Assistant - and then I see this. Would recommend.

  • +1

How do you get the gift box? It's not showing up anywhere. Tried to search for it on the site too.

    • +3

      Second. Can’t find gift box

  • +1

Thanks. got myself the Bose Home Speaker 300

For some reason I had to use paypal for the discount to be off the RRP. tried using normal credit card and the discount was off the special price right before the final payment.

  • Great price. I would get this but already have an older Bose Soundlink Wireless Mobile Speaker version 1 which is awesome and still going strong.

    • Same. I will regret not buying this if my current one breaks down soon!

      • 🤣

        • Me three. Still going strong from a Myer deal years ago

  • Very tempting. This or home speaker 300…

  • +1

Home Speaker 300 for $219.96 is a better buy imo.

    • Ordered. Need to stop buying random things on sale.

    • I already ordered the soundlink ii, you made me think about the home 300.

I just bought Sonos One SL in pair for stereo from black Friday sale, but still the home 300 price is very tempting.

      • -1

Go for it! Life is too short.

        • Even shorter, if you have nothing left to buy life-prolonging items.

    • Was also about to get this but, it seems Home Speaker isn't rechargeable

    • Bought one of these! Been looking at Sonos 1, didn't know this speaker exists until now! Can't wait to test the sound quality!

  • Cheers OP! Didnt reaaally need one but at this price had to cop it :p

    • +1

Since when ozbargainers bought stuffs based on needs? 🤣

      • after the purchase?

  • Thank you OP.

  • Thank you OP, I've wanted a portable speaker for some time but I'm glad I have waited.

  • +1

While using Credit/Debit card as the payment option , the website shows 160 $$ as the price , but the actual amount deducted is 143.96$$.

    Cheers , bought one.

    fakes for $7 from cambodia

    • +1

      K..

    • Cool story bro

  • +1

Buy or not to buy. Got to save money

    • +2

Buy this to save, like, over a hundred

    • Convincing urself waiting for Mini III support Bluetooth 5.0

      • I don't think it's coming - wasn't the Mini superseded by the Revolve?

  • When these were off the shelves few months ago bose support center said that’s because it’s being discontinued 😖. Here we are with a brand new one lol. May be they meant micro usb version…

I later got mine from Costco. it’s totally worth it and at $150 its no brainer.

20% applies to other products too.

  • There's a saying that goes something like "it's only a saving if you were planning on buying one anyway."

It turns out I've just lost $143.

    edit: Thanks OP! ;)

  • +2

I bought this for no reason

  • +1

bought yesterday in a rush, thinking they'd go OOS.

Haven't received it yet, already regretting my purchase after watching reviews :-/

Apparently anker (eg. soundcore boost) have better audio and are cheaper.

    • Which reviews? Links please.

      • this is a review of the non-special edition, but afaik the special edition uses the same drivers:

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9CumhsfOFI

there's also one comparing the bose to the JBL Flip (4 or 5) - the JBL sounds overly sharp at louder volumes, and the bose sounds overly damped at similar volumes.

I have seen several reviews of the mini II that say they are no longer worth it in the face of current competition from 'lesser' brand names.

Anyway, I guess once I start using em I'll forget about the price. I'm no audiophile thankfully :)

        • There is an option to return it as part of 30-day bose policy

          • @alteclan: Thanks for this.

            From Bose site:

            The Bose "Excitement Guarantee"
In addition, if you purchased your BOSE product online from bose.com.au, direct from Bose over the phone or for products sold by bose.com.au purchased from official Bose Stores, you have the benefit of the BOSE 30 Day Excitement Guarantee. Lifestyle® Systems are not included under the BOSE 30 Day Excitement Guarantee.

        • Wait till you get it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

  • It said I would pay $142.97 yesterday via PayPal, however today I'm checking my paypal and it says:

    Purchase details
    1x SoundLink Mini Bluetooth® speaker II$199.95
    1x Bose Gift box$0.00
    Amount$199.95
    Voucher Discount-negative $56.98
    Total$159.95

    what the heck?

    ….

although my bank account which is linked to PayPal says the $142.97 …
    confusing

    • Weird. Me too.

    • Me four. Paypal says 159.99 taken. Chasing Paypal to see what they will do.

      • The 143 on my cc changed to 159 as well

        • Same! my CC has come off $142.97 pending, now says $159.95

And I've received a pdf invoice from Bose saying $159.95

Bose will have a battle on its hands if it doesn't rectify this

    • Now gone up to $159.98 argh

  • I already have 2 of these, mini 1 & 2, but bought just for the price alone, some lucky friend will get this as a gift later..

  • damn Soundbar 500/700 not on sale!

    • If your employer has access to bose employer portal, you can get 500 for about 600 aud or bose 700 soundbar for 800 aud.

  • Any idea how to track orders with Bose.com.au? I placed an order for it yesterday, so far I have nothing to show for it.

  • So turns out this speaker is Bluetooth version 3.0!

Info from the Bose community forum

  • +1

Today I have been charged $159.95 in my Amex Account despite Paypal has a record of $143.96.

I did read when about to finalize payment with Paypal there is a small print saying the amount above may be different to what is charged.

Personally, this is quite wrong as people can be charged a number that could wildly different than what was agreed.

I will chase it with Paypal and update this forum.

    • Yep, same, invoice for lower price and was pending at that price, now 160.

    • Waiting for your update mate.

      I also reported to Paypal.

    • As of 18:00, there is only a notation in Paypal saying they will come back to me by 20/12/2019.

Clearly this is an error, notwithstanding there is a small print saying the amount charged may be different than submitted, but need to consider options if Paypal decides to wash its hands. A chargeback comes into mind since many of you guys have already spoken to Bose directly. But I will wait for probably a few more days and see how it pans out.

    • I have been on the phone with BOSE. They said it is final that they will not be refunding the difference.

So I said I will instigate a Chargeback which is allowable under unauthorised charge category and they will get zero.

I think they are standing firm in hope people will return the goods but I wont entertain that strategy.

  • When I placed the order it was charged for $143.96, and now that invoice has been issued it is for $159.95. This is sneaky on Bose's part.

  • +1

Thanks. Great deal. I added HOLIDAY15 and paid $101 total

    • How do you use 2 voucher codes??

      • +2

Use < honey> voucher finder with firefox and she searches and adds what she finds. Final bill shows both coupons and amounts. Plus the PP discount. $101 final. just checked my account, all good.

        • Thanks! Just used this on Chrome and got 2 for $203

          • @L45er: Just to show how this works noting order hasn't been charged yet but Paypal and Bose emails show discounted price with both coupons

            https://imgur.com/a/p9nN4BT

    • Wow! feel like I got robbed at 143.96. I just got the soundlink delivered from original order. Not sure if I should order again your trick and return the first one.
