  • Hi Guys

I bought this deal thanks to the original post and was charged initially $143.96 by my papal account however it changed in a day to $159.95. This is quite shocking as it just shows the merchant can change the original authorized pricing by themselves without approval from the original cardholder. Anyways I have raised this issue with my Bank (Commonwealth Bank) and they have assured me they will dispute this transaction and fight for me to make sure I'm not charged more than the original amount which I authorized while paying. I just wanted to advise anyone who has gone through with a similar situation to report to their respected banks asap as Paypal won't do anything but your bank can dispute it and fight for you.

    Thanks

    • I am waiting for their reply by 20th. I expect nothing much coming out of it but I have served it at least.

Then I will instigate full chargeback.

  • +1

Got charged $159.95 also, which appears to be 20% discount from $199.95.

They stuffed up, allowing 20% calculated from the full price $279.95 then deducted from the sale price $199.95.

Usually reputable companies would just cop it when it is their error, especially for such a small amount.

Anyway, what is the best course of action?

    • Lodge a dispute with PayPal?
    • Lodge a dispute with Credit Card (even though paid through PayPal)?
    • Leave the speaker charged and run it 247 near a window under direct sunlight, initiate return after 25 days?
    • To me lodged PayPal dispute before credit card. PayPal hates it when you lodged credit card that was used by PayPal. Given now that Bose is honouring the $101 deal you might want to try contacting them. If they don’t do anything then lodge a dispute with PayPal.

      • Yea, I have just emailed, phone would be a waste of time.

  • So what was the free gift?

    • I thought it's just a gift box, literally? i.e. a fancier looking box.

  • It seems the good luck is on 102 deal. Any update on this deal?

    • It looks like the $102 deal, if it wasn’t invoiced yet they have now invoice as per original order confirmation and sending out the items. If they have been invoiced and charged more they will process refund in 2-4 weeks. If you haven’t contacted them, you can try now and they may give the refund now. Common sense $16-17 refund compared to $60-70 refund. If management don’t agree, then they are really hopeless. I already have a PayPal dispute open so I’ll have to let it run it’s course but I have tried twice speaking to them before they decided to honour the $101 deal without any results.

  • This morning I've received an invoice saying I've paid for the speaker, but the pending transaction has disappeared off my credit card.
    I'm very confused.

  • Looking at the $101 deal and Bose seem to be honouring it. Wondering if it's worth giving them a call to see if they'll lower the price for those of us who paid $143?

    • You can try but long wait to speak to a CS. But I doubt it as CS just goes off script and will just be honouring orders placed. Maybe just shoot them an email and see whether they get back to you.

  • I got invoiced but not charged?

On calls to Bose, been holding for an hour.

    • So did I, and received my speaker this morning. Assuming for free as the transaction has disappeared from my card.

  • Bose elected to refund the difference from $159 to $143 directly to my bank account (5-10 working days). Odd. Only took me 2 hours on hold.

    • really? not price match to 102?

  • I guess the $143 deal was possibly a PayPal error, that's why PayPal fixed it swiftly and quietly with zero communication.

$102 deal was their website error, that's why they honoured it without a fight.

    • $143 wasn’t a paypal error as it also happened to CC purchases. Both were website error as the discount code was being applied at the RRP price. They didn’t have to honour the $102 as per normal order you can only put one code, but due to some tricks you could enter more than one. Plus they could just cancel all the orders as they weren’t invoice or shipped yet as compared to the $143. Good on them to honour the $102, but they still have not done right to the $143 orders. Hopefully they will start making it right for the $143 orders without the people having to chase them up.

      • Nope. I tried and they said they are not going to adjust. I suggest more people calling and asking them.

        • After they decided to honour the $102 or before?. As if before they were saying no as they did to me so mine with PayPal dispute.

          • @j1568: They are willing to adjust to $143, but not to $102. I guess it is fair to say if they are honouring $102 means they are accepting stacking of 2 codes. This means we who bought it for $143 should be offered the same.

            • @ebbzuv: Oh ok I thought you meant that they not doing anything for the $143 and still trying to charge them $159. I guess they are just honouring based on what you order but given they unauthorised charged more to the $143, they should be doing something more as right now I think for most people if you don’t chase them up they are just leaving it at $159. Pretty poor service by Bose.

          • @j1568: I've got the firm $159.95 response after they have honoured the $102 deal, what gives?

In their response, they even said that they are well aware of the incorrect price and their ecommerce team will be fixing it, and $159.95 is the correct price after taking 20% off from $199.95.

This is total BS, they are basically saying that their website has issues, displayed incorrect price that people has paid. After discovering of the issue, instead of communicating with the customers, they went ahead to charge more and shipped it out anyway, than refuses to cop it or fix it. Meanwhile there was a coupon stacking error causing more money lost but they are okay with that?

            • @browser: That’s really poor form for Bose given after they honouring the $102. The $143 is the same error as the $102 as both were applying codes to the RRP price except the $102 was stacking two codes. I guess the number of people who ordered the $102 far exceed the $143, so probably more priority for their management to resolve.

Reading from peoples posts they are one very disorganised company giving different responses to people. I most likely will never order from them again. I wonder whether we can bring this to ACCC for the changes in charges.

              • @j1568: Is it ACCC or Fair Trading? Will lodge a complaint if they think they can just sweep it under the rug.

                • @browser: Not sure as each state looks like has its own fair trading to report to while ACCC is just one.

                  • @j1568: They have agreed to refund (bank transfer) the difference $15.99 but refused to match the $101 deal, I guess that’s fair enough :D

  • Ordered Sunday 8th, paid with CC, charge of $142.97 still pending, only email communication was order confirmation when order placed. Beginning to wonder if I'll receive one at all…

    • Same i brought this and the buds. went on online chat and recieved a invoice for the buds yesterday still noi word on speaker but was told to expect a tracking number number. when i bought them it said delivery in 4 days grrr.

    • I am on the same boat as you. I've contacted them twice already on Tuesday and Thursday evening respectively, however, both of the times they assured me that everything is right with my order and to wait fro at least 5 business working days which was till Friday.

All I have is an order confirmation email. Will call them again tomorrow now.

It is so bizarre that they have honored and even shipped all the orders with the $101 double-coupon stacking error, while they are just trying to find a way out with this deal.

  • As of 16/12/2019, my card remains charged at $159.95 however the AMEX rebate has turned up.

  • Is there anyone else who got his speaker delivered recently from this deal?

I called Bose yesterday, and they told me that everything was fine with the order and they will provide the tracking number soon.

    • I got mine straight away within a few days - BUT overcharged $159 so waiting on Paypal dispute result

  • Payment has dissapaired and funds have been returned.. seems the $101 crew took priority over my $143 price and I got bumped…

    • Update: bit the bullet and rang. Waited 30 min. Order is still coming and should be here by the 19th. Apparently at their end the payment is still "pending" dispite nothing at my end and the money has returned to my CC. We'll see how this plays out

      • It seems to me that those who paid using credit cards are the ones who haven't received their orders yet.

Did they provide you with any tracking number ?

        • Nope

          • @tofanator: Further update: received email invoice last night, text from Startrack notifying of delivery today and in fact as I was typing this it rocked up on my door step!
Pretty quick considering I rang at 4pm yesterday.

            Still haven't paid either 🤔🤔

            • @tofanator: 2020 goals for Bose employees, chasing up missing payments for their stuffed up. Don’t think Bose will let go as seems many people charges have disappeared. But good for the people who may get it free if they did.

              • @j1568: With the amount of time I've wasted on the phone with this, they should be paying me!

I don't very much they've processed my order.

            • @tofanator: Same for me as well, just got an email and Sms from STARTRACK saying my order is onboard for delivery today.

And the payment has disappeared from my bank account as well.

But I am not too sure if the same amount has been credited back or not.

It's like the record of payment just vanished after I got the delivery notification.

  • UPDATE!!!

I received an email that Paypal has refunded me $15.99. I am yet to check this credit reflected in my AMEX but at least I got this in writing from Paypal.

    • Did you put a paypal dispute or just reach out to Bose?

    • Me too, received same email from PayPal, I've raised a dispute.

    • Same here just got email for my dispute and will get refund.

      • +1 got the refund

      • Got my refund through PayPal dispute too. No comms at all from Bose.

PR opportunity missed there. Feels a bit like a thief taking something from your house and the police recovering it for you, doesn't it? Haha.

        • +1

meh PR is wasted on the cheapskates here. Ozbers only care about $$. We'll all be jumping on the next Bose deal if/when it happens.

  • I talked to Bose if they would like to price match the speaker 143 to 102.
They would like to honor the price 143 but deinied to price match 102.
I made the order in both deal.
I have return the speaker 143 and I will receive the speaker 102 soon.
Hope it did help some people in this deal.
