5 dollars cheaper than what i got the imported stuff at Costco. I recon the imported beers are much better than the ones made here in oz.

Don’t think Hoegaarden is brewed domestically under licence, they wouldn’t know where to start (as with Stella et al). Distribution most likely, if not horribly out of date then still a good deal.

I try to only buy independent though, unless it’s an epic bargain.

      • +1

        +1 for independents

      • +2

I also buy independent/craft brews but what has come to my attention is that once the beer becomes popular and the brewery can't keep up with the quantity demands, they cut down the fermentation period of the beer with additives even add alcohol to the beer… Leaving us consumers with a crap product which we once enjoyed. I really enjoyed Fat Yak some 5-6 years ago, untill they completely destroyed it, same thing happening with Furphy and also unfortunately Stone&Wood taking the same direction.

        • Furphy and Fat Yak were never independent, though. They’re owned by corporations interested in making money, not beer. There’s a reason all Carlton beers taste the same - poor quality ingredients designed to minimise input costs.

When drinking truly independent beer, from breweries like Capital, BentSpoke, Modus Operandi, Akasha, Wayward and others, I’ve never experienced the dip in quality due to the shortcuts you’re talking about.

Ultimately, corporations buy up independent breweries who are sick of struggling to make money. It’s sad but I understand the desire to sell out. It happened recently with Pirate Life and 4 Pines. Not sure if Stone and Wood have been bought out too, but that would explain a dip in quality.

Buy truly independent beer and you’ll get the best quality and support people who care about what they’re making, not about making it for the lowest possible price and then spending the money on marketing to make them look independent.

@Meconium: Stone & Wood is still independent, but Balter sold out to CUB and Green Beacon to Asahi very recently.

  • thanks. decent prices.
we'll see use by date when it arrives lol

  • thanks OP, good price

60 now - coupon not working sad.

    • It worked for me just now

      • Is it me or? Entered the code PEACHY20 and it says "This code can't be applied to your order."

        • Try again. Code doesn't expire till 15/12

          • @denzel: tried couple of times to no avail, grrr.

@Zachguan: Your account is registered to another country?perhaps from a previous gift card deal from eBay UK?

              • @gooddealmate: Yes it was registered to UK - Initially I thought this was the culprit and hence updated the country to AU, no luck.

                • @Zachguan: You'll need to call them then, sometimes changing it yourself doesn't seem to work for reason.

I don't know why the downvotes for op. I picked up a case of leffe for $60, retails for $93 from Dan Murphy. Seems a good deal !

    • What downvotes?

      • Leffe Blonde wasn't available yesterday but it has come up again with this deal today (11/12/19) so I grabbed a couple of cartons and messaged them asking if they would match the $64 price per carton for Leffe Brune. My husband drinks Hoe's and Leffe and this deal is cheaper than anything I can buy it for in Perth, plus I don't have to leave the house in 40 degree+ heat to earn best wife status.

  • it worked for me….i copied the code from above rather than typing it ..maybe try that if its failing

    • +1

Not working for me, both typed and copied

  • Not worth the effort or risk

    • +1

What's this effort you speak of…. typing (like you just did then)? or drinking said beer?

  • Hoegarden does not age well and it is owned by corporate giant InBev…

    • +3

Its Christmas mate, all the beers are to be drank

Instead of these maybe head to first choice and get cricketers arms for $40 a slab or $10 off for $100 spent. Love the session ale can

    As a Belgian, I couldn't resist.
Good deal, good price for Australia.
Put a glass in the freezer during the day, pour the beer at night in the frozen glass and add a slice of lemon in it.
    Sit back and relax

    Thanks op

    • Skal mijn vriende hic.

    • Is a beer any good if it needs a lemon and a cold serving temperature?
Good beers don't need additions, and colder temperatures mute human taste buds.

From, a Belgian ale and spice fan.

      • You are comparing what shouldn't be compared.

We are talking about hoergaarden here, to put it back in the context, the beer is about 1.50 AUD per LITER back in Belgium. Wich make one of the most basic blond beer in the country. That's what you drink after working in the garden or while working on a Sunday afternoon.
This is the type of beer you will find in any basement.

Nothing wrong about adding a slice of lemon to any lambda white beer. Or to get it fresh as you would do with any soft drink or even water :)

A beer doesn't have to be fancy to be appreciated in belgium.
It Make sense that you see things differently when you pay 50$ for a pack here.

I would rather have a good duvel without lemon, but it would cost me 4x this price in here unfortunately.

        • Touche. Didn't realise they were dirt cheap in their local market.

      • It's also good to note that I don't usually buy beers australia, when I do it's Belgian or german.

This is so overpriced here, nothing can explain the price of beers in australia as it's pretty inexpensive to brew even more that you are growing more hop than we do so it should be even cheaper.

Just by seeing that beers from the other side of the world are the same price / cheaper than the local mass produced beers.. it doesn't make much sense.

  • IF THE CODE DOESNT WORK, CHANGE YOUR RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS BACK TO AUSTRALIA

  • Thanks OP

  • OP @SACCROMYCES what is the use by date?

    • I'm not sure the exact. But my contact said its fresh off the boat import. So based on that there would likely be 6-8 months before code
