is it worth it to get the Yamaha YAS-209 2.1 Channel Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer for 310?

    • I'd be more inclined to get the 109B and add a separate powered subwoofer if you're after a better sounding system.

  • How does it compare with YAS-108B?

  • Just as my Sony soundbar gave up on itself after 7 years, purchased thanks!

  • Scored two good deal

  • Anybody here have any idea how this works stack up against a pair of bookshelf speakers? Roland Cakewalk MA-15Ds is what I'm using atm.

    • How do you find those MA-15Ds? i was looking at getting a pair off gumtree.
Have you tried listening to music, watching movies, playing games?

      • I don't really have a point of reference, but I reckon they're pretty good. They're hooked up to my HTPC - I think they're great for music and ok for shows. Keep wondering if I'm missing out not having a centre speaker

        • Have you got them pointed towards your head or pointing straight out from the wall?
My experience from smaller stereo speakers that seemed to make a noticeable difference in terms of making the audio sound more focused in the middle.

          • @lordezekiel: It's a fairly big loungeroom, so they're pointing straight. Lounge is about 3.5-4m away from the TV.

I tend to sit in front of the right channel, missus tends to sit in front of the left.

            • @OZBMate8911: Ah, yes that certainly is not the ideal setup/use for those i imagine, in that case something with a centre speaker would certainly help a lot.

Anyone have that tv? It seems like sub $500 for a Hisense 4K HDR TV is really good deal and normally hisense are popular here on ozbargain but no one's mentioned it at all so i'm confused, is it like their trash model that no one buys or something?

    • No-one mentioned it because it was combined with this post, so no comments. Had 28 upvotes when combined.

Wonder why they didn't just merge the comments from that thread into here. Cos they can do that normally…

I got it for $438.40 a couple of weeks ago

It's their base model of the 2019 series. Has HDR10 + HLG, no Dolby Vision and no game mode or smooth motion like the higher models. But it's pretty good.

      • Wow i missed that deal! I'm right on the edge of buying at this current price but then the ozbargainer within me says thats not much of a discount, i should wait lol

        • Yeah I was going to post it but after I picked up the TV, the pulled down the listing and created a new one with a higher price. They don't answer eBay messages and they still haven't sent me the invoice either!

  • I'm going to use this tv to watch HDR content but I'm going to use this to play on the switch as well. Anyone know if it'lll look really weird? blurry?

    Thanks you guys!

I'll be picking one up later today, will try to remember to post some feedback on here, never owned a hdr tv before so really interested to see what it's like!
Switch should look just fine, i run my wii u on an extremely budget 55" 4k tv and it looks real good still.

Make sure you get it from JB with discounted gift cards. Pity it wasn't listed last night @ $495 with the Wicked Wednesday 5% off too.

  • Is it worth to replace Logitech Z5500 (3.1 or 1.1 setup: centre speaker and subwoofer) with this Yamaha soundbar?

    • +1

There is no way that soundbar would replace the near legendary Z5500, that's still a great set of speakers.
