The dimmer switches are cheap too - $30

    • +5

Says on camelcamel they were 19 recently, and often cheaper than 30 - which is now the peak price.

May as well go down this rabbit hole after getting that starter kit for 28 bucks…

  • What is it used for apart from mounting it at the back of TV?

    • +8

putting it behind your computer monitors to increase your fps

      • +2

        All DA ARR GEE BEE!

      • +9

        Fps = faps per second?

    • You're not serious, if I get the 2-pack will it go twice as fast?

      • +8

Not twice as fast, but will definitely let you download more ram

      • +1

Crossfire and sli is dead so will depend on the game

  • Thanks got the 2 pack kit for $122

    • 2 months delivery.

    • +2

You may as well cancel that order as its on back order and won't ship for a while.

Go with a single Hue Play and a single Hue Play Extension as its only $123 for both (60c extra)

  • Price beat at Bunnings for 10% off

    • Amazon has 12% cash back at the moment.

    • +1

Thanks going to Bunnings today, so will check it out

    • Just spoke to someone at Bunnings and they said they will not price match online stores

      • +10

That’s BS. Show them this page and ask them to get a new job.

        https://www.bunnings.com.au/price-policy

        • +1

Rang again and spoke to a different person and they said they would price match, said that he would check the price and put it on the notes.
Went in just now to pay for it and he only bothered to price check it at 10:16 after the Amazon deal had ended, instead of at 9:15 when I rang them. Would not price match the $120.40 price, what a waste of my time.

      • I got them to match amazon they do it all the time

  • Thanks OP
added to my $28 starter kit. Hopefully it’ll be useful:)

  • What's the link for this $28 starter kit?

    • +3

Search ozb for the starter kit

That was a JB Hifi special

    • +2

It was a few days ago. A basic starter kit 2 globes and a hub rrp $144 for $28 at JB. Sold out within a couple of hours

  • tempting though since I replaced my hue bridge with a conbee not sure what functions would work. Also tossing up whether to just build one with $10 worth of parts and ESPHome.

Anyone know… What’s the colour driven by, equaliser?

  • This needs the bridge to operate right? Damn missed out that JB Deal :(

    • +2

It does, but amazon often has that same JB deal with the bridge for close to that price.

  • This doesn’t work on tv by itself right? I googled and apparently you need to install some app on pc/mac in order for it to work :(

    • It's works by itself if you just set the lights' brightness and colour. But if you want it to sync with what is on the TV in real-time, it has to be running a HTPC as it relies on a PC/Mac Hue app.

      • It needs the HDMI sync box. They were showing at PAX, was pretty cool but the cost is massive. You can create your own one with an Pi though.

        • I'm intrigued mate. Can you please provide a link depicting how it can be made to work with a Raspberri?

      • when you mean PC/MAC hue app, you mean on a desktop ?
can't we just download on our app on mobile? ios etc?

    • Philips have just brought out a sync box that is stand alone with HDMI inputs. Currently available in USA and will be released in Aus shortly.

    • i know right, so its a good deal but then you need to buy something more just to make it work better

so if i buy this then we need to set the lights brightness and colour but to make it more enhanced you need
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/504133

but damm missed out, especially $28 with the hub bridge that you need.

  • So this doesn't require a hub like all the other Hue stuff?

  • +1

aldi have their version available for only $18. works with Google home and Alexa. works amazingly well. only difference really is that it's a 2m LED strip with adhesive….which I prefer anyway.

while this is cheap….not really worth it when you have to get 2

    • +1

      Link?

    • Isn't ALDI's light strip 39$?

      • +1

I don't have a link, but I took a photo of the box and my receipt. https://ibb.co/yfwP44Q

        • When was this might go see if my local has any. I don't want to pay for the Phillips one just to play with an RGB strip

          • +1

@pin4e: @pin4e: Last night mate. I'm going today to get another two as I was a bit sceptical of how good they would be. However I am extremely impressed have a look at the following link (that's only half brightness). https://ibb.co/9vZTmWR

            • @Kritik: Thanks grab two from my local store!

        • Hey! I got the same one. flashed it with Tasmota and now it works nicely with my HA setup.

    • I don't have the link, but I took a photo of the box and my receipt. https://ibb.co/yfwP44Q

    • Sorry for the noob question, but does it also work with Hue Bridge? I got a bridge but don't want to necessarily pay the philips price tag of hue play.

      • It doesn't need any additional items. The aldi one runs independent of anything else. Sync it with your Google home and you can control all devices from there, regardless of brand

      • No it’s uses it’s own app and won’t work with Siri voice but works with google and Alexa

    • Yes i got that one the other day, pretty happy with the brightness and colours compared to my Hue LED strip.

  • No longer provides the discount once you add to cart. :(

    • yeah same for me

    • ditto

  • I have a hue bridge, and intend to buy two of these.
Can I get away with buying a base unit and an addon?

    Addon is $56.10

    • Yes you can. I had bought the 2 pack and addon. The the base unit should have an adapter to allow 3 of these connected in total.

      • Thanks buds

  • Yeah, listing at discount but jumps to full price when added to cart.

  • Shows full price for me.
    Bummer.

  • Damn, this went quick.

  • Don't stress folks, it'll be back at that price on boxing day :)

    • 12% shopback cashback and combine with the 2 for $120 + maccas vouhcer. Missed my chance to get 2 for less than $100 :(

  • +4

Mulled over this for most of the morning. I'm OK with this deal passing by

    • +1

Same… was trying to convince my ozbargain inner voice that I didn’t need this. sometimes it’s better when ozbargainers make the decision for you.

      • +1

Lol! 100% yes. I need to leave this place for a while.

      • +3

With the money saved, I could buy the missus a couple bunches of flowers which should buy me more leeway for more ozbargaining in 2020 :)

      • I don't need this either. But I want it.

        • Doesn't matter, it's expired
