Couldn't agree more. Wife borrowed a Medela swing and had nothing but problems with it. She ended up getting a Spectra S2 and it's alot better.
Another +1 for Spectra. Get them when they're on sale, and also stock up on some extra parts (or just get the set) so you're covered when you need to wash them/etc. Wife has both the S2 and S9.
Yeah I'd be looking at spectra. My Medela is not that great, I have the swing maxi.
If you can get away with it, no pump is even better.
Edit: also I don't know if anyone has ever paid RRP they are constantly on sale at baby bunting/chemist warehouse.
We have a Mendela, and also one of the $20 Chinese ones. Honestly, the $20 was good enough, it was a bit of a waste of money to buy the $18 replacement tubing for the Mendela…
Medela support was also pretty bad

I found the support from Medela great. I have the freestyle and my pump heads started to lose suction. They express posted me some new ones to trial and they’re great!
I had a secondhand spectre before that and it always randomly turned off. My partner said it was probably water damaged though.
hijack/fwiw - wife has a medela freestyle. hated it. picked up a spectra s1 and "feels heaps better and i can express a lot more". spectra aus have a 20% sale currently, the spectra s9 (their equivalent of the medela freestyle) is down to $199. highly recommended
