    Honestly I think you should try Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is currently $1 for 3 months for new subscribers, and then you can get 3 + 3 months from JB Hi Fi for $47.95 with one user reporting that they can get an extra 1 month by committing (then promptly cancelling) a subscription with credit card.

    At the time of writing this comment, there are nearly 400 games available on Game Pass. It's genuinely incredible value. I've played a handful of new release games in the past couple of months that would have cost me potentially hundreds for games that I won't play for very long.

    If you're confused about the different subscriptions from Microsoft, here's a quick low down:

    • Xbox Live Gold - required to play Online for Xbox consoles
    • Xbox Game Pass - Game library subscription for Xbox consoles
    • Xbox Game Pass for PC - Game library subscription for Windows PCs
    • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - combination of the above 3

    Here's a list of family friendly games, hopefully you'll find suitable for your 9 year old.

  Try Facebook marketplace, gumtree, people sell pre owned for around $5 a game, jb ,amazon, HN sometimes have $5 games, don’t have an xbox so others may know better
