Yeah, every single other dominos voucher ever released

    • +2

Can't be bothered testing it, but when I use vouchers for meat pizzas I just switch out the meat for the plant based option. It shouldn't cost you any more to do the same in reverse.

      • No changes at all for this code.

    • No need to make your body a graveyard for this one time.

Try it. You may like it.

    • +1

      Don't trigger the SJW's

      • Some people can't take a small joke I guess..

      • The new wave of plant based diets are more about looking after your body than worrying about the welfare of animals, although it is a welcome coincidence.

Works at St Kilda West store (VIC) too! :) Thanks OP

So I've gone off processed meat and try to avoid red meat as of this year, and let me tell you pizza menus are (profanity) hard enough to enjoy without avoiding chicken, seafood and egg too. Good luck, my vegan friends.

    • +2

Tomato rice, fried potatoes, fried eggplant and fried tofu was the only solution I found really.

Veggie roast is nice if you can do it without burning it lol.

There are some great vegetarian Thai curries out there but you may need some sort of milk so not sure if vegan friendly.

      • +6

Coconut milk goes perfectly with curry, in fact I think it's generally what is used! should be very easy to make a Thai curry vegan :)

    • But then you realise margarita pizza is the one true pizza.

    All good in SA.

Not really. The heat is unbearable

  • +2

Anyone tried the pizzas? Are they any good?

Kinda weird how all this plant based meat has suddenly appeared, what was the technological breakthrough? Or is it the same stuff 'not dogs' was always made from and this is just a marketing thing?

    • +16

      Lotsa reasons. Two include:

      • Someone realised that flesh tastes the way it does because it contains blood which contains iron. So they put iron into plant foods and realised it more mimics flesh.

      • "The market" realised that people care for themselves even if they don't care for other sentient beings, and one of the best (and certainly the easiest) paths to self-preservation is to ditch animal ag. As it stands the market sets the standard.

Can't wait to see how it pans out in the next 50 20 years.

      • +1

I think you're seriously mistaken if you think you need to put iron in plants to get iron..

        • +2

I think they meant heme iron, which isn't really applicable to the majority of plant based meats yet, only a select few brands.

Also meant adding it to plant foods (ie processed food) not plants themselves.

        • +6

          Disagree, it's got electrolytes.
          It's what plants crave.

        • +2

I think you're seriously mistaken if you think you need to put iron in plants to get iron..

Of course not - plants can provide plenty of iron. But you need oxides of iron to make it taste "rusty" like blood does - that is part of the fleshy taste that some (apparently many) people miss in plant meats.

      • people care for themselves

Eating proceed plant based food is not caring for yourself.

        • +8

Not only is a plant based diet adequate to care for yourself (which was actually not my intended message in the comment - hence why I said "animal ag," not "animal products") it is the best way to preserve human life as we know it by helping to mitigate our damages to the natural environment.

If you want to kill yourself with vegan peperoni on vegan cheese - that's your call. I'd hazard a guess it's probably still much harder than with peperoni made from pigs' flesh and cheese made from bovine lactations.

        • Do you know what the word "processed" means? In my experience, most people moaning about processed vegan food don't.

Not to mention, the incessant "living off vegan junk food isn't good for you" rubbish constantly spouted by idiots (not you - people in general!) is rather nonsensical given its not a position I've EVER seen a vegan hold.

Ditto on normal fast food posts where people feel the need to enlighten us about how Big Mac's aren't a health food. Really? You don't say…

    • -7

Just the same stuff. Except that its probably as bad, if not worse for you then the traditional cured meats they use. Excellent marketing, like calling something natural to make people think it's healthy.

      https://www.google.com/amp/amp.abc.net.au/article/11498310

      • +3

The study did not compare meat-free alternatives with their meat counterparts, such as meat-free bacon with actual rashers.

I don't know how you came up with the conclusion that plant-based meat products are worse than real meat, did you even read the article? It just says some products contain high sodium, which cured meats also have. Meanwhile it's been well-documented that eating red meat is linked to higher risk of cancers and heart disease, they even cite this fact in the same article you linked and conclude that plant-based diet overall is a good thing.

        https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-01-27/your-healthy-diet-in-…

        • -1

Hmmmm ok looks like red meat has the same as too much sodium being higher risk of cancers and heart disease .
I guess you didn't notice the sodium in these pizzas for your trying to escape those thing ?

          • +2

@profar: They never said they were trying to escape sodium.

        • -2

it's been well-documented that eating red meat is linked to higher risk of cancers and heart disease

No, it hasn't. The studies used to make that claim were complete garbage and didn't prove anything. https://youtu.be/Up__RB_rgRM?t=9

          • +2

@elli0t: Meat is absolutely linked to poor health outcomes. Just not causal. It’s all the other crap that people typically eat with meat doing the damage (processed buns, chips etc all fried in vegetable oils). In this case is Dominos pizza, (profanity) horrible for your health, plant based or otherwise.

      • +1

This article just says meat alternatives can have high salt content, not that it's salt content is higher than meat. Be sure to read and understand what you consume. Nothing about more or less healthy. Many packaged food products are have deceiving marketing to imply they're "healthy"

    • There are a few different technologies going around now, and a few in development. Quorn uses mycoprotein (fungus) as a base for many of their products and the meat-like striations are very realistic.

The Impossible burger uses heme (as in the heme in red blood cells) that were produced by genetically modified fungus. Expect to see more breakthroughs with modified cell factories.

    • It's a typical dominos pizza but on the smaller side. The loaded burger and Hawaii are nice. If you want really nice vegan pizzas they about $25-35 in WA.

    • +1

As far as plant-based meats go, in my opinion they are pretty good. When I used to eat meat I would often get Hawaiian pizzas and I prefer the plant-based one. I would never have gotten the ground beef, but the vegan one is not bad. Haven't tried the pepperoni. The vegan cheese is reasonable, but it doesn't melt perfectly, in my experience the vegan cheeses melt better when they're squished between stuff, like in toasties or pizza pockets or whatever.

    • Yeah I thought the ham and cheese (only flavour I've tried so far) was good. I've been casein intolerant all my life so these vegan pizzas are…saving…my……..bacon…………I'm sorry.

Thanks OP - worked in NSW

  • +6

yum, I'm loving the plant based diet! have gained 18 kgs in 2 weeks but!!

    • Better to be eating beetroot instead of Bessie I say or lettuce instead of lucky.. Keep the train going of non meat foods and their respective pet names.

    • +4

Nobody finds that discrimination amusing anymore, as the majority of sensible people know vegans aren't like they're portrayed online.

Just like how it's no longer normal to make fun of people who are transgender or who aren't straight.

Most people have moved on. If you want to complain about people who don't affect you, find another place to use as your echo chamber.

      • -3

I find it hilly offensive that you did not see the joke in this. It's also extremely offensive that you tell me to find another place to "echo Chamber". HOW DARE YOU!!!!

  • +2

    Pickup/delivery missing from title

  • +6

I've tried these vegan pizzas and I believe they are the same quality and flavour as their non-vegan counterparts. ie: equally crap.

  • Cheers OP!

  • +1

I wish they'd bring back those 97% fat free pizzas!

    • +4

What is it? an empty cardboard box?

  • These are really good quality. Highly recommend to try

  • Can't change toppings, no option to add or remove :(

    • Yeah I know. I'm disappointed.

  • +12

Recently tried these on my wife's recommendation and was pretty surprised by how good they were. Making the transition to a purely plant-based diet is getting much easier with more quality and variety.

Only allowed 3 vegans in each order, so did 2 orders. Cool.

I tried the plant-based Hawaiian (not full vegan) and the plant-based ham tasted identical to regular ham. If they can lower the prices, I'll be choosing plant-based every time

    • -1

Why? If they both taste the same just choose the cheaper option.

      • +7

        Because ethics I guess?

        • -1

Ethics mustn't be that important if you're happy to eat the non-vegan option until the vegan option is cheaper…

          • @[Deactivated]: So you never, ever do anything that you consider might be morally questionable?

The only way I could buy that is if you were somewhat evil and don't have morals at all!

            • @callum9999: To be honest, my morals are pretty much just whichever option is cheaper with a few exceptions when I take into account convenience, taste (for food), extra cost vs quality. A couple examples would be:

Caged eggs - I prefer to buy "free range" not because of the chicken but because I feel they taste better and the extra cost is not that much more.
Media - I pirate everything except music. Spotify for $3/month is nothing and it's convenient to not have to find/download songs.

So yeh, my morals are questionable.

  • +1

Vegan range looks highly sparce. Just plant based ham and vegan cheese. They are ripping you offon toppings. Much better to just get veg pizzas

    • +1

But vegans can’t have vegetarian cheese, only vegan cheese.

I used to get vegetarian pizzas and change it to vegan cheese (because vegan pizzas were always excluded from coupons), but then my local dominos had a go at me, so I stopped buying dominos altogether :p

  • +6

Vegan Loaded Burger pizza goes down a treat

    • They don't have that one at my locations :'''(

  • +2

Used the code for delivery. Had to add one side to meet the delivery minimum. Hence three pizzas plus one side = $24.5 delivered. Dinner sorted :)

  • +4

fyi after filling up on meat pizza or chicken parmas I usually feel my heart beating, bloated etc. Just ate a heap of this stuff and it doesn't happen. Just saying.

    • -1

If you notice bloating after eating meat, it could be a sign of malabsorption and be representative of a failure to digest food properly.
With the bloating do you also get reflux or suffer heartburn?

With feeling your heart beating, are you meaning it beats faster (tachycardia) or palpations, or both? It may be as you say due to large consumption, but at worse could be a result of an underlying heart disease, such as heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or valve disorder.

Maybe you should go see your doctor to be sure?

That aside, the meat-based Supreme has 13% more protein than the plant-based Supreme. So that may be a contributor.

      • +2

Thanks for your help. Sometimes it's hard to find recipes to get enough satisfaction and taste with veggies. That's why I like things like this - new ideas.

I used to eat far too much meat. Blood pressure was bordering on high and cholesterol was pretty bad. I tried cutting out meat and a month later blood pressure had improved and was close to normal. A few months later good/bad cholesterol ratio was better and overall was down. So will try to minimise meat percentage from here on.

        • +2

That's great to hear! Often food itself is the best medicine.

Just make sure you don't neglect B12 if going meat free.

        • That's weird. Seems like it was something you were eating with the meat that was the problem. I (and many others) eat nothing but meat and have perfect blood work and blood pressure. There is no evidence suggesting that meat itself is the problem.

          • -1

@elli0t: There is evidence that red meat and processed meat cause cancer though, so hopefully not too much of those. It's recommended that you don't consume more than 100g (pre-cooked weight) of lean red meat per day and limit consumption of processed meats.

  • Good deal. Also your username checks out!

    • Is SIQ a value trap or a contrarian buy after the recent downgrade?

  • Just picked mine up. Saved $22.30
    Burger one is worth $16.90!
