I just wanna know why anyone would need 4k 60hz TN when there is VA and IPS high refresh rate 1440p for cheap these days

    • I think we left need behind at 1080p

    • I thought about this and came up with a possibility. Obviously it has to be gaming because you wouldn't buy TN for anything else, so it would to be some serious sim gaming, like xplane, train sim, omsi. Those are totally CPU limited so resolution doesn't really matter, and they don't get over 60fps anyway.

But it would have to be people who specifically only play those games, because there are related games that are better optimised.

I thought about this too. For a long time. Had to go into a store with all 3 panel types to see for myself (Centrecom is great for this).

While 100% an IPS or VA will reproduce colour a lot better than a TN the real consistently noticeable difference for me was ghosting. All the TN panels almost did not suffer from any ghosting at all while it was the first obvious issue with IPS panels I saw.

Over time I can live with a colour difference, as it's easy to forget when not consistently being compared to another screen. But ghosting will be noticed every time.

That's what made the decision for me personally.

Otherwise the AOC U2790VQ is a 4k IPS 60hz panel that can be had for $369 plus there's an AOC $50 cash back offer available until mid Jan.

    • I used to have two FHD monitors and one set as portrait mode to read the A4 print at work.
Now I have two 4K monitors in landscape and it works better. Sad that 4K gaming is expensive …

      • If you want 4k for productivity, that's fine. But I thought TN was only still around cause it can do 240hz and low response time. No other reason, and certainly not for a productivity monitor.

  • Why is the OP still searching same monitor after purchasing one from Amazon?
