It's not worth buying movies in online services. You don't own them; you're just buying the right to view them from that provider, so long as they own the rights. If Apple lose the rights to Bond, you're screwed. Also, if they want to remove the movies from your library (eg if some government thinks they're obscene), you're screwed.

I agree. It's better to download them and put them on an external drive, then hook that up to a smart TV.

You could use a converter, like TunesKit M4V Converter, and save your purchased movies on your drive forever. But it won't be in 4K. So buying discs still has its advantages.

Actually iTunes allows you to transfer ownership to someone else when you pass away.
They were taken to court about this very fact and changed their terms to reflect that you do in fact own your purchase.
Google play movies also state you own your purchases.

Also they can’t remove any purchased films from your collection if they loose the rights. They actually have conditions in their contracts with providers that means you have them for life regardless of rights issues. All that would happen if they lost the rights is no new purchases could be made but you would continue to be able to download them.

I'm guessing doesn't include Never Say Never Again and Casino Royale (1967).

They were the best ones too…

    iTunes still exists?

    • Yes

Still taking more money than any other app store despite having almost no users. Apple users typically hold down high paying jobs, go to church and are not involuntary celibates.

    • The store yes, the app is gone on Mac computers, split into separate Podcasts, Music and TV apps.

  • is this a bargain?

  • +1

This is not a bargain $99 for all the physical disks would be however, this is basically a $5 rental that expires when the license is revoked

    • Nope, You own them for life even if Apple looses the right to sell them
This has been discussed at great length on whirlpool etc and apple have confirmed repeatedly that even if they lost the rights to sell them you would still continue to have access to any movies you had purchased.

  • Don’t forget 4.9% cash back from Cashrewards on iTunes purchases.
