  • I’d rather get 3-4 electric scooters for that price

    • Yes,Scooters is a biggest market than electric skateboard. Thats why is more cheapest

        • +14

          It's skateboards not skate boards.

Hope you're a nicer person than your English.

          • -2

@Eggsperential: Even the website and deal itself has bad English lol.

            • +7

@[Deactivated]: Not sure why that's really an issue for you. You don't have to buy from them or jump on the deal.

Is it a pre-requisite that your english is perfect to trade in this country and to post on ozbargain? A bit of tolerance goes a long way.

@Eggsperential: Haha is it just me or do people here not handle a little sarcasm very well? Honestly though the price of these boards is not very good. Not to mention the reason behind scooters being cheaper is not so much the market but more so the way they are built.

  • What would happen if you fell off one of these things, would it just keep going without you?

    Funny to think about.

    • +3

No because you have to hold the accelerate trigger on the remote

      • Yeah, that makes sense.

Thought it was all foot operated.

Probably have to pay the 10% GST.
For those interested, the Exway X1 / X1 Pro is available locally in Australia. Stiffer deck, better local support.

Also the wowgo 3x just released a few months ago. Probably the better buy if you can get at a decent discount.

No GST was charged when I last purchased it.

      • Great to hear you didn't get charged GST - but it does depend on which board you purchase.
OP listed two boards in title, the US$999 AT version would likely attract GST since it is over A$1000. Perhaps not for the W2
        As per ATO's website

Goods with a customs value of A$1,000 or less (referred to as low value goods) that you purchase from overseas may now include goods and services tax (GST).
GST will apply at the point of sale in the same way it does when you buy goods from a business in Australia.

        Also via Ownboards own FAQ

Do I need to pay for tax?
1.If you buy a complete board, no tax will be charged for orders shipped to the US and the EU.(tax will be charged for customers in NZ/Norway/Switzerland/South Korea)
2.If you buy spare parts and ship them to EU/NZ/AU, you will need to pay tax.

Just picked up my W2 acquired from black friday deals, was looking at the, wowgo/backfire/exway aswell but the ownboard came in US $100 cheaper and has the farthest range… Got the board & remote on charge now, can't wait to go for a burl on some of Brisbane's bike ways this arvo

Would love some feedback once you have a crack on it.

Here is my experience of it from a previous post:

There's also the electric skateboarding subreddit which has a ton of info/reviews:

Have racked up about 50km over the weekend, great board, plenty of acceleration and good top speed, went for a ride with a mate on a hub driven wowgo, the ownboard smoked it in most categories. Had a good stack riding over some soft loose gravel/dirt the front wheels dug in and I went flying hitting my helmet on the dirt, made a big dent in the helmet, can only imagine the damage done had I not been wearing it… Got wrist guards and knee pads, just need to get some elbow pads now… Yeah great board worth every penny, I'm addicted now, looking into bafang bbshd kit for the pushy and mercane ww scooters

Got mine from the black friday deal too. Have only been able to go for one ride with all this bloody smoke around. Coming from a scooter this thing scares the hell out of me. Going 40kmph without a handle bar of some sort takes some getting used to. Can't wait to get more comfortable with it.

These are legal in the ACT from today, along with scooters and unis!!!
