  • Number of Pieces: 234. RRP seems too high… (printed parts or any other reason?)

    • +1

It's a Juniors set (now marked as "4+"), which usually includes bigger pieces for quicker and easier building.

      • Yep, bad dice by Lego relabelling it such - really not clear that it's the toddlers' stuff.

        • +1

Yes its very hard to see the small 4 + on the box Bud :)

          • @profar: What does 4+ mean? Four upwards? It is misleading - any normal person over 6 will find this range well below their ability.

The Classic range is marketed 4-99. Not the same at all, is it!
5+ 6+ 9+ 12+ can be built and enjoyed by any age (depending on obvious minimum ability), even sets with upper age recommendations such as the Creator 7-12 sets can be enjoyed by much older builders. All those sets can be broken down and reused with endless limitations. Not so with the 4+ range.

When it was first launched, I ordered three sets of the Lego Movie 2 spaceship hoping my kids would be able to recreate a Lego Space set I had as a child.
Alas it was one of the first so-called 4+ sets and both vehicles were pretty much pre-assembled/pre-moulded.
If it had been labelled Juniors or 4-6 I would have known what to expect and steered clear.

The Juniors tag was fairly self-explanatory - for younger builders, with below Novice ability.
Even Duplo is more challenging and verstile than most of this stuff.

Do you not think Lego have been a bit sly with this rebranding?

            • @sam buster: In a further twist, I've just seen some of the last Classic range (eg Lego 11003) was labelled 4+ too, just without the red background.
None of that was oversized, pre-made pieces.
So 4+ could mean either the former Juniors theme or the previous 4-99 range.

The red 4+ likely won't be enjoyed by anyone over 5 years old, whereas the 7-12 Creator range can be enjoyed by adults.

  • Thanks OP, got one for my son's birthday next year.
