Got one and it's great. It definitely punches above its weight for its size. It also sounds significantly better than any tv speakers. I've got the matching subwoofer coming in too! Also use it to cast Spotify and I use it as a pseudo Google home. Would recommend!
OHHhh the sub is what I'm looking to do as well! well that + 2x ikea/sonof speakers for the rear.
I'm currently using a Yamaha 108b and it's ok, but no sub is killing me.Thanks heaps for your input, you can read reviews etc but you never know how one sided they are when comparing to other brands.
If you are planning to use Beam with ikea/sonos rears and sub, this would make it a really nice setup. By removing bass duty to sub, beam really shines.
I am also wanting to get the Sonos Sub as well and current sub price on amazon is really tempting, but it was hard as is to convince wife for this sound bar and I don't have it in me to convince her for the Sub as well.
I got one from JBHIFI during black Friday.
I would say, I am mildly disappointed. It sound great for music but the soundbar as is for TV is not that great. Friend has Bose Soundtouch 300 soundbar and comparing that to my sonos Beam, beam is not that impressive.Works well for dolby content but most of the TV channels are in stereo and with stereo signal it sounds just like my TV Speakers. in fact is sounds even lower than my TV speakers. Lot of people has this issue when watching FTA channels.
Anything you cast to it, it sounds great, even from TV apps such as netflix and youtube, it sounds good but for FTA channels it sucks.Ahhh, so that's where the mixed bag results are coming from then. thanks heaps for that.
To be honest we watch FTA about 2-3 times a year so shouldn't be an issue for me, can see how it would be pretty annoying for some though.
So throwing out a more general question then, how reliable is it?
is it like most tech things where it needs to be power-cycled every week or so?No issues casting to it or anything?
Tech wise this is a solid equipment. Never had to restart it or power cycle it. Casting works wonders, trips out my Dad every time I do that (How! how are you doing that, having a different picture and different sound coming out at the same time?).
Household is iphone users so only airplay experience and it has been great so far, you can cast everything from your phone to beam via airplay without any issues (Whatsapp video and voice message doesn't work with airplay).
I also have Sonos one in stereo setup in my office and its really great when I am listening something in office and can group it or even cast it to beam effortlessly.I would also suggest of getting the wall mount bracket for this as well, it makes it very neat and tidy setup.

Just purchase one today price matching at Harvey Norman. Very impressed so far from such a small form factor.
Bought one from JB price matched amazon without any issue.

I listened to one in JB-HiFi the other day and was very surprised how good it sounded in store, but it would be good to hear someone's opinion that actually has first hand experience.
