Here's one that looks great if there's something you're hunting in the manchester department. They seem be re-running the deal they had going for Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

Heaps of different individual products on there, far too many to list out, but I just picked up a $400+ sheet set for $99.

This is part of Boxing Day Sales for 2019

    It was never $400.

They set their own inflated RRP, possibly dearer than their quality products in their retail stores. Trading on the reputation of that expensive merchandise.

It's an outlet store - selling lower quality product made for that discount store.

Quite disappointed with quality of my expensive RRP purchase, marked down to 1/3 of that price.

  • Seems this is the same as last month's active $99 or less deal

My guess is less available now.

  • I bought the Rydal single sheet set a couple weeks ago for $75(ish), now its $99

  • Bought linen mix sheets cheaper in previous sale ($70, now $99 & no longer available in Queen).

Q: which month this year didn't Sheridan Outlet have a sale?
    A: None!

Shopback increased cashback to 9% on 25/12 last year! Maybe worth a short wait to save more.

  • Has everyone forgiven them for their last deal reneg bungle?
I will never forget, never forgive.

    • Please elaborate

      • Sheridan cancelled orders for "misusing" their WELCOME10 code
The $10 discount code was available to all who signed up for their offers & account.

But they received so many orders (3k clicks & probably multiple orders) at one time using the new customer code on… OzBargain.

Many would have been free $10 orders (eg Free Hand Towel) + free delivery - with Sheridan paying!

Any merchant can withdraw their promotions & codes if it appeared to be misused. Some merchants honor the discount, others don't.

Don't think Sheridan are concerned by a boycott of people who had their free orders rejected. It's a common enough occurrence on OzBargain with various businesses. But people still vent their outrage at missing out.

In a free $700 value business Deal (18K clicks), so many thousands submitted a code (meant only for a small number of Diners Club members). Many used the business lounge free for a month. But were furious when free membership offer was rejected!
They were given the option of submitting their DC membership number or an offer of a discount for what people thought they were entitled to free.
Businesses can't afford that big a loss & their business lounges overrun by non-paying Ozbargainers, rather than high paying business customers ordering expensive additional business services!
Again a boycott was called for, but almost no one would use the service if they had to pay for it. So just an inconvenience for the business processing & rejecting thousands of invalid membership.

        • The difference here is, the majority of people who got burned by their stingy refusal to honor their $10 deal (which would have cost them more like $5 to honour) would have bought Sheridan products in the future.
Hell, I have Sheridan sheets on my bed right now (that I bought from Myer years ago) They're like the McDonalds of bedding in Australia, so a lot less has cost them a lot more, compared to Regus.

          • @CitizenCane: But those sheets from Myer are not Outlet Store quality (ie poorer quality than Sheridan retail sheets).

I've got both - Outlet store is overpriced & cheaply made in comparison. They're specially made for Outlet stores for a cheap price. My retail store sheets are great & long lasting.

But you bought those before this problem. So no guarantee of future purchase of lesser quality product!

People say they would have bought but won't now because a code was withdrawn… But people willing to pay high prices aren't affected by a minor problem with a $10 free order!

People wanting free product & free delivery are exactly not the type of customers the business wants!

And the free delivery, processing of order, plus the product would cost far more than $5 to Sheridan (as you claim)!

So I doubt almost none would be likely to be big customers lost by a rejected $10 discount😉 So no loss to Sheridan.

I didn't buy in that Deal - because I found the Outlet store quality is low, and had too many hand towels anyway. Otherwise I try my luck, expecting some Deals will be rejected.

The Regus deal was a years use of their business lounge, "valued at $700" (A place to sit, use WiFi & drink their coffee). But the marginal cost to Regus would be far less. The real cost would be the loss of business customers (renting offices & conference rooms), due to overcrowding & loss of prestige of the paid membership.

            • @INFIDEL: "And the free delivery, processing of order, plus the product would cost far more than $5 to Sheridan!"

I'm not so sure, processing the order costs nothing unless they have to employ more people, the product has a huge markup to begin with, delivery would be the main cost.
And they have no 'big customers' unless you're talking about hotels or something.

So their outlet stores' primary demographic would be individuals, who buy online, and are looking for a good deal.
Exactly the demographic that frequent ozbargain.
So where as Regas would have lost close to no potential customers, the people that were burnt by their $10 reneg would have been almost all potential customers.

Anyway, I get the feeling that 'infidel' might not be big on Christmas, but Merry Christmas anyway!
              I smell reindeer.

              • @CitizenCane: My house has a reindeer "no-fly-zone"😉
May your roof be covered in their droppings in the morning🎅

In consumer boycotts, people always say they would have spent $X, but that's rarely the case. There's a fair bit of research on the matter.

Business needs paying customers to make profits, not freeloaders. Those with cancelled orders identified themselves as very unlikely future customers! Identifying & attractive prospective customers is vital in retail.

processing the order costs nothing… Really? (admin costs, packaging, staff costs, etc) all add up in business. With an unexpected influx of orders, extra staff often need to be brought in to handle it. Much cheaper to reject the orders for misuse of discount code! Even at the possible loss of a few customers.

I based my business consultancy out of Regus for a few years (of free membership)😉

                • @INFIDEL: "(admin costs, packaging, staff costs, etc) all add up in business."
They are fixed costs that don't change because of one ozbargain deal. Same with rent, utilities etc.
You can't include them in the cost of this deal because they would be the same regardless.

And calling all of us 'freeloaders' because we took advantage of a good deal is a bit of an insult to your fellow ozbargaineers.

Another way to put it would be: what discerning bargain hunter would not take advantage of a great deal that costs little to nothing?
                  The ignorant, the lazy?
Like I said before the same people that would jump on a great deal on sheets online are EXACTLY the same people they are trying to attract with this deal.

                  • @CitizenCane: Was addressing this from the perspective of the business, which I have some experience in. You don't seem to understand it from that view. It is different to the OzBargain perspective.

From a business perspective, it's likely they won't even notice your apparent boycott. They're not interested. They're getting on with business!

And I'm a proud freeloader - often getting stuff free here, rather than paying for it. (On Friday, got free clothes from a retailer - shown as originally $110 on price tags, & free lunch at Japanese restaurant!)
Insulting?? From our perspective - it's normal & positive, but negative from a business perspective, so not desirable😉

Processing of orders, including packaging is definitely not a fixed cost & definitely not no (additional) cost as you claim. There is a component of fixed cost. But the more unexpected orders to be processed in a given time, the higher the cost. It can put a huge strain on a business. Very different to pure fixed costs!

Complaining by venting (complaining about it here) is a very unproductive act. It is likely to have no impact on the business. But people continue to do it Deal after Deal. It possibly makes the person happier, but often not. And it ties up valuable time that could be spent having a better life, bringing in extra income, or finding the next Deal…
