Wonder if Amazon will get this price too to stack with the 12% cashback tomorrow.

  • Just holidaying in CA, and the price is CA$479, and at the XE exchange rate of 1.098 (https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=…) if you can find a way to get it re-shipped from there, you'll avoiding Yankee tax.

If it's only $43 difference (with 1.098 exchange rates), adding postage and GST ($52) will end up being minimal savings or exceed local costs with OP's posted discount. Not to mention warranty issues and resending it back to Canada.

Hoping for a quest sale of some sort from some one..
    Looking at you amazon.

    • Quest was $569 on black friday from Amazon. With all the bandwagon hype it's gonna be a struggle for them to push lower than that.

      • +2

I don’t think the quest went on sale during Black Friday…. otherwise I would of bought one haha

      • +2

Quest wasn't on sale, it stayed at it's normal price throughout. The rift was $568 (cheaper by a dollar) and I stacked two different cashbacks on it, making it cost less than $500.

        • Was it worth?

    Vendor in title please

  • is the Rift S better then the oculus Quest, new to VR but have a gaming PC so not sure whats better for entry level but waiting for a good VR set sale

    • The major difference between the Rift S and the Quest is the standalone experience on the Quest. It has phone like hardware that can make it run independently. The Quest was initially designed to be only that, a mobile battery operated experience, until they created a single USB type-C cable that can be hooked up to gaming PC. This obviously made the Rift S almost completely redundant since the Quest is now the best of both worlds.

      • thanks for the info , was about to buy the Rift S :P i'll hold out and see if a Quest sale go's up

Quest is not the best of both worlds but using a less powerful wireless headset is better than using a PC powered tethered headset for many people.

    • +1

Depends on what you're after. Quest is a stand alone with its own built in Snapdragon 835 chip which makes it tetherless but with limited computing power. The Rift S requires a tether to the pc but has access to both the Oculus store and Steam VR.

AFAIK Quest can also be made to access Steam VR but requires a workaround

  • think ill wait to see if amazon drops their price, i assume amazon ships from their AU warehouse? should be faster?

    • +1

Yes, they ship it from their AU warehouse. Ordered on friday, got it by monday.

I purchase one from the Oculus website recently… Ships from Hong Kong but sent with DHL Express, arrived in 3 days to WA

    • i gave up waiting for amazon to drop their price and ordered direct from oculus, of course 10 minutes later i refresh amazon and they matched the price haha.. oh well

      • You can cancel the order if they haven't shipped. I cancelled mine during Black Friday and got mine from Amazon instead

  • Im waiting for Amazon to price match again :( Buying from the oculus website says shipped by the 17th of jan…
