You can buy UHD players with recorder not much more I believe…

Though surely the days of needing to record FTA are numbered, let alone 3 simultaneously… On demand apps and Kayo for example….

Yes if you have those paid services or access to apps via the TV which are most ppl these days. These units are a dying breed. Only for those still using disks and FTA.

    • surely the days of needing to record FTA are numbered

Why? Catch-up TV streaming is sh!t quality and has ads. My old and battered 2GB netbook running TV Scheduler Pro with a plugged-in USB DVB-T tuner keep on churning, and my live watching through Windows 7 Media Centre of HDHomeRun is unmatched.

Each to his own, I guess.

      • Agree. Quality of catch-up TV is terrible and has unskippable commercials. I use a stand alone PVR all the time to record TV and skip through all commercials with hardly any interruption to the program. Way easier than recording on PC. Even though I have a TV tuner on my PC for watching and recording TV.

Does anybody still burn recordable media in these days of streaming content another source?

      • Fair enough, but you could also add FTA in general is shit…unless you are keen on reality TV shows…. I'd only watch live Sport, and now Kayo has pretty much covered that.

    • Not in out house, have a Beyonwiz Lite recorder and brilliant ICE TV EPG, we record all we like and adjusted so we can skip over ads with remote, been doing it this way for a decade.

Pick up a Notebook DVD from the video shop for $2.95. That would be fun night.

      • Video shop? Do they still exist. We'll have to do Netflix n Chill, instead.

        • +2

Yeah. Down the road there is actually still a corner video store. Ok maybe drug den now with a video store front.

  • I bought the previous model - the 945 - with very similar specs about 4 years ago. At the time it was brilliant because I often had night shifts so during ratings season you could record 3 programmes at once. Once recorded you could edit out the commercials from the show and then copy it to a dvd or Blu-ray. Admittedly you would still get those bloody annoying banner ads.

Barely use it now, unless I watch a Blu-ray. Haven't recorded anything except some occasional sport. Unfortunately Optus now has the rights to the EPL.
