    (Haier)

    • Care to explain what's wrong with Haier?

      • +2

Nothing at all wrong with Haier. Why? Did you think I implied there was something wrong with Haier?
However, not many people know that F&P (appliances) is now owned by Haier. Just like Westinghouse is owned by Electrolux and Sharp by Foxconn.

Ok then. When you comment, try to be specific so it's not being misinterpreted

Thanks for clarifying that. It was useful information that I didn't previously know. It sucks that brands are getting consolidated to fewer and fewer owners. I think in general Chinese brands are known to cut corners and have sub-par build quality. That might be why he thought it's relevant information to bring up?

          • @minijumbuk: I have no knowledge of cutting corners by Haier.
F&P is an 'old' Kiwi brand held in very high regard in Australia. F&P ran into difficulty and sold off the consumer appliances arm to Haier.
In my opinion, new owners of 'old' brands try not to advertise the new ownership, I suspect for not so honourable reasons!

Do your homework before you "suspect for not so honourable reasons!". Do you understand the arrangement of the merger? Just look at Marantz being merged into Denon.

    • +2

Do you? F+P and Haier did not merge. F+P (appliance) was taken over.
      https://www.reuters.com/article/us-haier-fisherpaykel-takeov…

Denon and Marantz merged to form D+M (although D+M itself has now been bought by someone else).

I know it's n=1 but minijumbuk above did not know of F&P being owned by Haier. I suspect most are not aware of these acquisitions….like Porche by VW and JLR by Tata and Volvo (Cars) by Geely!

        @amaris ty useful info!

  • Where are these machines being manufactured?

    • China where else

  • Looks like good value, wonder why few upvotes!?
    I checked, made in china

  • Does anyone know if you can wash fairly small loads in these 9kg models? I want the big size for occasional loads like bedding but normally I only have a small to medium load.

    • +1

You can of course but the water used will be more than needed if it's a small wash. I don't think this machine has a sensor to make sure the correct amount of water is used for the wash load. Probably need to spend around $1000-$1500 for that kind of AI.
