[XB1] Grand Theft Auto V Added to Xbox Game Pass

27435

Even now we're beyond the Christmas season, Xbox Game Pass continues to be the gift that keeps on giving, with Grand Theft Auto V being added to the console service today

Still one of the best games around. Never got around to finishing it though.

Mod:

As always users will decide what is a deal or not via the voting system, from feedback received in the past, generally users appreciated these posts. If you believe that is not or no longer the case feel free to share your thoughts on Should Xbox Games Pass Adding Games Be Allowed as Deals? and we can act accordingly, if there is an overwhelming sentiment against such posts.

As this post doesn't breach any current guidelines, it's therefore up to the users to decide if it's a good deal by voting as is the case with any similar deal, assuming that deal is posted with genuine intent. If users are split in their feelings, we would rather keep it posted as a deal, as it is better to post and benefit some than not post it at all.

What a bunch of Mod: Foul Language … it needs to be on the forum wahhh wahhh…

    • -5

not the issue. the issue is mods removing neg votes

      • +5

They've removed 2 of the 24 in total so far and you're the only one sooking about it. I wouldn't call that a issue worth commenting several times about.

        • -5

but this is a public forum and i need to be heard!

        • -5

they also disabled a user calling out the hypocrisy. we just want consistency with posting guidelines.

          • @belongsinforums: We don't "disable" users. Please stop making up stories.

            • @neil: ok. it looked like someone was disabled but maybe he disabled himself

        • they also removed my 'new media added to subscription service' post

          • @belongsinforums: Yes trolling.

            • @neil: what if this post was a troll? how do you determine what is a troll post and what isnt?

              • @belongsinforums: It's pretty obvious when someone posts soon after negging this one.

                • -1

@spackbace: that's still an arbitrary judgement. the deals about the luxury cars being discounted when at the end of their sale lives are, arguably, tongue in cheek, yet they stay up. how are they not troll posts?

              • @belongsinforums: We've taken extensive trolling training and are world renowned for our skills in shitposting detection.

  • +9

So is it any new content added to any subscription or just Xbox Game Pass that qualifies as a deal? Or is it just popular games?

    • +3

don't post a song added to a subscription music service. mods will delete that post, but this post is fine somehow

      • Well they have been deleting a lot today a huge assault of this crap has been posted this morning .

      • One is trolling and the other isn't. Simples.

        • Simples.

Yes both are adding content to a platform doesn't really matter if paid or not . Some are being deleted other aren't .

          Fix up your act !

          • @profar: Our act is fixed. Fix up your act! What are we talking about?

            • +1

@neil: Grey area about adding content to a platform you say some are trolling .

Both are the same not a deal !

              • @profar: Both are same, intent is not the same. It's pretty obvious when you see the posts (and the posters).

        • so did a mod make a decision that the witcher post was also a troll?

          • @belongsinforums: Technically witches fly around and trolls hang out under bridges. Can witches be trolls? Good question.

            • @neil: witcher is some sort of demon slayer, not a witch. i understand the spelling is extremely close, though

  • +5

    Upvoted just to trigger ;)

Bought this for $20 @ Dick Smith sales, traded for ~$16 to EB, now get to play it again :)

  • +5

Adding content to subscription services is not a deal.

    • If you want to discuss changed to guidelines then make a post in the site discussion forum.

      • +2

Games Pass was discussed in end of 2019 thread… did anything come of it?
or is it on the radar and that is it?

  • +5

Take my upvote for all these upset, bitter people.

    • -2

believe it or not, a top deal poster actually migrated to a different website because of inconsistencies with posting guidelines like this post

      • Who?

        • name was the name of a planet. id rather not post username to avoid targetted harrassment, but youve been here long enough to probably know the poster

          • @belongsinforums: Yep, and he came back here about a year ago at least.

And no, there was more to it than that. He basically chucked a hissy fit (publicly and in TWAM) and then deleted his account.

            • +1

@spackbace: of course it wasnt just one post that sent him elsewhere. all major posters seem to eventually move on with their lives. we're lucky we have industry insiders giving us the real deals heads up and the occasional ozbargainer striking gold with clearance products then posting on here.

  • +6

This really isn't a deal, it's more of a community heads up for the people who don't have game pass or ultimate subs.

I find it a little odd that you have to post a comment to neg a deal when can positive one without needing a comment. It doesn't make sense.

    • +5

Because you have to justify the neg I spose. If you had to post a comment to upvote there'd be a million useless "thx, bought" comments.

      • +3

this is why ebay discount code deals get hundreds of positive votes without any actual deals posted

      • +1

People regularly don't even thanks or up vote when they do…

    • See the voting guidelines. Negative votes should be used sparingly and if there is an issue with the product or the company etc and not because you don't feel this should be posted as a deal. More approrpriate would be to use the NO VOTE option and comment on this thread: Should Xbox Games Pass Adding Games Be Allowed as Deals?

      e.g.

      Good deals + vote
Don't like the deal, meh NO vote
Issue with product, service, company, not cheap - vote

Negative votes are there to highlight issues with the deal. Having a comment attached accomplishes this.

  • +7

Games being added to a subscription is not a deal.
Its the no different from Netflix adding a series and someone calling that a deal.
I did post a suggestion in the 2019 site suggestions thread, but nothing seems to have come of it (either way)

  • +10

NB Not a boomer, nothing personal against OP, and will probably download this today.

However this isn't a deal, this isn't "free" or cheaper than normal, nor is it time limited. It's not a free additional/ancillary bonus to a subscription service, it is literally the core part of the service (ie the access to a library of games). Eg if optus put up more cell towers and expanded their coverage that wouldn't be a deal as it's just an improvement of their core offering (providing cell coverage in this example). However if they offered a free subscription to Spotify or something for those on their cell plans then that would be a free bonus worthy of a deal. Not trying to be a negative Nelly but this and similar games pass posts don't qualify as deal. Sorry OP.

  • +7

Can you show me your calculations on the cost of me buying this game to own, either forever or until I resell versus cost of buying game pass and having this game until it's removed from game pass.
Id like to know my savings on this please.

    GAMERS RISE UP!!!

  • +5

    This post is gold

  • +1

Hey everyone, I've created a poll in the FORUMS section so that people can continue the debate there if they so choose to

  • +4

No deal when a game is added to a subscription … same price as before. Watching the Witcher now :-)

  • +1

Of course this is a deal at least for subscribers. GTA V is still selling $35 to $60 brand new on the market and its still selling well. For subscribers it adds value to their subscription and for non-subscribers you can now play this game for a cheaper price (get a month of subscription for 10 bucks, play it and quit) compare to what you would pay for a new game.

    • finish GTA V in a month? it's a massive game. sure, you could rush through it, but this is the kind of game you screw around in every once in a while, being an open world game and all.

      • I actually bought a physical copy and finished it in a month for campaign and didn't stick around after that. But yeah I see your point, it depends on how you play a game I guess.

        • and you could easily sell that physical copy or give it to someone as a gift

  • +5

    Nice deal thanks for sharing

  • +8

The price of the subscription has not changed. This is just a change to the content and therefore is not a deal. While useful information, content changes happen with subscription services all the time. This should be in the forums.

  • +3

I love this thread so much

  • +1

This is a great deal for the best game of the decade

  • Such a bunch of sooks.

  • Glad for this thread, if only because it alerted me that GTAV is coming to Gamepass. It's obviously not a deal, but the fact that I can sub now for $1 and play through GTAV for the month is definitely a bargain imo!

  • +3

I'm not going to repeat myself.

  • A surprising amount of the negative votes come from users who upvote PS4 and/or Switch deals. I wonder if the outrage is mostly just console war pettiness.

    • +1

Lol have you seriously gone on to all their profiles to see what they’ve upvoted in the past?! Bwahahagahahahaha…. talk about ‘pettiness’!!!

      • +1

@miq Yeah I did. I randomly took a look at a dozen or so of the negative voters and roughly 8 of them had upvoted numerous PS4/Switch deals. Make of it what you will dude.

The religious fanaticism with which some cats are banging on about this is way out of proportion to the issue.

    • You are very naive to suggest console fanboys is the reason… That kinda died in the 90s…

    • Background check me please.

    • I don't know about a "surprising amount", but one came from someone who also negged a free PS4 theme. But that might have more to do with their own insecurities than being a fanboy of some sort.

      • +1

I wouldn't neg a free theme, however, I won't comment on it because I believe that it's cosmetic rubbish that shouldn't be charged for anyway…. Hardly something that should warrant extra attention in the site anyway.

    • I'm an Xbox gamer. I've already explained my reasoning several times.

  • +1

I like these posts and would like to see them continue to be listed. Just my 2c.

  • +1

Price not in title. Mods please fix or remove post. Thanks

  • Not a deal because I don’t have game pass

    • +3

Does that mean your post should have been negged by people without PS+?

      • yes but it’s too late now

        • Does that mean people should neg the NAB $2000 grant for bushfires that you + voted if they don't bank with NAB, or their homes weren't destroyed?

Using the same logic as your reason for negging this deal (does not apply to you specifically), that seems fair enough.

          • -2

@IceCreamBandit: NAB deal should be listed as targeted

            • @lolmao: Difference with this? Can't this be targeted at people who have paid for the Game Pass?

              • -1

@IceCreamBandit: Targeted because you had to get your house burned down by a bushfire. This is not a deal because it’s an announcement of content available as part of a subscription service.

                • +1

@lolmao: No, your initial comment to neg the deal was because you don't have Game Pass.

So, was your house burned down by a bushfire? If not, my point this whole time was that you should be consistent and neg that deal because your house was not burned down by a bushfire.

                  • -3

@IceCreamBandit: I would neg the nab deal for the same reason but but some people might not be happy so I’m going to leave it

                    • +1

@lolmao: That's a cute justification. How altruistic of you.

You could always revoke your + there to show your true stance, but I guess you've chosen your mob to side with for each time.

Funny how people call for moderators to be consistent but then change their story/justification when they get caught for being full of…

            • @lolmao: Targeted doesn’t mean targeted. It means the deal isn’t open to the general public. Everyone has the option to buy a Game Pass subscription. Targeted would be if Microsoft was only offering GTA to randomly selected Game Pass subscribers.

          • @IceCreamBandit: What has their +1 for a NAB deal got to do with this? And its a very flawed logic, to even link the two, they have absolutely nothing in common.

This deal is like saying you get free a trip when you buy a weekly ticket… I
            E. You're getting what you paid for. The NAB deal is for people who were unfortunate enough to lost their home in the bushfire and they get a bonus $2k (or whatever) with NAB. Something they didn't ask for, nor paid for.. linking the two isn't just apples and oranges, it's apples and rocks.

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: My issue was the flawed logic used by lolmao to neg the deal (because they didn't have Game Pass) and yes, they negged using that comment before you ask.

Lolmao's justification in negging this deal was because it was of no relevance to them. Hence my questions asking if people should neg vote all deals that have no relevance to them.

Please follow the chain of comments fully before picking up on one thing to discuss out of context. Otherwise it is always going to be apples and whatever other object you want it to be. But hey, whatever it takes to try and make your point right?

              • +1

@IceCreamBandit: I did follow it. You logic is flawed.
You need GamePass, it's not targeted (your flawed logic there). And if you.do.have gepass (which they don't), then it's mot a deal, since its why you paid for Gamepass 8n the first place.

If you don't have GamePass it's not relevant, if you do have Gamepass, it's still not a relevant deal as its not a deal, you already have it… just like the weekly pass. Again your logic is flawed my friend…but to quote the expert

But hey, whatever it takes to try and make your point right?

                • @[Deactivated]: Maybe it is reading comprehension that you are lacking in then.

They negged this deal because they do not have the requisite membership/subscription for this deal to have any relevance.

I questioned this and asked if lolmao's own deal in the past should be negged. Lolmao agreed that it should.

You need GamePass, it's not targeted (your flawed logic there). And if you.do.have gepass (which they don't), then it's mot a deal

You should not neg a deal if it is of no relevance to you, if you do not have the membership/subscription. That would allow people to neg all Costco, Amazon Prime and eBay Plus deals if they do not have the relevant memberships.

Lack of relevance to a user does not allow them to neg a deal.

Have a reading of the Voting Guidelines and see when you should retain from voting.

The deal doesn't apply to you

There is no need to discuss logic here.

                  Read the guidelines.

Fellow neg'ers…head over to this thread and vote N O expunge this site of these No Deal postings!

    • +2

      Thanks, voted no

  • Was hoping to wake up this morning and some common sense had prevailed at this site and this thread was gone .
Content at other platforms yesterday was all deleted but somehow this X Box Pass prevails ?

  • +1

Can’t we just title these as free (for game pass holders)/$10.95 (cost of one month of game pass Membership)/$1 (new subscribers).

All three are good deals. The no deal argument is wrong for each and every one of them,

The mind boggles that we have 4 pages of stupid internet arguments about all this. I guess everyone’s on holidays? I’d rather spend my time playing gta v to be honest,
