1gb ram, wow even my Samsung galaxy tab a 2019 with 2gb ram is struggling

    • +1

to be fair, 1Gb on Android Go without Samsung's bloatware will probably be usable.

      • +6

        Nope.

        • Yeah this is a garbage device if it's the same thing they had a year ago

  • +2

It looks like this may not be the "plus", which claims 4G calling. The page states that this won't be able to make calls after 2024 when Telstra 3G is retired, though 4 years is a fair while.
Reading through whirlpool, it's been $99 before, and if this is the version 1, then not really that much of a bargain…

I've got the Telstra Enhanced tablet with $14 a month with 20GB data for 24 months. It has got 2GB ram and still very slow. Great hotspot gear though.

    • +2

Telstra 4G hotspots are often on special for $29.

      • even your $15 android phone makes a hotspot and can do so much more

      • When that deal was active there were people who were more interested in the 20 GB pm data for $14.

        • I think that is what he is referring to as great hotspot gear, hardware + 20gb for $14 pm is pretty decent on Telstra.

          • @ozhunter68: Yep. That's what I was saying. You might be able to get a mobile hotspot for $29 or a phone for $15 but does it come with 20 GB pm for $14?

I was very tempted by that deal and kept looking at it for several weeks but I just don't use that much data. I activated an 80 GB 365 day Boost SIM at the end of April and I've used less than 20 GB so far. And I really can't see myself carrying a tablet around with me when I'm not at home (and if I did I'd use the phone as a hotspot so I wouldn't need a 4G tablet or a separate data plan). And, as noted below by Sammy, the tablet itself didn't seem like it would be very useable (I don't need a Point Of Sale device).

    • Yeah that's the thing I'm referring to it's a POS

  • I can't see any mention of $10 credit. The link is the same as for the expired Telstra Essentials Tablet $99 + 15GB Data (10GB + 5GB Bonus) @ Telstra deal.

    • And Telstra have not updated their Bonus Data offer, expires October 2019 haha

  • +3

This is essentially a POS :P

  • I don't think I really believe that 3G is going away by 2024… Isn't basically every 4G android device that isn't a samsung usually limited to 3G voice calls?

    • +1

      Err no.
Many Android devices sold in Oz can do VOLTE (4G voice). However you need to be on Vodafone, Optus, Telstra directly. The only MVNO with VOLTE is Boost - AFAIK…

  • These are garbage I did the research a year ago when I found one cheap on gumtree brand-new sealed don't waste your time

Edit I think this is a different tablet but I would still pass

  • Is this just landfill?

    • Surely at least some of it is recyclable?

      • I suspect most people throw it in the bin despite the toxic battery
