If I were to ask you, would you go for this now or hold off for the PS5? Just want to play Final Fantasy VII Remake. But then again, it'll go out of exclusivity after a year. Should I just wait instead? What is the OzB way?

I bought one last year solely for the purpose of the FF VII Remake. Also, your chances of getting a PS5 on release day at the end of this year is questionable.
From tech point of view, of course hold out until PS5 is out but from wallet point of view, can you afford it once PS5 is out? Consider that for PS5 to come down in price, it'll be another year at least (after it's been released) :)
So if you're patient enough, hold - if waiting a couple of years seems too long, buy this one.
The issue is cost. As these other sages have so wisely advised you.
If the PS4 is $369, you can bet that the PS5 is going to be, in my opinion, possibly 60% more than that. I wouldn’t be surprised if a PS5 with a SSD and optical drive comes in at around $700+ with a release game.
There is usually a limited number of release games, though often a AAA title, which depending on what it is might be something you like. For instance the next XBOX will probably bundle with Halo, but some people hate that game.
So, the PS5 will be a technically superior device, no question but how many games will it play on launch, or even within six months, and how much will the thing cost?
PS5 is backwards compatible all the way from PS4 game disks to PS1. Don't quote me on this though. We'll see if it's true in the coming weeks.

Go for this now, there is already a massive library of PS4 games to enjoy. You don't even know what PS5 games are going to be available on launch.
Besides never buy the first iteration of a new gen console. There will definitely be a revised PS5 afterwards that will be better than the launch PS5 in every way. Example: Revised PS4 with mechanical buttons after all the issues with the electrostatic buttons on launch PS4s.
Ehh… my launch PS4 still works great, even though I later bought a pro (for less than this price on Amazon with Amex cash back a couple of years ago).
Buy it now, you'll still get $300 for it later selling it used when upgrading to PS5. No big loss.

The irony is that I went to Target yesterday to see whether I can get a raincheck on the PS4 Pro Fortnight deal. The lady said that this is a discontinued bundle and that's why they sold it for such a low price and wouldn't sell the console by itself for that price. She checked for remaining stock in all SA stores but found none and then she added - "I doubt that you will find a PS4 Pro for that price anywhere soon" - LOL, now I just ordered one for exactly that same price :D
