They were definitely monitoring this thread and they definitely still make a profit at 50% off.

If I can buy a Garmin Fenix 5s from Rebel at 50% off there must still be margin for both Rebel and Garmin to make a profit.

"To this end and having reviewed all of the available information, Garmin Australasia Pty Ltd will now commence processing all current outstanding orders that utilised this code and apologises for any inconvenience caused through this situation."

That sentence sounds pretty ambiguous to me, i don't want to get my hopes up, "processing" could also mean cancelling. It doesn't explicitly say they are honouring the outstanding orders.

    • +1 vote

This is how I read it too. I hope we are wrong.

      •

I think the OP who contacted Fair trading should call Garmin just to confirm as a proud representative if this decision was indeed turned by this individual's commitment as an Ozbargainer (despite everyone's varied view of his act).

    •

Same, I though "processing" means they're cancelling the order and returning the money..

      •

Looks like they don't take the funds until it's processed though.

My purchase for a Fenix 6x hasn't come out at all they have received the order.

    •

This was my first thought. The wording is ambiguous. Pray my bruddahs

    •

Definitely my first thought, ambiguous but I’m inclined to think they’re processing cancellations. Would love to be wrong. Has anyone called the number in the email to check?

  •

So much hurt missing out by minutes deciding on a band to go with the fenix 6 pro. When will I learn to just stuff it and place the order dammit!

    • +1 vote

Lesson for the future - just place it because you can typically return/exchange it if you change your mind.

Wow what a historic day for 2020 in the land of Ozbargain hunting and thank goodness for procrastination at work!

        Garmin : The Watch awakens
        Garmin : The Last Sale
Garmin : Rise of the Ozbargain Code.

With that being said, I hope that this will not be a double blow by everyone misinterpreting their updated email..

So I'm still keeping my hopes up!

  • +4 votes

I hope no one at Garmin got in trouble, I'd rather they just cancel the orders.
That said, their first mail should have been more truthful, even if they just said the code was supposed to be 50$ off and issue a new code for 50$ so people can reorder or something.

      The culprit was apparently third-party.

      •

Probably be the last time that running club gets a discount code…

      • +1 vote

I don't see why you'd let a third part set a monetary discount up to 50% on your platform…

I don't understand why you'd let any one have access to creating a discount at all. It sounds like BS to me.

Now a third-party releasing your screw up of a $50 but 50% code is another story.

      •

Sounds ridiculous that they would need a 3rd party to create a discount code on their site.
Maybe the code was supposed to be limited to a different region like the US? Who knows, but I think a 50% off site wide generic coupon is ridiculous enough that it's likely an error somewhere.

        •

Would it not have been a targeted discount for a running club that is either sponsored by or highly valued customers of Garmin?

          •

@gigi85: Even if that's the case, how do they know that the purchaser isn't in said running club?

A running club could have hundreds of members.

They can't distinguish between a legit club member or yourself unless they contact all of us and look like chumps.

Even if this was for a club the amount of times the code could be redeemed should have been the same as the club members. Or a code per member.

            •

@athk: Yeah fair call and maybe that's why they backtracked? I was banking on the same thing after the code was pulled but wasn't confident it'd happen!

          •

@gigi85: I don't see why they couldn't have generated unique codes like I've seen in magazine inserts, especially when the stakes are quite high like 50% off.

  •

I haven't actually received any of the above emails. I feel like the roller coaster left the station and I didn't even get on :(

  •

    Missed this by a minute.

Had item in cart, but for it failed to process the Amex.

Tried another card, but then it was saying not available in Australia, and then the site went slow, and code was removed.

    😭

  •

If orders were cancelled, shouldn't the order status section of our orders say so? Currently mine is still saying "order received" or is it going to just take them a few days to work out the system?
Like most, hoping they're approving the sale.

    CC Charged! woohoo.

  •

Yep, just had my credit card debited as well.

  •

    Confirmed charged. Shipping received!

  •

Just received confirmation that my order has shipped!

  •

Payment processed but shipping not confirmed. Not counting all of my chickens.

  •

    Charged too.

  • +1 vote

Got confirmation from Garmin - all orders are being fulfilled. 2020 Christmas come early.

  •

Did anyone had success with getting a fenix 6x pro? If so, can you please share your receipt so I can claim a price beat on CC? Thanks

    •

would just a receipt be enough? I thought there were more T&Cs around CC price protection - given this was achieved through a code just wondering if CC price beat would apply?

Also received confirmation of shipment for a Vivoactive 4S. Thanks OP and Garmin for honouring the deal.

  • +1 vote

Me too. Wonder if they're all being honoured or only some of the models.

  •

Confirmation of shipment for my Vivoactive 4! Woohoo! Stoked.

  •

recevied both my Venu and Fenix 6 Sapphire Carbon. thank you Garmin!

  •

Still haven't received shipping details and am nervously waiting confirmation. I'm sure it'll get there..just anxious when everyone is celebrating their updated status!

Have been billed though…so that's assuring..

Congrats to all who purchased - I was in meetings at the time this popped and missed the boat!

That said, had I been free to 'shop' I would have been frantically trying to decide which model/s to pick-up and probably would have missed the boat anyway. I largely run and swim so 'think' I'd opt for a Venu but there are so many models now. I'll get myself ready for 'next time' - ha!

    Enjoy your gear :)

  •

Mines shipped too. Thanks for the post OP.

  •

Fenix 6s Pro has shipped. A little buyers remorse, wondering if I should have gone the 6 Pro. My little girlyman wrists will be happy with the 6s though. Upgrading from a Vivoactive 3 which is similar dimensions and is about the right size for me.

    •

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the Fenix once you've had a good play - and how you find it in comparison to the Vivoactive range. Enjoy!

      •

It arrived today. I possibly could have gone the 6 over the 6s Pro. The 6s Pro is slightly smaller but thicker compared the VA3 - display is same size and resolution. It feels heavier than the VA3, not a great deal though, the thickness probably adds to the feel.

An unneeded upgrade for me, but for the discount why not. Extra activities (Kayaking, MTB, Hiking), maps (I have a handheld GPS and phone), better waterproofing, improved battery, improved HRM, etc.

    •

Lol I have tiny wrists too. What colour did you buy tho. All the 6s pro I saw where white and gold.

It's confusing how some places say 6s pro and some just 6s.

  •

Mine was dispatched yesterday, AusPost tracking gives a delivery estimate of between Thursday and Monday!?

Is the guy walking here with it?

    (I live Melbourne Metro)

  •

My Fenix 6X Sapphire was dispatched today.

I've just realised I ordered the wrong watch… I was after the Fenix 6 (not the 6X). I was in a rush to place my order as I had it in my cart when people were commenting the code was no longer working!

  • +1 vote

Received a Garmin 1030 yesterday and super happy with it already. Can't wait to use it on a ride now. Thank you Garmin for honouring this code.

Fenix 6X Sapphire received today :)

  •

I see some cheap BNIB Garmin Fenix and Edge computer on bicycle market now!

  •

Received my order, very happy with the watch.

  •

Received my Fenix on Monday, did enough distance on the run today to reward myself. Taking hours to update all the maps and firmware over NBN50
