Inspired by tall cold brew towers in stylish coffee shops, the Bruer Cold Brew System brings drip cold brew coffee to the home setting in a simple and beautiful ways.

HOW THE BRUER COLD COFFEE MAKER WORKS
The Cold Bruer’s upper chamber holds ice and water and features a flow regulation rod that can be adjusted to change the water’s dripping rate. The center chamber holds a filter and the ground coffee, which is slowly pelted by water drops. The bottom chamber collects the cold brew concentrate as it slowly drains from the coffee bed and through the filter.

The entire process takes 3 to 12 hours and yields up to 600 ml of concentrate. The resulting cold drip coffee is full-flavoured with a smooth, silky body. Cold brew coffee is less acidic and less bitter than hot brewed coffee, which makes it versatile and perfect for iced drinks.

The Bruer Cold Coffee Maker comes with a pack of 100 paper filters that are the same size as Aeropress filters. If you’d like a cup with a heavier body, try using a reusable stainless steel filter instead of paper. The Bruer is made with borosilicate glass, stainless steel, and comes in 3 colors of food-grade silicone to match any setting.

When it’s all said and done, the cold brew concentrate can be stored in the fridge for up to two weeks, to be used on demand for iced coffee, iced lattes, and mixed drinks.

What's the supposed advantage of cold drip as opposed to the cold brew from using a brew pot like this one? https://alternativebrewing.com.au/product/hario-mizudashi-co…

    • Afaik, they're pretty similar but cold drip is more consistent (you don't need to remember to take it out to prevent over-steeping letting in undesirable taste), and is also apparently just better because every drop of water has had to make its way through the coffee grounds, as opposed to just by diffusion from steeping. The second point I've never really personally noticed though.

I found the cold brew process to be very forgiving and over-steeping has never been a problem, unless you totally forgot about the pot and left it for 3 days in the fridge.

        Could use this cheapie too.

    • Flavour wise, theoretically not a whole lot of difference. I think the gravity drip speeds up the process, I can reliably turn out a nice batch of this in 4-6 hours where steeping takes 12-24 hours.

  • What ratio of coffee to milk do you use for iced coffees?

    • According to your preference. The usual recommendation is 1/3 coffee, 1/3 ice, 1/3 milk.

Basically personal preference. I drink mine black, and honestly because of how smooth/mild cold drip coffee already is, I honestly think that that's the best way. But refer to first sentence.

  • Will I need to keep topping up ice of it melts? I live in a very hot climate.

  • Aldi has these in their clearance bin if anyone is interested
