ShopBack Tracking/Cashback Getting/Got Really Bad

Has this happened to anyone else,

ive always been much happier with SB over CR in terms of tracking, support, cashback, rejections etc. etc.
and been a SB fan

however, my last 2 x groupon orders, both were not tracked, both rejected,

1st one followed up, approved, second one just today has been outright rejected, geting told it was not associated

it was from this deal just days ago

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/511245

it didnt track so I followed up and they said it wasnt associated, and the usual "dont use adblockers bla bla"reply

I dont use adblockers, and use the same computer , however, this was done via the SB app as per their conditions,

I also have another large transaction of almost $1000 cashback rejected a month ago from a different merchant, however, they are investigating that at present

Seems like all these rejections are a pattern and of expesnive items, and in the meantime, all the small ones are tracking fine, including groupons

ive emailed the rep who I usually Msg and it looks like he has not been online for over a month

getting pretty fed up

  • I'll tell u in a months time
my black friday sales shopback are still tracking, around 100 bucks worth in total
let's see how many go through

  • Not sure if it’s coincidence. But ever since I’m installed Cashback chrome addons, most of my purchases have not been tracking

I reccomend recording all CR/SB purchases in full HD with running commentary in case of dispute.

You need to ensure you record your settings page also.. and show a copy of the front page of todays paper to prove date.

    • I did this, still got the same c/p blaming response and they didn't even click the video. It was through their mobile app too and they were still sayi g ad lockers or extensions 🙄

  • My last two Groupon orders not tracked. First time ever. I did one with CR and one with SB. Have filed claims, awaiting results. Would appear to be a Groupon problem rather than CR or SB being to blame.

    • +1

I have exactly same experience. Awaiting results of claims. I agree more likely Groupon than either CR or SB.

      • i hope it is a once off or groupon issue,

I dont want to give up on SB,

but their excuses of rejection do make me angry,

they should be sending automated msgs saying that they are having issues with groupon, please be patient, type of msg

Yes it's quite bad. And worse, they blame you if something goes wrong. As if it couldn't possibly be a problem with either the retailer or SB.

I have over $1100 in lifetime cashbacks. I know the rules already, but I still get treated like a first time user doing dumb stuff like canceling an order (which they can check whether I did or not) or using ad blockers.

      Well said!

You get the usual, its the adblockers fault excuse

And the times they do track it later they make it sound like they are doing you a favour

You advertise something, customer follows the rules, you honor it, thats obligation, not goodwill

  • shopback rep has finally added my cashback onto my account, thankyou

its a pity I always have to report it missing, then get rejected by the first rep, followed by getting it approved by the next rep

and they've credited another one thats dated as today for $17.37 which im not sure what its referring to,

ive checked my purchases and cant tell where its from, so ill keep quiet:)

  • Mine has just been tracked by SB, still waiting on CR for the other Groupon one.

  • Just got a follow up email of the dos and donts to get cashback

One of them was to DO

Use incognito mode so no corrupt cookies.

Thats interesting, i ensure i never use incognito mode in case i get logged out without me knowing, and thus getting rejected

  • made two groupon purchases yesterday, one via app and one via desktop

no tracking yet, so im expecting to have to escalate it again in a weeks time,

given it was a lowish purchase, it might track, if it was expensive, not likely to track

    @hellohello123

    Hi hellohello123,

    > however, my last 2 x groupon orders, both were not tracked, both rejected,

Curious. My experience over the last couple of days has been totally contrary to yours. I spent a little over $575.00 at Amazon and $140 at Microsoft, and both orders were tracked perfectly. I got an email minutes after finalising each purchase I made advising me that the purchases were tracked.

    >it didnt track so I followed up and they said it wasnt associated, and the usual "dont use adblockers bla bla"reply

What's with the "bla bla bla" complaint? It's a well-known fact that ad blockers and popup blockers (along with different browser settings) can affect and stop extensions like this being used as they're supposed to. I turn my adblocker and popup blocker OFF when I make purchases and as a result, never have a problem. If support suggest something to you, you would be wise to follow their suggestions.

    > Seems like all these rejections are a pattern and of expesnive items

    No, I don't think so. I mean, if it was, then why wouldn't I have a problem with a $575.00 purchase? :)

    > Ive emailed the rep who I usually Msg and it looks like he has not been online for over a month

Don't stick to one rep. Just contact support and someone will surely help you. They have yet to let me down when I've contacted them.

    Hope this helps.

Something is very*1000 fishy here. Here is my dispute with Shopback and potentially with Myers from their 15% leap year promotion. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/521405#comment-8422612
    Starting with my reply to Cashback rejecting my transaction on a $3000 TV;

    Hi Debra,

Thank you for your email. The initiate order from Myer was cancelled but his was order number 1065201933. This was made at 6am, 29 Feb.
I went back into Shopback and made a fresh new purchase at 11.14 am local time, (12.14 am AEDT). This is purchase order no. 1065206462. This was because the cash back is 15% during the time slot.
    During the whole time when purchasing, I did not do any of the action you have listed;
    1. Using promo codes that are not eligible for cashback
    2. Opening of web pages (including search sites, social media, store sites, promotional/discount sites) or web browsers after clicking through ShopBack
    3. Clicking through to another page from a banner or an advertisement on the store’s website whilst shopping
    My purchase was tracked according to the Shopback website;
Please review my request to have my request for Activity validated. I hope there is no confusion between purchase order number 1065201933 and purchase order no. 1065206462. There is no evidence to indicate I have done anything to invalidate my shopback purchase transaction through the Shopback. I appeal for your just and fair assessment and look forward to your favourable reply.

Thank you again for your review.

    Regards,

    Jimmy Lee

    Hi jimmylee*******,

    Thank you for your patience!

Upon receiving the updates from Myer, your Missing Cashback claim for Order ID 1065206462 was rejected because your order was not attributed to ShopBack.

While you have made a purchase on Myer via the ShopBack platform, the following scenarios may have disrupted the trackability of your transaction:

Using promo codes that are not eligible for cashback
Opening of web pages (including search sites, social media, store sites, promotional/discount sites) or web browsers after clicking through ShopBack
Clicking through to another page from a banner or an advertisement on the store’s website whilst shopping
Here are some tips to ensure a successful transaction:
    1. Avoid the above-mentioned scenarios during your next purchase
    2. Clear your shopping cart before clicking through ShopBack
    3. Use a Private Window or Incognito mode on your browser
    4. Please disable Antivirus/cleanup or Adblocker application completely as it may disrupt the tracking of cashback

We hope these tips and tricks will help you in getting your next (and subsequent) Cashback tracked successfully. Feel free to reach out to us at any time should you have any further questions.

    Happy shopping!
