Samsung Galaxy S II $0 Upfront on $49 Optus Cap Plan

139

I found this deal in harvey norman woden. The cheapest plan atm is $49 +$5 that is with virgin or vodaphone.

I have confirmed with the store that this is not a typo.

  • What does it mean by Min Cost 1896 on timeless $79 plan?

    • +1

$79 * 24 = $1896. Optus is also offering 2 months access free on the plans for the SGS2 so… NOT A BARGAIN!

      • +1

Yeah so does that mean its 49 plus 30dollars handset?

Actually when EVER isn't there 0 dollars upfront…thats really misleading advertising

  • +6

There's a difference between $0 upfront and $0 monthly handset fee.

Not a bargain! Fail at ozbargaining. Should've said 'this is my first post, please be nice'

    • +3

i thought people would know from the one next to his name

      • +2

Agree, but unfortunately, people will read bargain88's comments, then think they have to put this is my first post etc. The sarcasm is lost on them as they haven't been here long enough to realise we have some very sarcastic bargain hunters. And it never stops…..

        • Hey what happened to your avatar ozpete, although off topic, you were the moose avatar right?

        • Yes off topic, he was just too nice, to be a mod…..(Down Boris leave his post alone - shucks Moose, you spoil all my fun.. Natasha help!!)

    • at the moment on the optus website for galaxy S2 it stated $0 upfront on the $59 plan and $14 per month on the $49 plan. On that photo I uploaded is $0 upfront $49 plan. Im not talking about $79 at the second paragraph, which is rip off.

Now you're just embarassing yourself. Research the difference between upfront and monthly handset repayments. In this case, Hardly Normal are probably not telling you that there is a $14 a month handset cost. Yes you don't need to pay anything upfront, but the ongoing monthly cost of $14 is still attached to your plan. Just sayin'

  • free as in $1896?

  • worst deal ive sen in a long time

    Whats with the +'s?

Who cares how much it is, the Optus network is a complete DISGRACE! I wouldn't deviate from Telstra for any $$..

    • +4

I have always used Telstra, but just got a phone on Optus. At first I thought that the phone was faulty!

    • +5

      it's still better then vodafail

    • +2

You should see vodaphone. I swear, thank god for Wi-fi.

I just purchased two plans from Vodafone yesterday and I think this is the best deal for the SGS2 going around at the moment:

$49 Cap + $25 mobile repayments for 12 months = $888 (website says $30 mobile repayment but their system says $25).

Then they gave me one month access free ($49) and also they gave me 10% off the $49 Cap (worth $53.90 over the 11 months) - just mention you are a NRMA member, they dont need proof of this.

Total minimum cost over 12 months with above discounts was $785.10. Quite good IMHO given you have an Australian release phone with 2 years warranty + a 12 month plan with 1.5gb data usage and $550 free calls. Call rates are absolutely crap though so you will chew through the $550 very quickly.

If you're interested, I can pass on the name of the person I spoke to, very helpful.

    • it's not $550 worth of free calls if you have to spend money. And no thanks, joining vodafone is like jumping off a bridge without bungee rope

    • Who????

Blue Panther, welcome to Ozbargain! There's a bit of invective in this thread, but please try not to take it to heart as this is a really good community. Please don't stop posting what you find out there.

FYI, like EBGames, Harvey Norman is rarely a source of bargains so if something looks cheap there, it's likely to be cheaper elsewhere.

    • You being soft. I remember my early post about justin bieber. got owned pretty bad. Good times …sniff

      • remember your post about coles express? a lot of people liked it

  • Man that's a cheap and deceptive advertisement from HN. Hardly unexpected I guess…

  • -3

Does it have the bluetooth and the wifi? Will it play cut the rope and angry birds? Can I play words with friends with all my friends? Is it as good as an iPhone?

    • +1

did you forget to take your medication?

    • Screw angry birds, you can play dead space!
The difference is that it runs so smoothly compared to my old 3GS and the ipad.
Also most people would agree that WordFeud is better than words with friends.

  • +ve Vote just for the poster to confirm with Optus that it's not a typo.

    LMFAO…:)

  • I would +vote for $49+$5 Virgin deal

  • go for the $59 business with 2 months free - that's a decent deal - oh with no handset repayments

  • Jeez….

How can HN be so deceptive?????
