Well, they deleted my post when I did a similar deal.
Seems inconsistent, one deal was posted and allowed that had one line of information/mention of a freight forwarding company.
They use their discretion so I guess decisions will not always be consistent.

This relies on people reporting deals. There were no reports of this deal. As this is sold out, it's a moot point. We are not on power trips here. Generally, if I click the link and I can't order the item and have it delivered to Australia, then it's not available to Australia. If someone posts a link to a freight forwarder with a direct link, e.g. https://www.priceusa.com.au/order/index.php?mod=order&item=2…, where you can just put your details in to buy, then I'd think that's fine. It's an interesting issue and I suggest you start a thread on the forums.

Sure, there will be nothing else coming out for it. Ever. So what you get out of the box is what you get. But at this price, you can use it as a digital photo frame or over-sized PMP and can't go wrong.
No, sales were bad so they discontinued it after 4 days in Australia, they have been having poor sales in America as well.
I think there was more to it than poor sales. They didn't give it enough time to pull their support essentially for an entire OS.
Think it was a strategy change. Months ago they were saying they wanted web OS on not only tablets in phones but everything ranging from desktops to laptops to printers. Clearly that visions gone by the wayside and thus their need for web OS has greatly diminished.
I got one earlier but looks like BestBuy might be sold out already.
What's the scoop on this thing? What support will it have for apps in the future, given HP have bailed on the hardware? White Elephant even though it's cheap…..?

For ~$135 shipped to oz it's a pretty good deal, regardless of the recent HP news there is still hope with the guys over at XDA-Developers working on getting this bad boy to work with Android.

How could they possibly? The sales were a total flop, and total number made/sold when this is over, will be less than 500 000, it costs a lot of money to make such a small number of tablets in a competitive market.
It was $300 in parts. Even with some very conservative estimates due to bulk orders etc, they're obviously bleeding out their ass with this price.

You can still add it to your cart because they have store pickup available where you pay online and pick up the item next time you visit the store.
Both models are now completely 'sold out online'.

BestBuy tried doing this from an internal mail forwarded to the employees but something must have happened and they are dumping them instead.
They're the exclusive retailer for this particular tablet in Australia. They are going to talk with HP Australia to decide the fate of these tablets. For now, they are off the shelves and can't be bought normally.
