Disconnecting NBN whilst away possible?

Will be going away for a few months later in the year. Does anyone know if it's possible to simply disconnect the service on the day we leave, and then reconnect when we come back without any complications.

With Superloop so no contracts from that end.

I would suggest ringing them and asking.

    • Thanks. I had assumed (perhaps incorrectly), it would be a more general situation re disconnecting from the network without porting to another provider.

    Why are you asking us?

    • Because takezo is with Superloop, famous for bad customer services, like dropping your call for staying too long in the phone queue. He is hoping someone else has previously asked the same question and knew the answer.

      • Either way, he has to contact their customer service to request a hold if its available.

        • Maybe I didn't word things clearly, but I wasn't expecting a hold to be possible with Superloop (I think I'd read a comment previously where a superloop customer said it wasn't).

I only mentioned Superloop to make it clear I wasn't on a contract.

So I was more interested on what was possible from a disconnect possibility rather than going on hold.

  • Depends on your contract status, your type of connection. A few factors. Better call.

Short answer = Yes or maybe No

  • call your provider and ask if it can be paused for 2 months . (rather than disconnected/reconnected)

    • That isn't how services are provisioned, I'm afraid. In any event the service will be terminated and have to be reinstated. It's just a matter of how long this process takes and how much (which depends on type of NBN).

      • This is the type of questions I was hoping to get answered. Unsure if a disconnect is just a flick off/on, or requires additional costs/admin.

  • Launtel has a daily pay as you go setup.

A number of providers will allow you to suspend your services for up to a year due to long leave.
