  • Why's it so expensive

    • Relative to… ?

      • Lenovo, for one

This is a pretty old chip as well

        • -2

Rather spend a couple of more bucks to get the Dell G5 5590 with the ebay sale for $1119 for much better specs.

          • +2

@4tran: Not sure whether this is a good comparison, considering this PC has 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD.

          • +2

            @4tran: "Much better"
Is a bit of a stretch
The dell has half the ram
Not to mention it's also bigger at nearly 1kg more weight and .5cm thicker

@4tran: You are comparing a business grade Pro book to a gaming laptop.

      • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/501073 only 8GB RAM but newer CPU + GTX 1650 $959
Any Lenovo E series laptop ~$750 with newer CPU though 8GB

3500u is about on par with 2700u
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/3500u

        If weight/SSD is your concern:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/504033

Yeah these are expired and not directly comparable, but my point is the benchmark is around $750-900 for 3500u / 8GB / 256GB-512GB SSD. Shouldn't be this much for an extra 8GB RAM.

        • Probooks should be compared to Lenovo T series or say Dell Latitudes, that's what they directly compete against.

          • @BlinkyBill: In what context are you talking???

I've used and repaired both Lenovo E series and ProBooks, literally would prefer the Lenovo in every way.

Repairability - ProBooks are shockers these days. Screen frame breaks almost always (to the point I'll just buy a new frame now anytime I do a screen replacement), etc etc.

Durability - ProBook isn't as durable as it looks. I've literally seen screen damage from a book sitting on the back of a closed ProBook.

The hinges squish the display cable if it's not handled with absolute care (ie carefully closing/opening with two hands, etc). Annoying to replace.

            Etc etc.

It's a pity this model doesn't come with the 3/3/3 warranty some of the other G6 445 models have.
For those critical of the price, this model is a laptop aimed at corporate use, with the more expensive win10 pro and components engineered for heavier/frequent use than cheaper models.
    IMO pros for this model:
    Ryzen 7 CPU/GPU
    16GB RAM
    512GB NVMe ssd
    Alloy construction
    Windows 10 Professional
Components such as HDD and RAM can be easily upgraded/repaired.

    Cons:
The display is probably the weakest aspect of this laptop, which is quite dimly illuminated, as well as employing PWM for dimming.
The display will be difficult to use outdoors.
PWM used in display may result in flicker below 60% brightness that irritates some
    No touchscreen
    Battery is only ok

Here's a review of the laptop but with lower spec (ryzen 5 and 8gb ram)
