Now you can pillage your local estuary for cheaper than ever with this discount crab net. Just bought one and it was so cheap the checkout chick thought it was a scam and had to call a superior to confirm the price. If you want to use it you'll need a few more overpriced bits at BCF but with this you could probably get a start on crabbing for around 10 bucks, which is cheaper than the $25/kg that I've seen crabs going for in the shops.

Update: Just found out bait bags and clips are on sale too:
Rogue Bait Clip 4 Pack $1.06 (was $4.49)
Rogue Bait Pouch $0.49 (was $3.99)

Can vouch for this, but thankfully not personally

Yep we must all know the same guy… friend of a friend.

The only reason I clicked in this thread was to see a crabs joke. Thankfully it was the first comment in the thread and I didn't have to look too far. Nicely done ;).

  • Do these ones catch the small female crabs? Their the tastiest

Ive just triangulated your gps location based on a meta analysis of your web data profile and submitted it to your state fisheries department. They said they'll come around after the long weekend and they better not find any undersized crabs in your esky.

      • +4

They'll be in my tummy by then!

        • +1

Looks like they'll have to sneak in the back door for some forensics.

  • Aren't these less effective than the traps? These nets require you to time the pull out

    • +2

I'm in WA where the traps are banned and they only let you pull out

      • Yep. I went crabbing today in Mandurah. We scooped and did alright. But when I am using drop nets, I prefer the more expensive ones with the riggid wire base. I find these string bottom nets too flimsy.

        • +1

These do have a wire base. You must've been lucky in Mandurah because I've been twice this Summer and only got 1 legal size crab, which doesn't really make it worth the trip. I'm planning to eat the paralysis algae crab here now.

          • @Dungeon Master: I was just about to edit my the post. Great price for wire based! Might grab a few spares.

I live in Mandurah and New Years Day was insane. 40 large crabs in one hour via scooping. (10 each which is the limit)

            Today, not so much.

@Ge3ks: You might want to check out a few of the other crabbing supplies are discounted too. I ended up ordering 3 more nets and clips and bags for them all for under 20 bucks which is a steal.

          • @Dungeon Master: Certain people overfish at Mandurah without no regard for the size of the crab.

            • +2

@MANU7D: Yep, sadly I've seen the big groups chucking their catches in the esky without checking. Almost made me do a public racism once.

              • @Dungeon Master: Yeah it's infuriating. I like to hand out crab measuring guages to 'uneducated'
                tourists.

                • @Ge3ks: Mate I saw them pretend check and yet throw it in the Esky. I asked the dude , he said all good. Seriously no respect for the rules.

    • @Mr Asstight: As long as you keep the rope tight while retrieving, the crabs can't swim out.

  • This Wilson is a better option on a deserted island than the other Wilson

  • No stock around the West (of Melb) for pick up option. $20 delivery kills the deal!

  • Who pays for crabs these days? You don't need a fancy pants crab catching tool, crabs are free at your local bordello

  • only things my traps catch are platypus ….
doesn’t taste like chicken, more like duck …..

    • That's alright, crab bait is crab bait

  • +1

Marron nets on special too, ideal for this time of year

    https://www.bcf.com.au/p/wilson-ready-rigged-marron-net-60cm…

    • Good discount there too. Do you know if there's any difference with the crab nets besides being 1cm less in diameter and $0.41 cheaper?

      • +1

Yep, the legal requirements of the base. Must be 32mmx80mm with marron

  • +1

Legal requirements vary state by state…check local regulations

  • Looks like the Yabby net I had when I was a kid. Good times.

    i think the prices changed?

    • Looks like it’s back to the standard price. No stock anyway in the east of Melbourne.
