    Sequential Read Up to 2,400MB/s
    Sequential Write Up to 1,950MB/s

Worth paying ~$30 more for 3,400MB/s/3,000MB/s?

Here's a performance review of the Silicon Power

      Looks like a good performer

It's worth paying $30 to get a DRAM cache. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybIXsrLCgdM

I would avoid the OP "deal".

      • Dumb q how to check if one has one? I could only find adverts of nand which is not dram?

        • It's not really a dumb question. Unfortunately, a lot of advertisers will not include the lack of DRAM in the product listing, so the easiest way to find out is search for the product name with DRAM included and read the reviews.

NAND flash is the type of storage memory. This one is TLC, which is fine. Avoid QLC which is slower and has a shorter lifespan. DRAM manages data storage within the NAND flash.

Pay the extra for the high performer. The other issue here is a 2 month wait on tech means by the time it arrives it'll probably be cheaper!

  • yep.

  • I don’t care to get 3000 speeds instead of 2000 speeds; but I care if the drive slows down a LOT if it’s mostly full. Will cheap NVMe SSD’s still perform as good as, or better, than a SATA SSD, if the nvme drive is 80% full?
Edit:… on further thought… I would get this deal if I didn't have to wait such a long time…

Given that this drive doesn't have its own memory, yes.

Make sure the SSD has TLC NAND flash, SLC cache and DRAM cache, then shop on price.

  • How do you do this whole "amazon US through AU" thing? I found something on Amazon US that I was interested in… should I just buy it through Amazon US, or can I buy it through Amazon AU?? And will I get charged currency conversion / international transaction fee? (I don't currently have any international fee-free payment methods)…
